I have the perfect plan to get Solas to fess up. Lavellan will tie him to a tree. Then put some wine, cheese, and frilly cakes in front of him but out of reach. Maawhahahah.

 

Nevermind me. I'll just walk out now with my silly thoughts.

He seems more like the type of guy who would go crazy if you tied him up, then put a series of books in front of him with no sort of order at all, not alphabetical or anything. And they weren't perfectly aligned. Hell, one of them even consists of nothing but pictures, lol.

 

THAT would make him confess.

So I've been thinking about the interview all day since I listened to it in the early morning, and I was listening to Hallelujah for the past half hour, and I was reading one of the many posts on Tumblr about everything and I had been pretty much been crying for the past hour, but now I'm practically bawling. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing in the end. Not how I pictured spending my New Years, lol. I've never been so affected by a fictional character in all my years of gaming. I'm happy but it hurts a lot as well, as silly as that may sound.

 

Wanted to say thanks to the Solas thread for being well...the Solas thread. I've spent my days on this thread since early July and had been following Solas long before I decided to make this account and join the peeps on here, and this thread has always been nothing but sweet and welcoming. Sadly can't keep up with it + everything else but I try to lurk at least once a day for a few pages or so. Here's to another year!

Well considering he sacrificed himself for my mage...when I intended to have her sacrifice herself...well I don't think I could go through any death of his ever again. This accident occurred during my second or third PT and it was the first time I romanced Alistair...so I had no idea that he sacrificed himself.

Similar note but on the Loghain side of things... a long time ago, in my DAO days, I recruited Loghain (with Alistair as king because I'm not entirely awful). I made one save file with Old God Baby and one save file without for Science™. 

 

So, one day, my Dad's over and I want to show him the epic-cool Archdemon battle with my character ultimately killing it. I load up and away I go.

 

Did not realize I loaded the No-Old-God-Baby file.

 

So, there we are, battling the Archdemon, all going according to plan. And then Loghain interrupts with some rubbish about redemption and I need to lead the Wardens now and he should be the one to die because of all his horrible mistakes, etc. And I'm entirely confused. And then cue cutscene of Loghain sacrificing himself against the Archdemon... up pops my trophy achievement for the Redemption ending that I'd never gotten before because I'd never done it before... all while I'm staring at my screen in shock because Loghain just STOLE ALL MY GODDAMN THUNDER IN FRONT OF MY DAD. LIKE, WHAT THE HELL, DUDE???

 

It's hilarious looking back at it now.

I previously thought he was referring to Lavellan as well when he says "Someone I once cared for". And found it strange that he would say 'used to' care for. But it seems he is referring to Cole. I saw a video with a human male inquisitor where Solas relays the same message to Cole. Unless this is one of the many glitches in this game... Or he says that about any inquisitor who he considers a friend?

 

Yeah I agree that he was talking about Cole there. But just the fact that he said something like that at all...it made me feel (at the time) like he had taken his own advice and hardened his heart. Which made me feel very sad and worried. BUT, I believe that maybe isn't the case after the interview. I was just trying to say that the reason I felt better after the interview was because I think it made it clear that his heart is not hardened...at least not for Lavellan. I have to keep reminding myself that at least he didn't try to make her forget him the way he did to Cole. I mean, it's not clear that he could do that to her in the first place...but man, I just have to believe that if he could, he wouldn't. I'm just not really sold on why he did it to Cole.

Lol, it is a perfectly okay thing to admit! I know I would practically blow up if I forced to just stare at something like that for an hour...a day...I think I would end mimicking a raccoon who bit off its leg in order to escape a trap. I don't believe I would get the same desired effect considering I would be tied up to a tree, but yeah I would snap.

I think he did it to Cole because Cole knew who/what he was and could help Lavellan find him.

Lol, my first time playing DAO I romanced Alistair, didn't make him king and didn't to the Dark Ritual. I sure as hell got the surprise of my life when I brought him up to face the Archdemon. That was fun times.

So considering I joined up on the Solas thread a bit late...what are these teams I keep seeing? "Team Optimism, "Team Pessimistic", and "Team Moving On"? Surely there is a "Team Realist"? If not that should totally be amended, lol!

Bioware needs to pay their animators more. The animators for DA:I did a stellar job. There were so many times where the animations were so spot on that it actually took me out of the moment, which in this case wasn't a bad thing. I just had to take a second to get over my awe before I got back to the game. lol

Despite my naturally pessimistic nature I am a card carrying member of Team Optimism!  We're Team Optimism because we are holding on to hope for a happy resolution of some sort for the Solas romance.
