Maybe it's somewhere in this discussion, but I'm not sure I can stomack 1600 pages of it, so wold you, guys, please, explain, why Solas made a tamtrum over Lavellan drinking from the Well? Mythal is his "old friend", no?

There's actually a bit of a bug where Solas is supposed to beg the Inquisitor not to drink from it while you're at the well, but he doesn't. The biggest thing about it is the fact that essentially, the Inquisitor is ok with making herself a potential slave of Mythal. While he likes Mythal and respects her a lot, he doesn't like the idea of anyone not having the free will to make their own choices. At all.

That's why he gets snippy with Gat if you take him on Iron Bull's quest. He doesn't like the Qun because it suppresses free thought.

I'm starting to get cabin fever. My parents have this giant house in the mountains. It's great and all but there is nothing to do other than go hiking by myself. The town near by only has a walmart.

So all I have to do all day on my vacation is think about Dragon Age and go for long hikes into the wilderness. And the wilderness just inspires my craziness more.

They have TV but I don't really care about TV. So I just have books, dragon age, and my insanity.

You have us!

Take solace in us, dear.  *snoooorrrtttsss*

Guys, guys ... why do we hate Andruil so much?  Because of one little story which clearly did not happen that way and probably has some really interesting nuances that we're not getting?

Let's not forget that the gods became corrupted.  Whether that was due to the blight or red lyrium or magic nonsense ... I don't think we can hold that against them.

We just hate everyone who boinked Solas don't we?  ... *sigh* alright I can get behind that ...

Technically, we're hating someone who WANTED to boink Solas! Doesn't have to actually happen to earn our ire!  :)

Oh. Free are the slaves and all that? Okaaaay, thaks a lot. I was mystified by the abscence of this scene of begging not to.

This doesn't have anything to do with Solas, but someone nice in the DAI modding thread linked me to a Cheat Engine table that lets you fiddle with hair colors while making a new character. http://forum.cheaten...5569310#5569310

I know everyone already has their canon Lavellan, but I figured it would be good to share. There are some better looking normal colors (like #20. that actually looks black, not the blue-shiny default black), and quite a few premade ones that are a little less normal. Some of those would be kind of cool to pair with weird colored eyes (blue with purple inner ring anyone?) to show that physically going into the Fade on accident can do funky things to physical characteristics.

<edit> Here's a screenshot of some actual black hair. Again, #20 in the premade slot. Looks nice and non-shiny, even in the beginning cinematic lighting.

Because the Inquisitor would be a slave to Mythal's will.

Just because they are old friends, doesn't mean he approves of everything Mythal did.

Essentially. Jumping headfirst into the unknown when the voices of the well could drown yours own. If you're romancing him, I'm sure there's also a bit of fear for Lavellan as well. Mythal...isn't necessarily kind. Who knows what terrible things the Inquisitor might have to do because they were compelled to.

Solas was definitely betrayed by a female (probably a friend even)

If you tell him after the Temple of Mythal that you'll share your power...

S: "You think to share your power, to avoid the temptation of misuse. It's a noble sentiment, but ultimately a mistake

Because while one selfless woman may walk away from the lure of power's corruption, no group has ever done so"

I: "I trust my friends"

S: "I know that mistake well enough to carve the angles of her face from memory"

Just because they are old friends, doesn't mean he approves of everything Mythal did.

He planned to steal her power all along. So it doesn't completely make sense, in my opinion

edit: about the betrayal - it's Andruil with her shiny spear-weapon, I tell you!

Are the 9 stars something that's connected to the tarot card itself? I mean: Does the heremit has 9 stars somewhere as a standard symbol or...?

Because 9 elven gods and, well.

Well, it's the 9th card in the major arcana... 9 is supposed to symbolize completion, or the end. Most of the nines are some variation of this theme I think. I'm not an expert on tarot though.

Hahahaha, that is what we call living in the country...some people do it their whole lives *shudders* some are forced to their whole childhood. The nearest fast food place from where I grew up was 40 min away...that is not fast food!

I think he is referencing the mistake as a she. The same way one might call justice a lady, or a machine or country a she.
This is as an interesting article on the usage of female genders on genderless things.

Here comes "lost in translation" for us, foreigners. So is it a figure of speech?

I agree with this since the mistake was in trusting a group of friends, and the group as a whole was corrupted by power. It didn't seem to imply that one person was responsible.

I agree, although it could be intended to be ambiguous.

For the record, I don't hate Andruil. I really love the concept of her. My thought at the moment is that she and Fen'Harel might have had a sort of love hate relationship, and perhaps both hunted in the void. Fen'Harel eventually decided he wanted none of it, but Andruil kept going back. She became corrupt and fell into madness.

If it was red lyrium, she may have then taken the lyrium to the other gods, and the corruption continued to spread. I don't think the elven gods started out evil- with the possible exception of Fen'Harel. I think Fen'Harel is set up more as the atoner, so he might have actually been malevolent until he hit a moral event horizon and realized he was the only sane one left. [Well, he and Mythal before she was murdered.]

Mims, you need your own theory thread, or website, or something.  :)  Though I'm sure we'd all miss your posts here.

*shrugs shoulders* English is weird. Languages are weird. Just know that English speakers enjoy giving inanimate objects and other things the female gender. Cars and ships and other machines are she. Countries are she. Even some feelings/concepts are she, like justice, freedom, or liberty. We'll just chalk it up to females are slowly taking over the world!

Edit: Even as I'm explaining an English language concept to you guys, I still ended up using an idiom. Huh, I have to watch myself for everyone who's first language isn't English! X) Sorry!

And maybe edit main post in this thread to keep up with these theories spanning? Cause, as I've just found out, people already suggested Arlathan and Black City was one and the same, and the idea struck me just today.

I won't be rid of so easily!

Admittedly, we don't actually have a lot to go on so don't take anything I'm saying as anything more than my crazy theories. The difficult part is deciding what the Dalish may have gotten right, and what may be completely wrong. We just have fragments. But I do like what fragments we have, and trying to make sense of what they imply.

Thank you for making such a fun game! I was wondering - did you guys make DA:I with DLC ideas already in mind? Or does work on that kind of thing only start now?

We have plans for what comes next — we always have plans — though usually, once we reach that point, things have changed sufficiently that we need to adjust course. The Big Picture generally stays the same, but the details change a lot…the overall story of Inquisition doesn’t much resemble how it first started out, for instance, even though the major beats of it (and how they lead into the future) stayed consistent.

Nah, I feel comfortable with English most of the time. Well, ok, my grammar is rusty. But, I must admit, some of Cole's monologues made me enter into lynguistic stupor
