Solas's story in DAI did have a sad ending. If it makes you feel better, Patrick Weekes and David Gaider have both said that they aren't allowed to talk about anything related to the future of DA. So even if there was a possibility of a happy ending, he wouldn't have been able to say anything that indicates that. That could mean nothing but I wouldn't take his calling Solas's story sad confirmation that it will end badly just yet.

 

They wouldn't be able to say there would be a happy ending, but they could point out that the story wasn't over and they didn't want to say anything that would suggest how it would end. They could have just said sad to trick us, so we get a happy surprise at the end, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up at this point... I reeeeally hope you're right!

Aww don't go to pessimism just yet. As others have pointed out he really only could say what has already happened. We already know that what already happened is really sad. There is still hope. *gives cookies*

I'm not saying tragedy isn't a possible ending and if keeping your hopes down is the best way to handle that if it happens, that's totally understandable. I don't think there was anything in the interview we can take as confirmation of how Solas's story will play out though. So if you want to be hopeful about it, there's no reason not to be.

If it's like any otome game with a romancable god, he's probably not going to visit you. You  have to freaking climb up the mountain to visit him, give him a gift offering, and then sometimes, he'll like you enough to have sex with you again after 5 years.

Yeah, nothing is confirmed yet. I think I've just been burnt by all my Dragon Age and Mass Effect games having sad endings, and all the other romances I've played having bad endings. I'm still going to keep hoping for a happy one, it just doesn't seem like the most likely option. Which will make it all the better if we actually do manage to get one!

 

I think the best way to get one, is to keep posting/tweeting/fangirling to let the devs know how important this is to us!  After all, the Cullen's got their romance added, and I think that was at least in part because of how the fandom reacted to him!

Just listening to the interview now, after I already saw the stuff about telling her the truth on tumblr yesterday. It's... ugh. So tragic. I don't know yet if the whole thing makes me more optimistic or pessimistic. *sighs*

Oh, sorry. It's not deluxe edition but it is a pre-order bonus edition. Nothing I can do about that.

I could try uploading my save right before the final romance scene. I don't have the deluxe edition. I did add some DLC at one point, but I don't think I've touched the save file since then, so it might be OK...
