I don't think so...I think part of the point was that he isn't a villain. Patrick said he had trouble writing villains and gave an example of an actual villain he wrote. Solas is meant to be more complicated than that, someone who makes bad decisions for a cause he believes is moral. Yes I went and used that line again. Bottom line, I don't think Patrick sees Solas as a villain.

 

And I took that part where he says that he doesn't write villains well as a big OOPS because of all the love Solas is getting.  I don't think Mr. Weekes sees Solas as a villain, but he's not the only one writing the Dragon Age story.

But I save her for a human. I couldn't imagine making an elf for her. I'm six foot four, so picturing me being with a woman taller than me is kind of jarring. It'd just be more engaging as a male elf if I got a hot dalish bebe to journey with.

When or if I spin a male Trevelyan I'll give him to Dorian ideally I'll do everyone's romance but we'll see. I have Cullen next on my list and am still playing my Iron Bull romance play through!

What are they going to look like? A harsher Lavellan might be interesting to see how Solas reacts. How harsh is harsher? Murder innocent people for the greater good or choose angry answers and hate shems?

 

Well, I call her "White Wolf" because that's what Numinera is themed after.  Instead of using the white hair, though, I went with the palest blond hair available in-game.  White looked a bit too harsh for her.  Originally she was going to be named Fenrir, for the white wolf constellation mentioned in the astrariums, but I decided against it because it'd be a bit too much, given she's going to romance the Dread Wolf.  (Then again she could totally be part of his wolf pack.)

I don't think you can accidentally write a sympathetic character. Or accidentally write a sympathetic character and then get the rest of the writers to also completely overlook that fact. These are people who make a living crafting characters.

 

That doesn't mean Solas might not have a villain role. But after that interview, I think its safe to say that he was never intended to be hated. Any fondness or sorrow is intentional.

Post-final battle if you venture to the area near the pub in Val Royeaux, you can overhear an elven servant talking to his master. The latter ask the servant about him screaming during the night. Here's a quote:

- I can't help it, sire. A woman comes to me in my dreams, and she wispers things.

- You must not say that, not in public! People will think you'll be taken by a demon!

- She's not a demon, sire, she says her name is Mythal.

I wanted to share a picture of my new Lavellan with you all.  Her name is Atisha..which means peace.  My Lavellan before her had the same name but she had red hair.  I like the pale blond hair better.  I imagine her being a white wolf and Solas being a black wolf. Much like what Brass_Buckles was saying about her character.

It almost sounds like what Sandel told Hawke in one of his talks about having a woman stand over him/speak to him when he was sleeping...so I think there is a connection there.

It's strange. IRL, I am labeled as a pessimist by many but when I come here, I feel like such a rare optimistic breed (unicorn!). I somehow forgot to purchase my tickets to the Solavellan is Doomed Club.

 

I took the opposite route of you, it seems. I'm naturally an optimist, but today threw me into the pits of despair.

 

Granted, I blame a lot of that on some real life feels and today, of all days, is harder than most due to a certain anniversary of a dearly beloved no longer here... who, ironically enough, decided there was no other way for things to end but abruptly and without anyone else having a choice in the matter.  Although, that end was far, far more permanent than a mere relationship break-up, sadly.

 

But despite all that baggage, I still usually remain nauseatingly optimistic in real life. So, sort of weird the interview today threw me off Team Optimism... and, not so much onto Team Pessimism, but more Team I-Don't-Know-What's-Happening-But-I'm-Scared-Please-Make-The-Hurting-Stop.
