Am I the only one here whose ideal ending with Solas would be a bittersweet one teetering on tragic? I guess I'm a bit of a masochist...no one? No? I'll go sit in the corner xD.....................................

No matter how it does end, I will satisfied as long as it is well written (and with Weekes as the Writer, I mean there really aren't any doubts) and doesn't feel unbelievable. I don't see Solas abandoning his goal, however, so I'm in for the ride. : P I also hope it gets resolved with the Inquisitor, 'cuz a new protag wouldn't have anywhere near the same impact.

There are rare occasions where I want to kiss other women. This is one of those occasions, because if you were standing in front of me that is what I would do to you.

Tee hee!!

There are rare occasions where I want to kiss other women. This is one of those occasions, because if you were standing in front of me that is what I would do to you. I like the man more than the god (and he said it himself that he and the others aren't actual literal gods), and an ending where he loses his immortality either by his own choice or his actions would be very compelling to me. The latter, where his actions cause him to lose the powers that made people think he was a god, could bring potential for the ending to be both bittersweet and happy in the sense that he an Lavellan could live a mortal life together. Since he's male and older, assuming Lavellan survives into old age, he likely wouldn't have to die alone.

Yes I agree with this 100%. I would love for there to be an ending where he is turned mortal. And I think this would actually be a HAPPY ending for him. I think his immortality has only brought him torment and pain. Living a mortal life with a woman he loves would be enough.

Like in my stupid fanfic i plan on him dying like an old man in bed with Lavellan. And he is not remembered as the dread wolf or anything else. He's remembered as a trustworthy and wise man who was in love with Lavellan. In history he's written down as someone who helped the elves build a new empire and a lot of positive stuff. So the best thing he ever does is let himself die.

If you think he's going to give us anything but frustratingly vague answers that make us want to tear our hair out, you don't know BioWare devs.

I don't know if I'd care for a normal relationship. I feel like my Lavellan is attracted most to the idea of accomplishing something- which she was doing with Solas. Saving the world. Helping people. Otherwise she would have had a sweetheart back at clan Lavellan. She wouldn't want him to give up who he is just so they can dwindle their lives away and be in love. And that's not even knowing who he really is.

I don't see him as a god. But I do think he has the power to accomplish much. As does Lavellan. I tend to prefer, in my ideal sort of ending, something a bit more ambiguous. I don't want either of them to have to change who they are to be happy.

I don't necessarily think a mortal life means a normal life. If she has the power to accomplish much as a mortal, so would Solas. Barring that, having all the elves return to the state of being they had prior to Arlathan including Lavellan would be alright with me. I just think it would be nice for them to have compatible lifespans. I don't necessarily want him to have to give it up specifically for her. I'd rather he give up his power to do some great thing or something. Having a lifespan closer to Lavellan's would just be an enjoyable side benefit. I think her just be a blink in his life would be too sad when his greatest fear is dying alone. He's already lost enough people as it is, let someone lose him for a change (just not within the time frame of the series please).

Agreed.  We need to all give our Lavellan's some more credit.  She does deserve better.  I already wanted to trade Solas in the second Abelas said "We endure." I was like...haha yeeeeaaaaah. That guy.

That she does.  Solas is still my #1 and preferred romance, don't get me wrong, but I've been pursuing the Cullen romance on this human mage playthrough and it's nice to not have a guy give mixed messages and try to push you away.  Solas is an amazing character, but Lavellan doesn't deserve to be left hanging for the rest of her life.  I see my Lavellan as deserving to move on and find stability in a man (or woman) who actually wants to be there for her and can.

Cullen could be that person, but it may seem like a rebound like was said.  It would have to be some time (i.e. NOT right after Solas dumped or left her) without any contact from Solas.

I contemplated Merrill/Solas, but I can't see them getting along considering her "Dalishness". Also if he broke poor Merrill's heart Solas would have Varric's people, Isabela's pirates, and a very angry Carver on his tail.

Solas and Merrill might have some interesting conversations, but a romance? Too weird. Merrill is so tender and childlike. Personality-wise, she has more in common with Cole than Solas. I don't think she'd like his "ends justify the means" strategy beyond how it applies to blood magic, and I don't think he'd like her attempts to control ancient magic that she doesn't understand. Not to mention the whole da'len-hahren dynamic is exaggerated to the point of awkwardness. Weird enough to be dating a girl who's thousands of years younger than you; even weirder when she acts about fourteen. It feels like pedophilia, or something. Ick.

Seriously, where is the good hair in this game?!  This guy makes Lavellan seriously jealous!

Really really hate the hair in this game, it's frozen looking yarn.  We need long braids and flowing locks pple!!!

Now I want a painting just like that of Solas and his shiny head.

I know that we all love that Solas is a god and eternal and stuff (I do too), but I think I would be happy if how we end up with solas was just really simple.

Just you two end up living mortal lives. He gives up on trying to help all the time (because he always makes it worse). The only way to break the cycle is to just let the past go and be together and be happy. Like in some random hut somewhere being "apostate" mages.

I mean we all fell in love with an apostate mage, not the dread wolf. So I think it would be the most romantic to settle down with a man and not a god

I want all of my PCs to go on to have happy, simple lives with their LIs. Unfortunately they seem to be destined to always be caught up in something. Even the HoF - who could so totally just disappear - is off trying to cure the Calling. Heroic people have to do heroic things. It's sort of tragic how no one is able to escape from it. I sort of like it too.

Anyway I consider the Dread Wolf to be an upgrade from apostate hobo >.>

I feel like Abelas would also have issues. His name means sorrow, come on. If Lavellan is going to move on to better... well if better means "safe" she should just go find a nice alienage boy with no magical powers or face tats.

@Samantha: While I'm not a big fan of Lavellan becoming immortal, if all elves became immortal, I think that could be an interesting plot development. It is also a choice that could be implemented into the game that is pretty damn major, but wouldn't actually take a lot of effort to do.

I don't think my Levellan would move on either. Granted she didn't start or finish with anyone's best interests in mind but her own, but that attachment. And a reaver.... yandere mode activate. She took that pain and made a blade, love.

I wonder if the podcast will dive into the theories or just graze over what's already known.....

I'd like to think my Lavellan moves on if Solas doesn't come back ever. The Inquisitor isn't going to cry forever and lay down and die; she has work to do that's much more important than relationships.

If she did move on, I have to say that I once liked the idea of Cullen but now I'm picturing her with anyone but him. Just because it feels like everyone has this headcanon about Lavellan running into Cullen's arms. Some were even upset that they couldn't do just that after the ending of Solas' romance. It's left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth! Cullen deserves better than to be a rebound so I'd give him an Inquisitor all his own.

I actually can't imagine Lavellan getting with anyone else in the Inquisition. I'd say Abelas kind of works but I don't know how much he'd want to do with the Inquisitor. Not that we even know where the heck he got off too. And I feel like jumping in with another grumpy ancient elf right after Solas seems strange! Though I guess maybe Lavellan could have a type.  ;)

As for happy endings, I really still can't picture Solas' romance ending happily. I just hope we don't have to kill him in the next game or something. If they do a 'kill him or kill someone else' thing, I'm killing the other person no matter who it is. Solas 4eva  no matter what, I'm not blinded by love for him shut up!

I am not buying that Sandal's prophecy was him just saying weird ****. David Gaider did just say that they had (almost) everything planned from the beginning. And Sandal said something about an old women with a scary laugh...who people believe to be Flemeth.

Yeah, this^^!

I wouldn't want Lavellan to become immortal just to be with Solas, cuz that enters into Mary Sue territory imo.  I've been on board with the speculation of whatever Solas does gives Elves back their immortality.  In that scenario I would be ok with Lavellan becoming immortal.  But to do it just to be with Solas, ick yeah I don't really like that.  It enters into her being too lesser for him as a normal person.  And that's just crap for the both of them; they both deserve better than to be reduced to that.

Imagine the **** that would go down if suddenly the elves in the alienage stopped aging naturally. Presumably elves in Arlathan still died from accidents and the occasional disease, but all of a sudden Thedas would be facing an impoverished class that isn't going anywhere. Not a lot would happen at first, but eventually, the elves would start to outpace the humans.

I would love to see where that would take us. Would there be riots? Vengeance? Would some elves not want to be immortal? Drama!

How does Thedas compensate for such a dramatic change in what is essentially their worker class?

I could see something like Witch Hunt, where the Quizzie gets to go along with him if he was romanced, but we don't really find out what he's doing until DA4. I'd be OK with that; then they can hand-wave Lavellan away if Solas ever appears ("Ah yes, she's at home recovering from a dragon bite"). Unless they did some sort of episodic DLC... I don't feel like they can devote enough time to his story in a single DLC.

Anyway, wouldn't mind the option for tragedy. Would like the option for not-tragedy too. Then I can do multiple PTs :D

I feel like being turned mortal would drive Solas bonkers. Being mortal won't fix whatever he thinks is Wrong with the world, but it might prevent him from doing anything about it if his immortality is tied in some way to his magic. I can't see him shrugging off his duty just so he can play house with Lavellan, and I don't think he'd want her to.

But if he became mortal because his immortality was the price to pay for fixing the world. I think that would work well for him.

This is a hard choice for me. I can understand Solas not wanting to be with someone who isn't immortal. I've seen enough stories with that element to know it just plain sucks for whoever is immortal. It's not mortal Lavellan being "lesser" that bothers me about that particular kind of romance. Also, if elves were all immortal once, I wouldn't consider it Mary Sue thing. It's not like it's a strictly for Lavellan situation, especially if whatever Solas does gives all elves their immortality back.

However, immortality is no blessing and Solas isn't the only person in Lavellan's life. Even if she could be with Solas, watching everyone around her die would start to get to her in a horrible way. I don't know what could possibly make Solas mortal, though.
