I just noticed something too

Wasn't Corypheus blue in DA2, I mean like the stuff that sticks to his body?

And in DAI he's red, maybe he got corrupted by red lyrium or something too

I hope this isn't mentioned in game, I can remember haha

Also, when he uses the orb...

Orb2.PNG

It could be that adding the red lyrium to it is what caused it to break. Very interesting.

You're right. He was blue in DA2. Does that mean he has lyrium melted into his body from...whatever terrible thing happened to him in the Fade?

You're not crazy, I was saying more or less the same thing about Solas' reaction, dumat and the like. Long story short and to avoid getting way off topic, I agree. The old gods want to be awakened, and Solas likely knows that.
Which as the astrariums suggest, and his reaction suggests, the old gods are indeed the elven forgotten ones.

Also, even a warden's death doesn't destroy the old gods. Dumat's sanctuary shows he still has power, as he summoned demons if you defiled it, and Cornflakes was granted his power in DA 2 when called upon. The old gods are still around, and awakening them means something bad for everyone, likely, as they're referred to as the "pillars of the world".

The Dumat altar in Legacy summons demons, but that doesn't prove Dumat is still alive.  It just means demons are responding instead.  And considering that Corypheus is doing what he does in DA:I because he believes all the gods are false, and he's taking it very badly, I think that means he hasn't been in contact with anything that identifies itself as Dumat for a very long time.  Old Gods have their souls destroyed when a Grey Warden kills them, it's the only way to stop them from regenerating.  The only known exception being Urthemiel, provided the Dark Ritual was performed.

So if Old God souls are keys, they're already missing most of them.  I do subscribe to the idea that the Old Gods are the Forgotten Ones though, the same type of beings as the Creators, just in dragon form.  Which is a reason I believe Solas is upset with the idea of killing them.

I honestly think the Forgotten Ones may not actually exist. They are just the remnants and memories that the Dalish ancestors had of the crueler nature of their gods. Which is why Fen'Harel is considered to be a kin to both of them. He's the only god that they are willing to remember the bad parts of.

The old gods themselves are the trapped elven gods. [In my theory.]

I found him so dull I actually forgot he was on the ship.

This was me, too!

Though I remember that option to flirt with Jacob was really awkward and made me feel like some kind of creep.

Oh, come on.  We all know this is how Solas acted when he sneaked into the Inquisitor's quarters.

eww, I don't want Solas to act like that.

What I pretty much got out of the interview was that the Solas romance was included only for characterization sake - to make him a more sympathetic villain.  Oh dear.  Can we all agree that it backfired, albeit in a good way?

Please let our Lavellans move on!  Please, I'm begging you BioWare guys!

This thread is threatening to kill me again.

On the topic of Corypheus, even if he came across as weak to some people in DAI I found it interesting how he seems to be someone so bitterly jaded about his beliefs from what he found in the Black City that he sort of... went mad? trying to find a way to make sense of himself and the world, and in doing so wanted to become a god where none existed. Makes him stand out as something more than an ugly endboss antagonist when you start thinking of it that way.

It could mean that, but with everything that's happened, I don't see Bioware dropping these little hints and it going nowhere. Especially the text about the old gods being pillars. That's new I'm pretty sure. And they gave us a text that proves that the old gods call out to the blight, and the blight isn't what detects them.

In the western approach, there's a note next to a hole in the ground leading to the deep roads. The wardens were searching for old gods, and when they got close to one, its song was so loud, it shook the earth and caused the ground to collapse. That proves they're actively sending signals. In other words, there has to be an end game here, something this is leading up to. It makes more sense that Solas would be upset about them killing the old gods if killing them was the key to releasing them and the veil truly. Otherwise, he'd just be upset because they're kin, and that seems kind of lame and underwhelming for that sort of reaction.

He was very very upset, and it seems like there's more to it than that for me. They were basically undoing everything he sacrificed for, making it pointless. Also, just because the grey wardens think they destroyed the soul, doesn't mean they necessarily did. You can't really destroy spirits. Perhaps gods can reform as themselves eventually.

Don't be sad!

Romance Solas. Heavy risk, but the thiiiiiiiighs.

He would have been such a great romance, but the liiiiiiiiiies.

;)

Too much sadness in the air. Post happy headcanons about Solas or your Inquisitor and Solas!

I laughed for like 20 min. at this.  I always knew Jacob was the WORST.  Why had I NEVER seen that video.

Also Happy Headcanon:

Happy Head Canon About Solas and my Lavellan - My Lavellan wants to travel across the Amaranthine Ocean to see what's on the other side.  She told Solas once when looking at maps. Said "When this is all done, we should go." The 'we' killed him. He wanted nothing more than to do that immediately.   When they finally reconcile, they go travel.  Isabela takes them.  Cassandra is there too. And Cole.  And Shale.  They all have ridiculous adventures and noone dies tragically.

Ok people. Need moar Solas. Here's one from vg247 from their walkthrough. Which is weird because I was googling Corypheus models to compare DA2 and DAI.

It wasn't just the flirts that were awkward, it was the way she spoke to him in general.  My Shepard was 100% committed to Liara and she talked to him like she wanted his prize then and there.
