Elves:

More Solas art:

Ah... What should I do... I like the Solas romance but compared to the others... They are only like... 2-3 cut scene... IS IT WORTH IT?
Let me tell you. I was in the fence as well like you but here I come lurking to the Solas Thread asking the same questions and the pretty posters here encouraged me to do so.
The question you should be asking yourself is do you really want to skip this?
If the answer is NO, read the fine print**, if the answer is YES, thanks for playing. Come back next week.

(via sunlethscape)
**Come now. No regrets. I swear I'm not trying to bribe you.
**However this romance should come with a warning regarding your health and sanity towards the end.
^What she said.
On a different note. There I was, talking to Lysas in Redcliffe Village, listening to him ramble on about using his powers to grow crops and not be in wars, or whatever.
Cue Vivenne with something high-brow and condescending... *collective eye-roll*
Then, Solas speaks up, in his cool, smooth and thoughtful manner... "Sometimes to achieve the world one desires, one must take regrettable measures."
OH RLY?! You must have PERSONAL experience with this or something! Huh, Solas? HUUUUHHH?!?! *panting*
(Btw, I totally missed that comment during my first playthrough, because ignorant bliss

I've always figured he had to make a choice long ago to do something that was necessary but unsavory. Lavellan has faith in him in spite of her massive heart ache.
Solas chilling in the fade with spirits:

We should celebrate... I know just the thing!
I'm wondering if I should spoiler this for space sake... *contemplates while staring into dem eyes*
He has adorable eyes.
He sometimes reminds me of a cat or a fox for some reason...
*sigh* Looking at these screenshots, reminded me of something. One of my biggest regrets when I got the Fade kiss scene is that during that time, Solas was wearing a rather ghastly colored armor. ![]()

Bright yellow plaid coat over green clothing... Hey, I didn't know that a kiss was going to happen in that scene during that time. xD

Hahaha! Umm... Confession.
I actually replayed this scene multiple times (for the obvious reasons), but also for one not-so-obvious reason. I went back and made him armor that looked more like something he would actually wear!
I'm an immersion nerrrrrd. ![]()
Hmmm... I can't tell.
Would you like me to summon up a couple of strapping young templars for a second opinion?

Haha!
The sad thing is, I've replayed that scene multiple times as well, but I ALWAYS forget to change his damn armor.

Are the 9 stars something that's connected to the tarot card itself? I mean: Does the heremit has 9 stars somewhere as a standard symbol or...?
Because 9 elven gods and, well.
Not sure if this was answered already, but the Hermit's tarot card number is 9.
If Solas is Shartan, then I am a wolf. He's not Shartan. It doesn't make story sense.
While I'm not convinced Solas is Shartan I'll try to remember this, in case he is found out to be Shartan, and then I'll make the effort to find this post and reply to it.
Another thing that bothers me with the idea that Solas is Shartan, is that it subtracts from the deeds of the elves that aren't demi-gods. It would imply that they can't do anything monumental or world changing without Solas present in some shape or form. I'd like to think that they are capable of great things without him, and that it was possible for a more mundane elf to make such an impact on history. To turn it around. What if Solas saw the events that Shartan led while he dreamt in the Fade, and was so impressed by him that he later took on the naked noggin look in his honor?
Anyways, wasn't Shartan executed? I'm sure there's tons of jrpg ways to get him out of that predicament, but there had to be witnesses, right? Hmm.
Ok so I've been lurking for a few hundred pages and I'm currently on page 1578 and I've decided that trying to catch up before posting is an impossible task.
So I just finished my "glutton for punishment" run through (read: nightmare difficulty + solas romance) and I'm seriously reconsidering some life choices right now. My original play through I have to admit I thought Solas was bland, but I think it's because I missed out on most of his content seeing as my canon ass-hattery was apparently not his cup of tea. I saw that stinger at the end and it totally caught me by surprise, like out of all the characters of course it's Mr.If-there-are-to-be-introductions-my-name-is-bald that winds up being the friggin' Dread Wolf/Elven God of all things dark and mysterious. So I got curious and wondered how much I missed and if he revealed himself to a romanced Delf PC...
Wth.
I was not prepared. This unassuming little elf turns out to be the smoothest mother-fucker in the entire series. The only way I know how to describe that romance is cupid taking a dump, putting it on your doorstep, setting it on fire, ringing your doorbell, when you go to answer the door you instead end up tripping and face planting right into it. It was so good and so horrible all at the same time. Like I've been playing the Dragon Age series since Origins came out and I've never had any reason to post or use these forums before this. I had to create an account for this. It gave me feelings and now I need a DLC or something because this is not ok.
I totally expected his romance to be something uneventful and mundane, especially since his romance was added in at the last minute during the extra production time. Like in DA2, the whole reason I couldn't romance Anders was because the way his hair was on his character model it made him look like he was balding/ had a receding hairline. And yet now I'm in love with the Solas romance. Oh the irony.
So yes. I am adding my voice in favor of needing a Wheres Baldo DLC. Like yesterday, preferably.

Based on the wiki, elves have "tapetum lucidum" which allows their eyes to glow in the dark (or very reflective) like cats. Imagine being a traveler on the roads and passing a dalish camp. I would brisk walk out of there.

It might just be that it's late, and I am punchy, but this whole post is just perfect. Welcome to the forums and to the Solas thread. ![]()

Weeellllccoooooooommmmeee. *intentionally creepy*
Shartan was a people-person. I did not get the impression that Solas was a people person to rally the slaves together for a cause. A scholar, not a leader.
Look how hung up on the past he is. The modern Dalish are playing "telephone" and passing information that is completely different from the original but so were the slaves a thousand years ago, just a little closer to the original messages. He dislikes elves for getting it wrong and he dislikes elves who don't care at all.
Friendly reminder: please include the source if you're posting fanart. You can always do a reverse image search on google if you're not sure where it's from.

Needs some Solas since it's the top of the page! (And I made the gif, so no source necessary lol)

Yes.
And I think they mentioned in The Calling that elves have eyes of impossible hues that made them seem alien. ![]()
Edited: Gosh, passing by a Dalish camp at night, and then seeing their eyes glow in the dark... Brrr! D:

Maybe I'm just tired, but I had a fit of giggles picturing this. Saying "nope. Nope. NOPE." the entire way, amiright? ![]()
Lol, Allan Schumacher is All Fears Come to Life?
It was Luke Kristjanson who told us they had talked about an Alistair DLC that never was. Instead we got Leliana's Song and Witch Hunt. I'm not bitter, oh no.
We mustn't let him see this, it'll go to his head...
Went to tvtropes and found this:
*happy-happy-joy-joy*
*maybe this could be a reason to give him a more-or-less happy ending*
*hope never dies*
Aww I missed the sexy elf talk while I slept ![]()
But Solas has come a long way
I still remember the days when ppl were like "EEwwwwww he's bald dun want dat one to be a romance option"
And now he leads all the romance polls by far lol
Went to tvtropes and found this:
- Among the romance options, Solas tends to take the lead in polls, despite the fact that his has the most restrictions and has fewer scenes than any other. He even beats Cullen, who fans have been jonesing for a romance with all the way since Dragon Age: Origins.
*happy-happy-joy-joy*
*maybe this'll be a reason enough to give him a more-or-less happy ending*
*hope never dies*
This makes me feel so proud, and I'm not sure why ![]()
I am far more inclined to think that Solas/Fen'Harel was the mentor of Andraste through the Fade under the title The Maker, since he was responsible for "making" the world as it currently is (through shutting away the elf gods) and strengthening the veil. Also Shartan was a warrior, not a mage, was definitely meant to have lived the life of a slave and joined the rebellion quite late on, when Andraste and Maferath reached the Valarian Fields. If he had woken up in order to lead the rebellion against Tevinter, he left it a bit late.
However, I have to say, no matter what way (if at all) he was involved in the events surrounding Andraste, you can see why he might be a bit fed up with the Dalish elves. Think about it; he manages to engineer things to free the elves and give them a homeland. He also give them a decent prophet and god to follow (the Chant of Light if followed is a blue print for a fair society - remembering that all the prejudices against mages was not Andraste's intent as Mother Giselle informs us). Shartan, if he was Solas or influenced by him, was said to be a true disciple and given what we now know about the elven gods, that makes a lot of sense.
Fast forward to the present. Solas wakes up and discovers that within a couple of hundred years or so of all his events the elves managed to p*** off the humans so much that when Orlais began a bit of expansionism in the name of religion, no one lifted a finger to stop them. Not only that but the elves have resumed their worship of the old elven gods and proudly mark their faces in recognition of that fact. It would be enough to make you tear your hair out!! Honestly how many times do you have to try and fix things before it actually works?

Gotta say, I was giggling all the way through your post. I love stories of Solas taking people by surprise like that. I've heard variations on, "so I thought Solas was boring the first time around because bald and then I saw the ending" so many times, and it never gets old.
And even though I wanted to romance him from the very beginning, I was also caught off-guard by how...confident he is. I mean, he's conflicted all the way through the romance, but every single scene just sizzles. Was not expecting that at all.
