I actually think Solas would be miserable as a mortal.

Probably. Also probably miserable without his power. But there's no way he's returning to the side of good the way he is. So long as he stays powerful, he's an antagonist, he's dead, or he's gone. Losing his power is likely the only way people get the much desired "happy" ending.

He'd be alive and he could learn to adjust. It's better than a lot of possible endings for him. Alternately, he could be like Morpheus from Sandman and

In that case, do we need Mythal?

She wouldn't stand for anyone asking what kind of milkshake she is. Probably.

I'd say mint, by the way. It would be called a Minthal shake.

I WANT TO LIKE THIS BUT I CAN'T!

You're killing me!

Next thing you know he'll be writing Mythal x Sylaise fanfiction.

Well, this is Flemeth/Mythal. She'd probably laugh and then forward it to Morrigan.

Sometimes I forget that all the power we see in the game is actually Solas'.The giant explosion at the beginning, the rifts, the floating mountain at the end. That was all Solas' power.

Imagine how powerful he would be if he was the one wielding it. He actually knows how to use it.

It's terrifying to think about.

scared-and-horny.gif

As to whether Lavellan moves on or not. I don't know. In real life, it's always healthier for a woman to move on from a relationship that doesn't work. But this is a fantasy world. I imagine that Lavellan senses something special about Solas even though she doesn't know his true identity. She may find that no one else can compare to him or evoke the same emotions in her that he evoked. She may feel that it's better to have no romantic relationship than to settle for someone who isn't Solas. That's how I imagine my Lavellan to be. No real life man is worth all this trouble, but a god is. =)

Edit: And when I say she doesn't move on I don't mean that she's going to be depressed all the time. She's still going to get **** done. She's just not going to fall for another person. Relationships aren't everything anyway. Saving the world is more important.

Terrwyn is like that. She'll still get **** done, and eventually feel better, you know? She will even try to date other men for a while, especially the Dalish lad who pursued her in her clan. But in the end, she'll stop trying to reclaim the feelings she felt with Solas and remain alone the rest of her life. She was alone to begin with...she can endure it.

Now for Elgar'Asha...she'll move on, have a husband, but refuse children. At the back of her mind, she will always love Solas, but she can't get hurt like that agian.

What about Flemint?
Flavor wise she's probaby mystery flavored, like the old drippings of multiple milkshakes mixed together.

That's an assumption, though.  We don't know for sure that he will be an antagonist; he may merely be a catalyst.  And, his having power does not preclude a happy or at least open-ended sort of finale to the romance, especially since what he intends to do will likely bring Magic to Everyone, All The People Everywhere.  Even the dwarves!  What with having the Anchor, Lavellan might end up super-powerful, too.

On the one hand, Solas being a godlike being with unimaginably great power might make him less of an equal to Lavellan at this point... on the other, I don't think he values raw power as much as he values intellect, so as far as he's concerned, she would still be an equal and partner to him.

Headcanon: Dalish teenagers practice their letters by writing smutty, awful God x God fanfiction. Dirthamen x Falon'Din is an especially popular pairing with a certain segment of ladies. After he leaves, Solas stumbles upon a cache of these, including a copy of "Freaky in the Fade" by a "______ Lavellan", a seventeen-chapter epic love fic between star-crossed Fen'Harel and Andruil that culminates in a so-bad-it's-good dirty, awful, sex scene that only a horny teenager would write.

I got a little ahead of myself there...

Side-note, my puppy just sniffed my tea and seems to hate it as much as Solas: he's barking at it as if it's possessed.

Awwww man I am out of likes :(.

+for Brass.  Btw I read your story, I really like how you're writing Abelas.

+for Lorien.

I'm enjoying writing Abelas.  I don't have to worry as much about messing up his "voice" since he barely speaks, compared to Solas.  I know I am not writing Solas right because iambic pentameter is HARD.  Do you know how hard it is to start a sentence on an unstressed syllable?  DO YOU??????  So I mostly just try to start on an unstressed syllable, and, uh... don't even try for the pentameter...

That said I'm still not sure if Fic-Uth'shiral is going to end up back with Solas or if she's gonna throw up her hands into the air and go spend the rest of her days adventuring with Abelas.  ... That could be a story title, there.  Adventuring with Abelas.  Like he's the star of a reality TV show or something, Thedas-style.

Imagine Origins with Flemeth as a companion. There wouldn't have been any struggle, she'd have had the power and knowledge to simply fix things. Solas may be on the side of good, but that isn't going to be the side of the protagonist because he removes the possibility of any real conflict unless he acts exactly like Flemythal and only nudges.

If he remains powerful and capable of manipulating the world with the intentions to make sweeping changes, what's the point of having two games planned out? What would they even be about with a god who was both able and willing to fix things present?

So...I don't see Solas and Lavellan having a power imbalance. I mean, he may have had power in Arlathan and he might be magically powerful when he isn't suffering from grogginess...but Lavellan is the Inquisitor. She has a lot of authority in southern Thedas. She can have Orlais eating out of the palm of her hand if the right choices are made. She has a close relationship with the next Divine. She can have people executed if she wants. She can make people dance in bad shoes to entertain her if she wants. She can disband a longstanding organization. She can exile another. Being the Herald of Andraste she is practically worshiped already.

We probably won't play the Inquisitor again, though--I would not assume we would.  Also, just because he won't be in the party again (if there WERE a second game starring the Inquisitor) doesn't mean the two will never again be together.  And anyway, as I pointed out, by the time he achieves whatever he's set out to do, the Inquisitor might be as magically powerful as he is.

AWWWW YYEAAAHH SOLAS YOU MY JAM

Our lovely crazy Sashimi does it again! Woooo!
Great video as always dear. However, the only thing, and I mean only thing, I disagree with is the bald hunched man in the painting being Sharatan. Wasn't it already proven pages ago that it was a disciple of andrastates holding her ashes? However! It was also shown in the same set of paintings, the other guy next to him with the hood and strong elven features is more likely Sharatan. The hood covering his ears. But look at his nose. He's in the last two out of three. He's holding a crown on one and standing behind her in the other.

Omg I can't find it... But yeah. Lol.
Keep up the videos! Seeing our crazy theories in video form makes me happy.

You really think they're going to make a PC god tier?

I didn't necessarily mean as an actual companion but the point still stands. A god that's both willing and able to fix things is problematic for storytelling because you need to come up with reasons why he doesn't just fix things. Why is the protagonist even necessary?

Top of page Solas!

When everyone has magic and we're not playing the Inquisitor any longer, it probably won't seem that overpowered.  Because everyone is going to have magic... and she's got the Anchor, which is already super-powerful.

A PC can be god-tier, if we aren't playing him/her anymore.  But equally likely, Lavellan/the Inquisitor is going to have to die.

I can't see them setting up Fen'harel for three games, only to let him fall as soon as he appears, via a DLC or something.  No, they want him around for another game or two to influence things.  Probably, next game, he will be either a catalyst or an accidental villain.  We may end up needing to kill him at the end of the game, or a more direct villain may appear as a result of his actions (everyone having magic, the Veil being dropped... yeah, I can't imagine anyone taking advantage of that, can you?--I am being sarcastic here.),  Either way, once we are no longer playing the Inquisitor, there's nothing but plot to keep Solas and Lavellan apart.

I assume we won't need to worry much about a power scale if Solas is an ally rather than an antagonist. If he's the good guy, presumably there will be a bad guy to counter him and Mythal. If not another elven god, then whatever force is behind the red lyrium, or a yet unrevealed character. Something has Flemeth/Mythal worried if they are taking all these super advanced actions.

He will probably be just the occasional ally of whoever the player character is, taking on a similar role as Flemeth once had. And if Solas is the antagonist, he probably wouldn't be the main antagonist either. The power scale will always adjust to suit the characters surrounding us.

Thanks to the design doc:

I just hope that whatever Solas is trying to do, it would have a lot of good results along with the bad ones. That way, you can debate all day about whether what he did was right/worth it. I just find it a bit lame to have him make mistakes again and again and never learn from it.
