Okay, I still  cannot catch up with the thread, you're too fast, guys

First of all, thank you for retelling the podcast!

Secondly - we're all doomed! I feel it isn't going to end well, so I gracefully leave team optimism. I have no solid arguments, just this sickly gut feeling, and writers rarely abandon their core ideas of bittersweet plots just to do fanservice.

I must say, I am a grown-up woman and I totally squee at all this Solas content. Literally. Last time I squeed like this was when I read Rochester's confession to Jane Eyre.

It is so very disturbing.

I'm team pessimism right now, but I switch between optimism and pessimism quite often.

 

I want there to be a happy ending, though.  If not, then let there be a moment where my Lavellan learns the truth first-hand from Solas and gets a chance to say good bye.  She deserves THAT much from him.

do you guys think that solas' romance will end badly, regardless on your decisions? like holy **** solas' romance is super sad and we all know now that he's a sad lonely person so do you think weekes will continue that sad lonely thing til the end? or maybe there'll be a happy ending?? I WANT THERE TO BE A HAPPY ENDING.

Team Optimism is here but flailing under the weight of negativity.  I don't see why we can't get a positive outcome, something I always say in this situation..BANAL NADAS!

I don't know. She hasn't had a chance to confront him.  He may not have betrayed the elven people as people thought but he betrayed her. Betrayed the inquisition.  Usually when people are actually confronted with that, backed into a corner, things change.  He gave her no opportunity to consider anything.  He took the decision away from her which was incredibly unfair but it always removes the ability for her to convince him.  Which - with someone as smart as Solas - makes me think he considered that too.  He would likely have been too weak to say 'no' to her.

Jup my thoughts too. My Lavellan would have said "you are not alone. I'll help you" or "No, don't do that. We find another way!" (depending on what his plans are)

And he would have never said no to her.

This is the reason he has to walk away. :-(

I think it could end badly. It could also end pretty well. All that was said in the podcast is that Solas is a sad panda and we knew that. (Also confirmation that he was going to tell the truth.)

Team Optimism. Weekes is piling on the pain so that it would be all the sweeter when the happy ending comes.

I don't think Solas's romance will end badly.

 

I don't know if it will end in a happy ending where they get to go off and be together...but after hearing the podcast, I think its fairly clear that they don't intend to have Solas fall off a cliff and just decide to be evil. He may be wrong, but he has good intentions. His feelings for Lavellan weren't only legitimate, but for a brief moment he considered throwing everything down on the table and being honest with her. That's a fairly huge character revelation. 

 

I don't hear gloom and doom from that podcast. If anything, I feel a lot more hope that good things will come of this, in some form or another.
