Happy new year from Florida, ya'll. :3
Due to family being in town, I haven't had a chance to check this thread much or listen to the podcast. I still can't do the latter due to sleeping relatives sprawled about, and another busy day tomorrow, but I caught some quotes a few ... or 50 something... pages back about the romance part and I dunno what to think now. While I've never been an official passenger of the Team Optimism Train, I did like to look out the window at it from the Team Expect-The-Worst Express. Is it possible to still do so?
When I read that the Solas romance was added to make Solas sadder, my mind immediately added "only" to that statement. That it was only added for that purpose. And the last few lines I read, about how he knows it broke our hearts? It had a sense of finality to it that I don't like one bit. However, both of these are instances of me adding tone to text. What say you, Team Optimism? How can you still believe that your train is the one that won't jump the track when we come to the big switch?
At least the parts about him being so close to breaking for Lavellan are reassuring for my headcannon ending where Tiger Festival (lol, again) won't rest until she's found him. No waiting for him to return. Prey waits. She is the huntress, and she will find her wolf - even if it never happens in the game.
I never doubted that Solas fell hard for her, though. He was fantastic. My god, his kisses alone... They are one of the reasons this song makes me think of him. Or, more accurately, he makes me think of this song:
(Sorry, it's Vevo. Ugh.)
Anyway it's nice to get confirmation of it. I just wish it didn't also sound like a consolation for the road ahead.
