Just saw this on Tumblr. Didn't read all the way through the thread so I don't know if this was here before in all the chaos.   I think the picture is stained glass in the Redcliffe chantry and it's depicting Shartan. I....I definitely see the similarities.

...the ears are different...

 

I actually don't think physical similarities mean too much. There are a lot of bald elves. If the mural is to be believed the entire elven pantheon were bald. There's also the sentinels. They're all bald.

 

The picture is uncanny, though.

I'm sure it has some meaning that we'll probably chase our tails trying to understand. All I can say is that the same art gets reused in a lot of places. The links have clearer versions of the artwork that shows up in DAI.

These are beautiful. I love the Ferelden stuff.

As for the portraits- keep in mind, both of the poses are a very common religious icon pose. Just google 'catholic saint icons'.

Well, I'm OK with Solas = Shartan, or Shartan being inspired by Solas (which I think would be more likely), or none of the above. I'm not so OK with Solas = Shartan = Shartan x Andraste. No thank you. Lavellan will not be the sloppy seconds to another mythological lady no thanks times 1,000,000. I'm sure Solas has had other lovers, but another larger-than-life, demigoddess? And one that you are supposedly chosen by? Ew...Nope. Nope. Nope.

This is fun, but I don't think any of this means anything.  Solas being Fen'Harel is a mind f*ck enough as it is, right?

(Not trying to discourage anyone.  I've been enjoying the discussion and speculation.  I just think it's not at all connected in any way.  Don't mind me though, carry on!)

Sorta off topic, but I really like how Dorian was written in regards to slavery. He isn't so much PRO slavery, as much as he's just never questioned it. Which makes sense as he was raised surrounded by it in his culture. A lot of people never realize problematic things around them until they are specifically pointed out, just because of how used to it they are.

Oh I completely agree that the way he was raised matches up with his views on slavery. It definitely makes sense, I just would've like to open up his eyes a bit about the subject. Solas tries to, but I don't think it hits Dorian like it should
Fenris needs to beat some sense into him.
I love Dorian's character, but my Lavellan just isn't able to feel like "oooooh we're bffs and I love you so much and want to gossip about people with you!" Because of his thoughts on slavery. Like Dorian, you are a huuuuuuuge hypocrite. You make Vivienne and Sera's hypocrisy (maybe not Solas's) seem minimum in comparison. You don't want mages to be locked away and seen as monsters? Well the only country where mages have free reign is the only country where the slavery is accepted! You want to be accepted for who you are and not forced to be someone your not? Well Dorian look at all the slaves that surrounded you in Tevinter and tell me they don't have it worst! You can't expect your homeland to accept you as you until they accept that people are people not property!

Now I'm fuming. I wish I would walk into the game and give a bunch of the characters a good tongue lashing on hypocrisy and other things they shouldn't do.

Its also possible that the two bottom images are from a pre-civilization elven society, and the more advanced drawings are from a later time period. Or, they are intended to be Dalish art. [Which is very possible, I believe they are reused in the emerald graves and exalted plains.]

That idia visited me briefly before being discarded as barking mad. That would be too much, and it's not really clear why would human Chantry acccept this elven vaudeville as their choice of religion.
