I wonder if writers and devs actually take a peek into these discussions. Maybe they hug themselves and giggle madly in glee...

Oh, I'm sure they do. Anything that gets people talking about the game is all good. I'm sure that some of the coincidences are deliberate. Either so they might have a way out if a plot doesn't pan out, or, they can enjoy mass speculation.

I do love that DA is a game that can be speculated. Its not quite as fun just having an open and shut case.

I got that reference.

Considering people almost quote ingame codex entries here, I would be surprised if you didn't

Solas isn't that kind of liar, though. He's the kind whose lies are in what he doesn't say rather than what he does say.

Basically he is lying by telling the truth in a way that you can only come to a certain conclusion.

The times he actively lies... (when were you at court?)...
He is rather bad at lying.

Oh, they do. You know they do. If I was a writer I would totally stalk this thread. I cant imagine these writers arent a little bit egotistic to want to hear what people think about their creations.

Why do people think Solas was/is Shartan? Just because they are elves and bald?

The connection with the probable Mythal's host, Andraste, isn't enough for me either. Neither Shartan's desire to free his people.

From what we've seen from the games, Solas is weak because he has just awakened. You can sense in his dialogue - especially with Sera - he's still mourning the downfall of the elven culture and essence. He feels like an outsider and can't connect with modern elves, can't approach them. Something Shartan hadn't trouble, with what we know.

Plus, Shartan had a rogue armor in DAO.

Are the 9 stars something that's connected to the tarot card itself? I mean: Does the heremit has 9 stars somewhere as a standard symbol or...?

Because 9 elven gods and, well.

No, the nine stars aren't connected to The Hermit in any special way. Shari'El mentioned the important components of the card: cloak, staff/cane, light/lantern.

Considering who he is, Solas is not very good at containing himself whenever he gets emotional or confronted. Almost all of his 'slip up' type comments seem to be made when he's flustered about something.

And when he is lying, we get all those little... pauses, so it's easy  :)

I think Solas has a tendency to look down or to the side when he's lying/keeping something secret

Usually he pretty much stares the Inquisitor down

Ah, yes, thanks for pointing it out :)

And again my question: Why would Solas go back to sleep after all was over with Andraste? Wouldn't he have known that it would just weaken him further?

"I have to tell you the truth...about your face..."

Most dangerous pause in the history of Thedas.

Oh they do, some of them can be quite active, I'm sure they'll come back at some point.

I actually had a dream last night where Allan, he who would grace this thread in the past, posted to tell us that there would be no Solas in any upcoming DLC.

I really need to stop reading these forums before bed.

It is fun, even for a non-writer. It is a pleasure to read through all this, very enlightening in some sense.

I'm pretty sure that THIS

b2XvAO1.png

is meant to depict the Disciple Havard stealing away with Andraste's ashes. The object in his hand appears to be some type of urn, with a lid. The man himself appears to be a rather stout human fellow.

I know we're looking for Fen'Harel/Solas everywhere now, but this is way more likely to depict Havard.

Solas is Havard and he also stole the Ashes before DA:I.

(Sorry, I had to.  I'll get my coat.)

I just realized something looking at the tarot card....

tumblr_inline_ncin92DXm51sgnchb.png

We see the Sun = Elgar'nan

The Moon = Mythal

His mouth is covered (keeping secrets) = Dirthamen

Halla on the staff = Ghilan'nain

Fire = Sylaise

Not sure about the rest, but wtffff

Those are either some weird coincidences or we've been trolled badly

Or maybe it shows the ones that didn't betray him?

Let me throw out some more ....

bottom left circle -- water?  river? -- that would be Falon'din.  My guess would be the connection between rivers and death/moving to the afterlife

bottom right circle --- rocks?  mountain?  -- that would be June.  We've already discussed the crazy parallels between the god of crafts and dwarves.

And there we have it ... the whole pantheon.  With the massive exception of Fen'harel.  So does that mean he is central to the pantheon or does it mean that he is entirely separate from them?  Both ideas would fit with the lore.

Bacon. The answer is the lower right symbol. Solas makes Halla bacon using magic fire from Sylaise, which he shares to night owl Mythal and daywalker Elgar-nan. Dirthamen is insistent on wanting the secret to Solas Halla bacon, but his lips are sealed.

Yes, bacon is the answer.

I like you. Lets get some Halla bacon together!

Spoiler

Sorry.....not really.

:D

Solas is also the entire Elven Pantheon minus Falon'Din and Andruil...oh and June. He is both his mother and his father. The Hermit is proof...

No, the gods regain their powers/heal when they sleep.  They draw power from the Fade.

I'm referencing what Felassan says in TME re: enlightened elves and in the chewing rope to get away story.

What about Andruil.

Maybe she's the only traitor. Maybe Falon'Din is 'innocent' after all.

Edit: Looks like cereal realized who was forgotten.
