David's there, right?
Yeah, Gaider and Weekes are both gonna be on the panel.

My dad had a mustache for most of my life. He started going clean-shaven when he was deployed to Kuwait about five years ago? But it was your basic, well-kept Magnum, nothing fancy. It's Blackwall's personality so far that reminds me of my dad...I think it's the committed long-time soldier with a raucous center thing.
Weirdly enough, my dad is slightly older than Blackwall (52), yet seems a lot younger, which is probably why I also tend to read Blackwall as being more grandfatherly.
I grew up around my grandad who just had REALLY scratchy stubble. I used to hate when he hugged me.
During my early childhood, I only knew my uncle as that scary guy with the huge scratchy beard that hugged and kissed me twice a year (Christmas and Easter). I feared him. ![]()

XD I used to tell him it hurt a wee bit anyway but nope didn't care. Giant hug and me squirming to get away while being laughed at
And yes I used to try to hide when he came home after a trip, always got caught ![]()
Anyone else still hoping Solas ties into the Felassan plot somehow? I mean, what with Weekes writing him and all... They don't have to be the same person, and Solas doesn't have to be ancient, for Solas to somehow tie into that plot. I remember waaaaay back when I speculated that Weekes may have written Solas in order to tie him to the plot of TME somehow. I still wonder. Will not know until October, alas.
Felassan was never confirmed as an ancient elf, right? People have assumed because of knowledge he had. Maybe they were both just rift mages and he knew it from memories, like Solas sees. Possibly they learned it from a similar source.

Yeah I actually thought of that as well. Solas may even have learned from, or taught, Felassan. Felassan was not necessarily ancient, though I'll be the first to say that it would be completely awesome if we could meet a true ancient elf. Then again, BioWare would probably just troll us and he or she would end up with a "charming" Javik-like personality.

It's in the back of my mind... Could Solas be Felassan, or Felassan's brother, or Felassan's son, or Felassan's paperboy, etc....
With or without the ancient elf theory, the possibilities bounce around. Mostly I'm very suspicious that he's involved with the big bad in some respect. Maybe Solas wiil simply be what he appears to be, and that's more than sweet, but the suspicion still lurks... ![]()
What I'm curious about is why there is a city in the Tevinter Imperium named Solas. It makes me think Solas is not his real name.

I forgot about that city. I wonder if Dorian might have something to say about that.

I think someday we might meet one, but they might save it for a later game. Maybe we'll eventually find a way to wake up one or more. That would definitely be interesting. I could definitely see them having a "Javik" like attitude, though. Maybe not quite that bad, but I imagine they wont be pleased with the state of the world and will probably look down on the current people for going so far backwards.
As for Felassan and Solas, I wonder if maybe they didn't both learn it from another individual. Felassan wasn't attached to the Dalish like most, so I feel like maybe his ties were somewhere else. Solas doesn't have much of a connection to modern elves either. It's possible Solas is totally self taught and a complete loner, but it's also possible that he and Felassan have ties to the same individual or group to learn the rift mage (or whatever unique spec Solas has) abilities.
I am hoping they are somehow tied, or that Felassen at least gets a mention since, despite being a relatively minor character, he was easily my favorite in TME. Regardless if he and Solas have anything to do with each other, i get the impression his story isn't quite over yet (what with the vageuness of... the, um, thing). Still there's just enough of a similarity between the two characters that it would strike me as weird if they didn't have anything to do with each other... Or at least for certain characters from the book to not point out a similarity, should we meet them in game.
Well, honestly, since the violet eyes may have been a bug for Solas, we don't really know that they have anything at all in common. Because of spoilery things, I can say it's not likely they're the same person--though, given in-game events, it's possible.
Basically, all Solas might have in common with Felassan is mode of dress--and even that is not really the case. Felassan dressed very Dalish. Solas just dresses like some dude who's been living in the woods for a while--there's no Dalish detailing on his attire, but there ARE some patterns with typical Orlesian elements. And yet he's no city elf... so how'd he get his clothing? Theft? Traded furs for it? I have no idea... he doesn't stay totally away from society though even by Weekes's interview's info.
I still suspect Felassan to be an ancient elf. Again, that doesn't mean Solas is, but they may have crossed paths just as Felassan crossed paths with Briala. Of course, if Felassan were not ancient, we also have reason to suspect him to NOT be Dalish, so he may have learned what he knew the same way Solas does. I still want to clear up who on Thedas that Felassan elf is, exactly. With Weekes as the writer, yeah, there doesn't HAVE to be a connection between him and Solas, but I just seriously feel like there is. There's something. I don't know what it is...
Maybe I'm just seeing potential connections where there are none?
Another thing, is that every time I see someone theorize that the big bad might be a greater pride demon, I remember what Solas' name translates to in elven. *twilight zone music* He seems like such a sweet hippie guy, I'm kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop... What's the pepper in that scotch bonnet candy?
This isn't something I'd have a problem with tho, I'd love it if Solas turned out to play a major role in the plot, and that usually involves drama.
As much as I loved Felassen, I kinda want Solas to just be his own, separate character (his sense of humor can be the same, though). I get a sense that Felassen was more of an...exposition character, someone who could provide lore and help establish Briala's role (and the role of certain unnamed others) in the civil war and Inquisition. His job is done, I think, and what will come from it will probably be much, much larger than Solas.

Oh don't get me wrong. I don't think he and Solas are the same person, I just think that they are connected in some way.

I agree, definitely. Though I could have sworn Felassen was also bald? Unless I was totally imagining him that way for no reason? Could be the case... I don't have the book handy to check...
Again, I might have missed something, but I didn't recall his hood ever being removed so we'd know one way or another. He was described as older, but of indeterminate age. THAT part certainly sounds familiar...
