Not really. I think most of us like Solas because he's the sweet intelligent type who also happens to be smooth and passionate. Jocab just seemed sleezy to me in that scene. Not smooth or sexy. EWWW

 

i actually hadn't seen the jacob romance scene until today (i usually watch videos of other romances, whether i plan to do the eventually or not, so i think that's a good indication of just how uninterested i was in jacob xD) and it......really creeped me out >____<  the whole scene was just creepy and NOT sexy to me at all.

 

what i love most about solas' romance is his (quiet) passion?  i dunno if that makes sense.  he seems the most restrained of all your companions, yet with each kiss, there's so much passion and emotion that you can almost feel it.  it's also a tragic romance to me, and that's what draws me to him, as well.  this may sound terrible, but i think my lavellan would do/give anything to help solas with his goals.

Exactly my thought- but it leads me to a different conclusion.  My guess is that our darling, bald, wolfy apostate has pretty much decided to forgo companionship, since his goals, whatever they are, don't seem to be compatible with romance.  It also makes it all the more poignant a choice since on of his biggest fears is dying alone

 

I don't think it's quite that cut and clear? I think the whole thing is kind of a messy, honestly. No one has had a chance to talk to him about what he's doing other than Flemythal. She either agrees with him or saw no reason to stop him. Hopefully the Inquisitor will get to talk to him again before it's all said and done.

Oh god, that Vega video. Shepard getting a gay subordinate drunk enough that she can crawl onto him and... Right, I didn't realize Shepard could be any creepier than she was in ME2 with Jacob, but that takes the priiiize.

Now I can't even play. I just passed that point in the game and every time I click on the Hierophant card or switch to Solas to activate a spell, I can't do anything but wibble.

-shrugs- maybe.  I'm just a sucker for the super-sad, lonely forever, anti-hero, so that's always going to be my take when it seems applicable.  Maybe because my real-life is a drama-free zone, I like the "ultimate sadness and doomed to be forever apart and longing" thing in my fantasy worlds.  I really hope there's a HEA for you guys though.  Seems like it could be a possible choice.

Mythal's essence, if that was what Flemmeth Captain Kathryn Janeway put into the eluvian at the end, she should totally seek out the Inquisitor for her new host because they apparently have so much common. Like y'know, they both got their soul sucked out by the same man.

 

And I still am waiting for a where's baldo DLC. Like with a sweater and everything.

 

If there is a DLC, I really really really  want to be able to break open the doors to the black city and become a blighted god.  Like you go, ascend to godhood, then as a result the blight kills all your companions, you're left all alone and then Solas and Mythal in high dragon form come to stop you and you have to fight two high dragons on your own.  That would be my ideal DLC, but then again Im probably the only person in the world who actually liked the darkspawn chronicles DLC

I think this, too. I think he will either turn into something horrible and we'll have to kill him, or he will sacrifice himself in some way to protect or help his people. I think he knows that, and thus does not want anyone else to hurt when his future is so certainly bleak.

Is it bad that I always sabotage the genophage cure?  Seriously, I do not want the universe to be overrun with krogan and I don't think they're smart enough to control themselves.

 

That having been said, yeah, I'd have no problem blowing up the world to be Solas' "Queen of Shadows" just to see it happen, but that wouldn't be my canon playthrough and I definitely would not enjoy it as much as I would having Lavellan find true happiness with another, even if "good" Lavellan has to kill Solas in the end.

 

It's about growing up.  Seriously.  I don't want my Lavellan to be stuck in tragic-emo-desperate first love forever.

I feel the same way, honestly.  I think that after some time, she could very well move on (and moving on =/= rebound) with someone new.  I could even see her friendship with someone else of her inner circle developing into something more.  I don't want her pining over someone who doesn't even want to be with her (or does, but can't because reasons he won't share).  I want her to be happy in a stable, healthy relationship.  She can't have that with Solas.  If she does, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Happy DA:I headcanon: Clariel Lavellan really does not like sweets.  She especially finds Orlesian desserts to be cloying and overpoweringly sugary.  When Solas finds out, he starts quietly helping himself to her dessert, since she's not going to finish it anyway and food should never go to waste.  She notices, but pretends not to, turning away to hide her smile every time she sees him sneak one of the little frilly cakes off her plate.  The only things he won't try to steal are Sera's god-awful cookies.

 

Painfully saccarine, disgustingly fluffy modern AU headcanon based on my Sims game: Solas is a professor of Fade studies at the University of Orlais, and Lavellan is a graduate student of international relations, working with Leliana.  Dorian and Varric set the two of them up on a blind date, only for Solas to recognize her from an undergraduate class a few years ago.  They proceed to hit it off over fancy dinner, and it's cute and sweet and everything ends happily ever after

Oh, I dunno, never played ME3. I thought he was. Anyway there is no man in the ME universe but Garrus.

He was definitely interesting, with his angle of lost faith and giving people something real to have faith in. I think he just got overshadowed by all the ancient elven stuff happening, especially after the stinger. He didn't feel quite as... connected to the story maybe?

 

I liked Corypheus, but it helps if you played Legacy right before DAI... I had just finished a DA2 run, so his character was fresh in my mind. His introduction was great. Unfortunately those who didn't play DA2, or hadn't played it for a long time, missed out on some crucial characterization. Also it seems you really have to do both a mage and templar run at least once in DAI to get the full picture. I actually felt kinda bad, he was a tragic villain.

Fair enough! I think feelings are messy and probably going to be messy if Lavellan and Solas meet again but it could really go either way. Hopefully if they do there's not just one way for things to end.

What if the first two have to do with the beginning of darkspawn? Depending on when those were painted, you could make a case for lyrium corrupted elves, or red lyrium enhancing the corrupting effect to become the shrieks we see in DAO. They're less elaborate than the elves riding battle Halla. No real designs to them, and they're missing pieces of their head where the brain is. Like...how zombies no longer have the capacity to think for themselves or only focus on one very specific thing. Reapers anyone?

 

The red-winged dragon could be one of Flemeth's lackeys, or a dragon facing corruption. What could be more terrifying than the patron animal of Mythal losing itself to corruption, especially if you've already been subjugated by the Tevinters?

Oh God... it was awful!  My Sheps were almost evenly split between no-mance, Liara, and Garrus (I think I may have done a Thane playthrough at some point because of the whole tragic thing, but I can't remember) so I never saw this, and by the time I got to the ending of ME3 I was way, waaaaayyyyy too burnt to ever look up any youtube stuff or do more than post a few half-hearted comments on the forum.  Even after the fun of the Citadel DLC, I was still a bit too raw to really look up and see what other people had experienced.  This is the first time I saw this trainwreck- how squicky!  Part of the reason I could never romance Kaidan (pre-ME3, 왕자병 Kaidan that is- couldn't stand his whiny-ness in 3, so I was glad I never made it through a Kaidan-mance) was because I can not get past the idea of sleeping with an LT under my command... the former soldier in me just will not go there- reminds too much of the craziness that seemed all too common during deployments.  This video grossed me out on that level- making a subordinate feel as if... well... yuck.  And if he's actually gay and you got him drunk and jumped him???  I didn't get that from the video, but if it's true then .  Ugh- back to on-topic Sad Solas before I puke!
