It's strange. IRL, I am labeled as a pessimist by many but when I come here, I feel like such a rare optimistic breed (unicorn!). I somehow forgot to purchase my tickets to the Solavellan is Doomed Club.

 

That's okay- I'm ridiculously optimistic IRL, but when it comes to fantasy (not scifi though- I'm a hopeless worshiper of the Roddenberry future), the darker and gloomier the better!  I want all the feels!!!!!

I don't think Solas's romance will end badly.

 

I don't know if it will end in a happy ending where they get to go off and be together...but after hearing the podcast, I think its fairly clear that they don't intend to have Solas fall off a cliff and just decide to be evil. He may be wrong, but he has good intentions. His feelings for Lavellan weren't only legitimate, but for a brief moment he considered throwing everything down on the table and being honest with her. That's a fairly huge character revelation. 

 

I don't hear gloom and doom from that podcast. If anything, I feel a lot more hope that good things will come of this, in some form or another.

I found it very satisfying to at least get confirmation that it was real for Solas.  I always felt that it was, but it's still nice to hear it from the person who wrote it.  I appreciate that he told us just how far Solas had fallen.  I was a bit surprised that he almost walked away from everything for Lavellan.  That knowledge makes everything a bit sadder, but at the same time makes me feel better about the heart break that scene caused.

I wonder if Patrick had any idea that Solas was going to be received in such a way.  I still feel blindsided by how much that bald elf affected me.  Never expected it.  It's nice that BioWare can still surprise me in such a way.

How does this work in a no-Keiran run, though? Or one where he isn't an OGB? He can't be the key if he doesn't exist or doesn't have Urthemiel's soul.

 

It's an interesting theory though. And maybe it's something like the gods became blighted or corrupt and had to be locked away, but the intent was always to gain enough power again to help or heal them later. Would be a bit more interesting than some derp-release-angry-gods plan.

 

 

For a no Keiran run through the soul is released just like all the other dragon souls that were killed. The one with Keiran just gives us more hints and answers. 

 

That's just my opinion.

Noooo..... not like those at all! Solas and Quizzie will be together in the real canon, not just my headcanon! They must! I feel like my canon PT is standing one-legged on a balance beam juggling the Warden/Zevran, Hawke/Fenris, and Lavellan/Solas in the air. No one's been dropped yet, but the situation is definitely precarious. Hope we all make it to the other side! If not Lavellan is SoL and my canon PTs gonna turn tragic 'cause I just can't get into the other Inquisition romances enough to keep them as my canon (sorry Cullen). Help me Solas, you're my only hope!

They might have, I mean while the characters almost all have depth to them, Solas's motivations, his tragedy, his sorrow, are so complex, so itneresting.  Afterall, whether in his own body or

inherited from being possessed by Fen Harel his emotions, experiences, and motivations, are thousands of years old coming from dealing with the fate of an entire people and their gods, once you have the reveal at the end everything Solas does and says takes on new meaning, new weight.

 

 

They had to know he would be a powerful character, and you can see it in the romance, see the implication of how powerful his love for Lavellan must be that he allows himself such indulgences with her, knowing what he knew

Don't be too down, people! I mean, worst case scenario would have been Weekes going: "Oh no, he's just an evil dude and Lavellan was just too damn fine to resist." That would have been cause for pessimism. Finding out that the romance was sad isn't exactly a shock- everyone is sad. It is working as intended. Anything else isn't going to be spoiled in an interview.

I romanced him as well, in my second play through.  I am glad I did it.  I think I needed that.  It's a well done romance for totally different reasons, and has it's own depth.  I like that it is sweet, with a happy ending without feeling like pandering or empty.  Cullen is a great character and his growth is fantastic.

do you guys think that solas' romance will end badly, regardless on your decisions? like holy **** solas' romance is super sad and we all know now that he's a sad lonely person so do you think weekes will continue that sad lonely thing til the end? or maybe there'll be a happy ending??
