Just think for a moment how that scene could have gone, where he did in fact tell her everything.

"The truth. Do you remember when I said the orb was elven?"

"...Yes?"

"It is my orb."

"But... you said they were foci dedicated to the gods of our pantheon."

"Yes."

"Then that means you're...?"

"Yes."

"Who are you?"

"I... am the Dread Wolf."

"Well... ****."

Lol.!!!

Javik's "romance" was pretty disturbing, too...

*eye twitch*

I thought it was quite hillarious actually.

I gave up any attempt to keep up with this thread.

That is probably the wise thing to dop

It's 9:30am here and I've already run out of likes! How did this happen?!

So for those of you that play Pokémon and Dragon Age...anyone have a particular Solas pokemon? I'm naming all mine after DA characters (because why not) and trying to decide which one should be our favorite apostate.

 Luxray or absol.

I have X and Alpha Sapphire. I was pretty hardcore about X for a while in trying to breed perfect pokemon but I'm much lazier about Sapphire. Can't wait until I can move my team over though, I have some nice pokemon on X.

My friend code is 3668-9228-5146 if anyone wants to be buddies! I have a few other popular games too (Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem) if people aren't interested in pokemon.

And...I'm stealing your Marill idea too! So many good ideas!

Can I add you to my list?

I knew it! Here Lies the Abyss was THE BEST quest ever!

It had some really really jarring moments though, tbh. Hawke and the wardens arguing in particular, and hawke going 'corypheus is mine..' when. it wasnt corypheus they were fighting. If not for those things it would have been my favorite.
If they released a short comic (maybe a penny arcade one) about what Default Hawke was doing/investigating. I wound not have found it so jarring..

Erm I have to catch up (again. Stupid sleep) so I don't know if someone already mentioned it, sorry, but wanted to share this.

Regarding Soals= Shartan theory: someone a few pages back said that this man was Havard, carrying Andraste's ashes.

Spoiler

But the codex says he was wounded when he tried to stop the soldiers from taking andraste, and he was too late to stop the execution: when he got there he only found her ashes.

Spoiler

yet in the paintings we see him there, present during the execution:

Spoiler

This of course could be nothing, but I found it interesting.

Now back to my new lovely Lavellan!

EDIT: omg english is hard

Just pointing out that the bottom left pic has some massive feet in it on the lower right.  A statue?

First playthrough I be like "oh cool homie, I'd search for all them devices, you do your magicy thingy and make dat veil stronger. We'd be like superhero hippies!"

Now I'm like "should I? Should I really? He disapproved me drinking from the well... I need to regain the approval, but... Is this a good idea? Would this come back to bite me in the ass later on?"

I don't think he's lying about what the elven artifacts do.  They are deactivated; activating them makes the Veil stronger.  Why he is reinforcing the Veil when he seems to prefer it to be gone, I don't know.  Perhaps it's something that needs to be done before he can remove the Veil in a more proper fashion.  Perhaps, as others have suggested, he has no intention of bringing down the Veil at all, although to me it seems likely he does.

I wonder if his actual intent is to kill the other ancient gods/put them out of their misery?

I just noticed something too

Wasn't Corypheus blue in DA2, I mean like the stuff that sticks to his body?

And in DAI he's red, maybe he got corrupted by red lyrium or something too

I hope this isn't mentioned in game, I can remember haha

Also, when he uses the orb...

Orb2.PNG

Yes, I'd noticed it turned red as well, and I suggested it may be a good thing that Solas didn't get his orb back.  I believe Corypheus managed to corrupt it in the end, probably less by red lyrium and more by Corypheus's taint.  Note that the Architect was capable of controlling the Blight, to some extent--he could remove it from things, and he could speed its progress.  Corypheus may possess similar abilities, even if he is unaware of them.  And even if he isn't, the Blight is contagious, so having possession of the orb for so long could have been sufficient to corrupt it.

Alternatively, the orb still appears green beneath the red glow.  It could simply be that Corypheus's magic is red, and is covering the orb.

I honestly think the Forgotten Ones may not actually exist. They are just the remnants and memories that the Dalish ancestors had of the crueler nature of their gods. Which is why Fen'Harel is considered to be a kin to both of them. He's the only god that they are willing to remember the bad parts of.

The old gods themselves are the trapped elven gods. [In my theory.]

They existed; they had their own names, though the Dalish barely remember them.  We don't know how many of them there were, but they appear to have been separate from the Creators.  The elves hear whispers of their names in dreams.  Perhaps they are walking the Fade?

It wasn't just the flirts that were awkward, it was the way she spoke to him in general.  My Shepard was 100% committed to Liara and she talked to him like she wanted his prize then and there.

He was probably conceived as the main romance for straight women in ME2, but more female Shepards tended to romance Liara, Garrus, or Thane.  I doubt they ever expected Garrus to be as popular as he was!  This is especially true since Thane was basically designed and written as a character intended to appeal to straight women... But yet, while many women did like him, he wasn't as popular as expected, I think.

I'll bet my beard that if he did, every last one of you would love every second of it :P

I strongly disagree.  I would not want a scene like Jacob's with any character, not even Jacob.  If he started to objectify my Lavellan, I'd kick Solas's puppy behind out of Skyhold, or I'd certainly try to.

The thing that makes me wonder in particular, is how all those old Tevinter constellations seem to match up Old Gods and specific Creators...like, a lot.  But I'm still leaning towards the Old Gods being the Forgotten Ones because I think they probably existed as an actual rival group, and the idea of the Forgotten Ones being locked away in the abyss sounds a lot like the Archdemons.  But it does feel like it could be either way.

I believe it's possible that the Tevinters either adopted the Creators, or that the Old Gods are the Forgotten Ones.  One day, maybe we'll know.  I guess it depends how many games they plan to release.

LOL

Oh god, that Vega video. Shepard getting a gay subordinate drunk enough that she can crawl onto him and... Right, I didn't realize Shepard could be any creepier than she was in ME2 with Jacob, but that takes the priiiize.

Now I can't even play. I just passed that point in the game and every time I click on the Hierophant card or switch to Solas to activate a spell, I can't do anything but wibble.

Vega jokingly flirts with Cortez, he also flirts with a female Shepard.  He apparently has a relationship with an asari in that anime video that was released (I never watched it).  He could be bisexual, but I think he's meant to be straight.

That doesn't make it any more right that she plies him with alcohol to get him into bed.  It's beyond creepy, and it's no more or less wrong regardless whether he's straight or gay or bi or asexual or anything.  It's date rape, whatever his orientation.

The scene was added because a lot of women lamented their lack of romance options and wondered why Vega, who was very flirty with them, wasn't an option.  So, the writers of the Citadel DLC decided, apparently, to give them what they wanted, but didn't think it through all that well so... an unromanced female Shepard who throws a wild party can end up date raping Vega.

Some things I would like to add to your theory. First, I think the soul of the old god killed by an grey warden is not released, but actually destroyed and forever lost. As for the old gods, I believe they are the forgotten ones, elven gods were known to be able to shapeshift into dragons after all. The tale said how Solas trapped the forgotten ones in the abyss (deep roads?) while trapping the creators into the heavens (I believe it means the fade). Now here it comes the interesting part. I believe the elves also created the darkspawn taint. It was the taint that caused the fall of Arlathan, and then Solas used the Anchor to seal away Arlathan in the fade, were it became the black city, and perhaps the elven gods were trapped in there as well. That picture you showed of elves with red aura? They could also have been ghouls. When you fight Corypheus for the last time, he lifts the land into the skies with the anchor. Maybe that's how Solas did it, he lifted Arlathan away and sent it into the fade through an rift.

I don't know if Arlathan = the Black City, or if there's some other city.  But I do believe that the Black City was originally golden, that the Blight turned it black over time because the Blight was already within the city... I believe it was sealed away because it contained the Blight.

I also agree that the Blight already existed prior to the Tevinter Imperium; it wasn't created when it was brought back by the magisters.  It may have been contained until then, but it already existed--Weekes' interview also told us that, though of course he also made it clear that this was just Corypheus's view of the story and may not entirely be true.  I think Corypheus wasn't lying, though--the Black City was empty except for the Blight, and possibly darkspawn (blighted former residents).

Considering one of the Forgotten Ones was the god of pestilence/disease, it very well could have been that the Forgotten Ones created the Blight.  Andruil sought it out because it gave her a good fight, but, then she made Blight Armor, which as Sashimi pointed out, and as I had already mentioned pages and pages ago, sounds a whole lot like Samson's red lyrium armor.

Now, if the theory that the Black City represents an actual place deep within the Deep Roads, it is also entirely possible that red lyrium exists down there, too.  We do know that it was unheard of in the recent past, and that it was only found in that primeval thaig.  It could be that the Black City had been sunk deep within the earth in a similar fashion to Arlathan, because it contained red lyrium.

The Red Lyrium Templars ultimately corrupt into what appear to be darkspawn (old-school DA:O type) except with red lyrium spikes.

It is entirely possible that Andruil's corruption was spreading or threatening to spread, and this is why Solas sealed away the Old Gods.  However, the Veil may have been brought into being before then, whether by him or by someone else, as a defense system.

There's just way too much we don't know...

Also, if Weekes was afraid the actual answer would make us grumpy about the romance... I wonder if even any resolution we get won't be so good, or, I wonder if the answer wasn't something like, "love couldn't ever be enough for Solas."  What would his answer have been if he were honest?

I have to say, I know a lot of people are still upset over the ending.  I was really, really sad for my Lavellan but, ultimately, it was just sadness for her, not myself, so I'm okay now.  I'd prefer a happy ending if possible, or at least one that isn't soul-crushingly sad--especially true since it's mostly male LIs who cheat, lie, die, or run away and I'd like for a few more to end WELL, for crying out loud--but without knowing what the honest answer was...  I can still hope that Lavellan can choose to run off with Solas, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will end well or happily, only that she'd be together with him even if they were seen as villains.  It may be the best we can hope for.

I think it's funny that the cave is the only spot where most of your companions disapprove of you disturbing nugs, or any non-hostile critter. You should at least get some disapproval from the Dalish if you murder Halla  around them.

The Javik scene is disturbing to me, and probably to others, because you have no say in whether or not it happens.  Shepard has to be celibate to get that scene, so you already pretty obviously decided you didn't want anyone in your Shepard's bed.  You have a wild party, and wake up and there's Javik.

On the one hand, they were probably both too drunk to consent.  On the other... it's just about as problematic as the Vega date rape.  In no small part this is because the player lacks agency to decide whether or not his or her Shepard will hook up with Javik.  So no, to a lot of us it isn't funny at all.  Would have been more okay with it if Javik and Shepard had been able to express some interest in one another beforehand, optionally, before that scene happened--and if they didn't, it wouldn't happen.

Mine's bugged to where if you return there (I did for farming the rare ores before I knew how to duplicate things) they'd automatically give you disapproval as if you killed one.

If you're an elf, you shouldn't be killing halla, unless your elf doesn't jive with Dalish beliefs at all.  As I pointed out the other night, the halla are seen not as livestock or pets by the Dalish, but as friends and kin.  And they might be right, because I have a suspicion Ghilan'ain created them using elven slaves.

Other than that though... so many animals got caught in the AOE crossfire, I finally gave up trying to save them.  I did avoid killing things I didn't have to, for the most part, though.  Sometimes, you need snoufleur skin, though.

The Dalish still have hunters and considering they're nomadic they probably eat more meat than city folk who have markets they can by veggies and fruits from. I do think it's weird for a Dalish Inquisitor to kill halls though. I refuse!

I finally finished my human mage playthrough. I was sad to finish because I spent over 100 hours with her, but really excited to spend another 100 with Shiral, my elf. I am so so so excited to get tbis playthrough going with her. Even knowing what comes.

My Lavellan (and Trevelyan) didn't want to kill the halla, but her party certainly seemed to enjoy randomly attacking them.  My Trevelyan made a halla leather jacket from all the times her party "accidentally" decided to kill one.

Your elf is named almost the same as mine.  Mine is Uth'shiral, Eternal Journey.  Yours is Journey.  Your elf is a band!

Edited to add:  My second is Numinera, which effectively translates to "Tear-Jerker."  ... Yeah.

And I think I may make a third, and name her Harellan.  Hee hee.  (She'll be the type who claims that yes, she's the Herald of Andraste, not because it's true or she believes in the Chantry, but because it might just save her skin.)

If anyone gets to wear a Halla leather anything, it ought to be Sera. She seems to lack the proper respect for elf-Halla-kin and would probably enjoy strutting around in it since Halla=sacred to Dalish.

Bah, screw those rams, lol. I already got a taste for their blood after Hinterland's stupid side mission.

That and goat meat is delicious. Halla venison probably is too... but nah, I don't eat fairytale critters. Probably some magic hoodoo in there that makes your balls shrink or something. Karma.
