He cried while writing the romance ![]()
Patrick, you can make it ALL better! You can do it!
He also said he cried while writing Solas, especially the romance. And apologized to the Solasmancers. ![]()
thank you everyone for the transcription. I LOVE his description of the break-up scene
though I think it's going to make it still a little more painful next time I watch it.
And once again, it seems there's at least a little bit of Gaider writing in another character I love, btw.
"What does Garrus' skin taste like."

Let the meme never die.
Weekes you meanie!
I hope that we're not on a road of never-ending sadness. I refuse to believe. Solas needs redemption! Solas needs love!
I agree but still staying optimistic.... ![]()
Also Weekes apologized to us like twice on there...he also said it broke his heart writing that part. ![]()
I wish I could hug the guy right now....

He's happy about our responses. . . The Bastard. ![]()
So it's true. He really turns around there, when he wants to tell you the TRUTH.
He wanted to tell her the TRUTH TRUTH. Everything.
And we were also right with the "When I don't turn around now, it's all over" - moment.
It's all true.

...
NOOOOOOO!!!! T_T
Weekes cried while writing him, we cried while romancing him, everybody cries and everything hurts and...
This is a serious relapse right here and today.
*SOB*
I fear the implications this interview seems to hold about Solas future/romance closure. Esp when PW admits that the romance was added largely to demonstrate the deep, unutterable sadness of the Solas character. Grumpy? Dude, I'm grumpy when my dog wipes dirty paws on my bed. This is just shattering.
I DON'T WANT ANY OF YOU DOUBTING SOLAS' FEELINGS AFTER THIS YOU HEAR ME! *shakes fist*
I fear the implications of this interview.
Fear them in what way?
Fear them in what way?
It's very much about how sad of a character Solas is. Makes it kind of seem like "sad" is where he'll be staying.
Damn, that guy just didn't let Weekes talk enough. Why? WHY?! Couldn't he shut up about his own experiences or what he thought about the characters. DX
Headcannon is nice and all, but come on, the writer was right there!
I'm listening to this Nerd Appropriate Podcast.
WHY ARE THEY SAYING SOLAS IS THE BAD GUY?
Noooooooooooooooooooo

**** man... I don't know how I feel anymore...
That can't be it!
The Solas/Female Elf romance is up there with Cousland Warden+Morrigan in terms of great romance subplots.
I wish there was more of a way to turn Solas into a best guy friend while playing as a male sort of like how female wardens can do it with Morrigan in Origins. He is by far my favourite companion and yet half of his greatness seems best with an elf inquisitor. Tfw can't play a male elf until they don't look like north korean prison campers.
I feel like if I said "I told you so", someone would kick me, lol.
Haha it's more like kicking us while we're down. ![]()

This gif is the best way to sum up how I feel.
He cried when writing the romance!!!! AHHHHHH!!! I'm so sad now TT.TT Is this going to be the first BW romance with no chance of a 'happy' resolution? Noooo, do not want! What do I need to do to make that not happen? On the bright side, it's satisfying to know that a lot of us were right in thinking he went to the last romance scene fully intending to tell her everything.
OK so before I wanted Lavellan to find out about Solas' identity on her own. I felt like that would give her power, and she wouldn't be the clueless little elf anymore. But after listening to this interview I kind of want Solas to tell Lavellan himself. I feel like that would be such a big thing for his development. That would be him at his most vulnerable, both because he would actually be trusting Lavellan completely and because he'd be opening himself up to a reaction that would undoubtedly hurt him in some way (If her reaction is negative, it hurts because he doesn't want her to hate him. If her reaction is positive it's almost worse, because then he has to justify hurting her before and leaving her to do whatever it is he needs to do). Revealing his identity and his plans would undoubtedly open things up for Lavellan to contest them, and I feel like he has a lot of doubt about his ideas even though he is 100% committed to them. It would be really hard for him, and I'm sure he knows that.
To be fair, it isn't like they could spin it any other way than sad with the knowledge we have at the moment. [Except of course, if Solas had been lying about everything.] So the only two directions we can go into is sad or evil. I'll take sad.
Comparing him to Mordin though:
Ok so the interview makes me sad, but it also makes sense. I am just hoping that even if it's a tragic endng, Lavellan gets the choice to follow Solas to his death or something.
