I would be really interested to know what the original storyline was. I know originally we were going to be a human only, possibly already an Inquisitor for the chantry. There's also some concept art that suggests some fairly big personality changes on some of the characters.

Nah, I feel comfortable with English most of the time. Well, ok, my grammar is rusty. Like, a lot. But, I must admit, some of Cole's monologues made me enter into lynguistic stupor

To be fair.  I am a native English speaker and he was difficult for me to understand.  He has a stream of consciousness that messes with you.

He is a spirit, after all. But it was painful, had to re-listen many dialogues

Solas was definitely betrayed by a female (probably a friend even)

If you tell him after the Temple of Mythal that you'll share your power...

S: "You think to share your power, to avoid the temptation of misuse. It's a noble sentiment, but ultimately a mistake

Because while one selfless woman may walk away from the lure of power's corruption, no group has ever done so"

I: "I trust my friends"

S: "I know that mistake well enough to carve the angles of her face from memory"

This is definitely ambiguous. It could either mean that he's referring to a specific person, or that he's simply referring to the mistake as "she." Given how little we know about his actual history, I'm not comfortable assuming I know how he meant it. I just don't know.  We don't really have enough information at this point to know for sure.

Cole sometimes leaves me in a stupor X) and I give kudos to anyone who is bilingual or multilingual. I just finished a college course Spanish 1 and oh my gracious I have never had to take so many notes for a class. Uh, and I have a Dutch friend who is fluent in English and Dutch and proficient in German, Spanish, and French! Curse her for making me insecure about my lack of language knowledge! I will learn basic Spanish even if it kills me!!!!

If it's not too revealing, how much of the lore in Inquisition (particularly in regards to the Dalish and the Elven Pantheon) was planned back in DA: O?

If you mean the larger stuff, some of which we saw get revealed by the very end of Inquisition? All of it.

And Sera. I had to replay her conversations a few times before I got her speech pattern down pat. Speaking with Solas, Cole, and Sera made my brains implode; Solas was a bit easier to figure out once I got his rhythm down, then Cole is like a text book describing people as fast as their thoughts allowed, and Sera talks in like analogies.

My advice to you - do not try Finnish. It's so awful, it doesn't even have rhymes  :D

Sorry for off-topic

edit: no multy-quote skill whatsoever...

Sera talks with this frigging accent. Makes her so very hard to understand. And to like her, actually.

How do you get it to drop??

I am not sure what all the conditions are, but I was around Level 20 and I killed the Highland Ravager dragon in Emprise du Lion. It dropped as part of the loot on the dragon's corpse. From friends I've talked to, it's a pretty reliable drop... so, you just gotta kill the toughest dragon on the map to get it. :P

Wow, he's answering a lot of questions tonight!

Yeah and some of the questions make me do Cassandra disgusted noises..the one about Luke writing Sera, in particular.

But the answer to the elven question makes me want to delve in all of the DA things and pull out more ridiculous theories. What have you done to my life, good sir?

Heh, I figured when he tweeted he'd been sitting on some of this stuff for years. Flemeth's real identity was foreshadowed, at least her involvement with the Dalish.

He really likes that Solas art some of you said seemed too domineering. I love that one too, so I think it's you guys who've read all that bad fanfiction who reacted to it, you're scarred. lol

It still weirds me out that the devs go into character tags and read all the fanfiction...and the smut. It's like...oh god they know our kinks. XD

But this ALSO means they know how much the Solas fans want to reconcile with Solas...so...yay?

Isn't is curious, from psychological point of view, how many people are actually involved in this  stuff? I mean, we can use our imagination and think of any suitable ending, draw it, write it down, anything! But still we want some closure from original writers.

Bacon. The answer is the lower right symbol. Solas makes Halla bacon using magic fire from Sylaise, which he shares to night owl Mythal and daywalker Elgar-nan. Dirthamen is insistent on wanting the secret to Solas Halla bacon, but his lips are sealed.

still catching up with all the beautiful speculation, but I love you XD

And the wait is absolute torture, too. How long was it before Witch Hunt came out? I wasn't directly involved with the fandom then - just joined, popped in now and then. I did see that people were pissed about the Morrigan thing, and hoped against hope for closure.

And then the wait for ME3 - I was a Joker fan...wanted so badly to romance him. Then it wasn't handled properly, and his character was thrown off. So there is always the threat of disappointment. The fanficiton does help more than it used to; I can walk away saying "yes, I did romance Joker." But at the back of my mind...it's not canon, it wasn't in the game. And that shouldn't matter, but it does. It's like a higher being saying things can work out. It's very strange.

I also wonder if the "she" is one betrayed, not the betrayer.  We know Mythal was betrayed...could Fen'Harel have been involved w/ that, indirectly but to an extent where he feels responsible?  I tend to think that the use of the feminine pronoun is not personification simply b/c Solas does not do that anywhere else in his dialogues (that I can recall).

I literally can't focus on anything other than Solas-closure.  This Trevelyan run I'm currently doing is so difficult.  I'm barely making progress, because I'm constantly paused in-game, and refreshing this thread.

Wolf Hunt DLC, #GOGO.

It is fascinating! And something humans have been doing since art was born. You have the author's intent, and then what the audience makes of it- sometimes, the two aren't the same.

I forgot the title, but there's a short story that my teacher in highschool gave us to write about. We picked it apart for all these tiny meanings. That it was Faustian, it was about a man in red who was clearly the devil. The teacher then revealed that the author intended it to be a story about Santa. It doesn't make what we read into the story was less valid, but it really is fascinating.

Which is why I don't tend to get too hung up on canon/noncanon, so long as what ends up being 'true' canon doesn't feel like it has detached itself completely from the narrative. Sometimes I have a vault of little head theories, and I think- well, if this isn't what the game ends up doing, it could make a really awesome novel someday.

That...that comes straight from the nightmare demon in the fade...

Lol, Allan Schumacher is All Fears Come to Life?

It was Luke Kristjanson who told us they had talked about an Alistair DLC that never was. Instead we got Leliana's Song and Witch Hunt. I'm not bitter, oh no.

I'm not sure that they all read fanfiction. While some may browse tags, it seems like they have a.. complicated relationship with fanfiction of their characters. DG wrote a blog post about it.
