I'm still on the train to the Black City guys. Also still on the Team Optimism and Team Blanket Fort trains. WHERE DID I GET ALL THESE TICKETS!?
But still, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm hoping that all the answers lie at the Black City...whether the elvhen gods are trapped there or whether the Forbidden Ones are there or if it's just full of demon nugs. I'd love for a DLC to take us there (preferably with Solas, or finding him along the way, or meeting him there for the big confrontation WHATEVER JUST SOLAS)....since the Inquisitor can enter the Fade physically whenever he/she wants by using the anchor, all I can think is that makes it super relevant, since no one since Coprophages (hahahaha biology nerds are you with me?) had ever been able to enter the Fade physically. So with the Anchor, all I can think is that the Inquisitor will now be the one to find out what is truly going on with the Black City. And I think it would be awesometastic.
As a writer, I can kind of speak to why I think my Team Optimism train won't derail. Writers of all kinds want to get their readers to feel things. If they can get their readers to fall in love with characters (romantic or non-romantic love, both work) or even just concepts and ideas (I am a non-fiction writer and my concepts are just as precious to me as characters are to fiction writers) then it's like, the best cherry on the top of their dream sundae. I can imagine that Weekes feels bad that he made people sad, but he probably feels really great that he was able to do it. There's nothing worse than attempting to write for emotion, and then see that emotion get entirely missed. It's like a comedian writing stand-up; when they say a joke and they get laughs it's like orgasm, but when they say a joke and they get silence it feels like you're the scum of the earth. So I believe that Weekes and probably all the writers are feeling super awesome that their audience has SO MANY FEEELS. There is no logical reason to move forward and ignore the feels in future content...the logical thing to do is to continue providing feels for the audience as much as possible because yes, THAT is what makes people continue to purchase games, or books, or movies or whatever else us humans get so invested in. It's easy...no feels/closure/love begets zero profit. This isn't to say that there aren't a bunch of factors that could derail the most logical or profitable route, but I do think the writers will always try to fight for more story for the characters they are responsible for. And that's a very optimistic thing!
