I think this is a cool theory...but I'm not sure about Sera being Andruil. I feel like that might be just a little too convenient. Solas shows little sign of recognizing her, when arguably he'd be one of the gods to know her the most.

It is an interesting speculation, but Andruil was one bloodthirsty mad ******, which hunted elves as some creepy pastime, and as much as I don't like Sera, I don't think they are merged.

I doubt she is Andruil, but it'd be interesting if she were involved with her in some way. Perhaps there were "bloodlines" of elves and certain bloodlines were devoted to certain gods. Maybe some were gifted with specific types of powers. Who knows? I think it'd be cool/heartbreaking for Sera's character if she realized there was some irrefutable evidence that being elven meant she was different (other than having pointy ears).

Plus I've been struggling with the idea of post-ending DLC because I feel like other than Solas, the companions don't have anywhere else to go. We resolve their major problems in Inquisition. Being tied to Andruil in some way would definitely be a development hook for the least elfy-elf.

Update on my Solas poem.  Not sure what draft it is now, but it will be part of my short post-game fic.

What you didn’t say

Apostate, dreamer from another shore,
Seer and sage, riven veil remorse of yore.

With Dreamer’s eye you see
Paths of eldritch mystery.
Tales of battles lost and won
‘Neath the rays of younger sun.

No simple wanderer, you
Prince and potentate also true.
Timeworn steps from other day
In capricious court of subtle play.

Broken Dread Wolf sorrow bound
In ancient dreams spirits found.
Clarity in fade moored friends,
No mortal soul where truth depends.

Dread Wolf, ancient trickster foe,
Sealed warring Gods, a savior so.
Through endless ages, Elvhen sleep,
Wake for blighted harvest reap.

Weakened, withered, power lost,
Key to waken, at what cost?
Allies sought to fault amend,
Ignorant mortals, truth must bend.

Dancing steps, subtle power bring,
Misguided duty on griffon wing.
Mountains, deserts, cloud torn sky,
Companions to friends as time slips by.

At Mythal’s altar loss doth ache,
Verity held lest eld purpose break.
Broken temple, Gods have warred,
Sorrowing, resolute Wolf, broken orb.

The truth doth lie in cunning word,
What you didn’t say, heart should’ve heard.

That's an interesting theory. I would probably be more on board with that than her being a host for Andruil. Like the descendant of a high priestess or something.

Edit: orr. Could be a descendant of Andruil herself, come to think of it. Nothing to suggest the elven gods can't have kids. [See: Mythal.]

It's an interesting theory but I in no shape think Sera has anything to do with Andruil or the elven gods. A lot of the evidence is just a stretch. Sometimes if something looks like a duck, acts like a duck, and sounds like a duck,..it's just a duck. xD No subliminal messages, hidden meanings, or anything. However, I think it's fun to speculate and it's cool fans are so thoughtful!

And I'm trying to get my friend/roommate to do some Solas art!. She is crazy good at art stuff, and she is a big fan of Dragon Age. I'll see if I can convince her.

It will just be me and Sera. No one else can know my dark secret.

But this is great. I missed out on some of her scenes after getting into an argument with her. Might as well try and see if I can get her approval a bit higher with it.

I would had died if Solas' approval went down with each kill...that would had probably broken me! I brought Cole, Solas, and Sera for that hunt and it was...it was disturbing.

I...I never disliked Sera before reading the last few posts...

I still like her! I just...am rather hesitant to bring my Hart around her or have her ride it...

I think they left some hints in the epilogue.  Morrigan mentioned possible conflict in the future for the Inquisition.  I could see DLC where we have to deal with a rebellion, or someone that's trying to have the Inquisition over thrown.

has anyone read this, btw? so interesting.

really love the DA lore and all of the room it provides for speculation. our theories may not turn out to be correct in the end, but in the meantime, few can be totally and irrevocably refuted.

i think i've become a pretty big fan of this whole elf/blight/lyrium theory. can't imagine how grand everything is in reality.

it is extremely unlikely, perhaps impossible, but i'd love a flashback into ancient arlathan. i'd love to see the pantheon interact and see how it was before. i don't think we'll ever get that though, since a big thing about all this is how it's been forgotten in text and we can only infer.

That's an interesting theory. I can clearly see the hints. It would be cool if turns out, it was Andruil who brought the darkspawn taint to our world, as the codex says

She began stalking The Forgotten Ones, wicked things that thrive in the abyss. Yet even a god should not linger there, and each time she entered the Void, Andruil suffered longer and longer periods of madness after returning"

This sounds like the effects of the taint on a person, who become ghouls and are driven insane by it.

Just how much bad luck our Inquisitor have to combine in his/her party two elven gods?

My inquisitor's reaction will be something along these lines.

From the ending slides:

"The Inquisitor is a symbol to many, a leader of the changing world order. To others, she has become a target. They linger in shadows, waiting for their day to come. When it does, the Inquisition will stand ready."

Fine, what about the part about a soul, that cannot be forced upon the unwillng? Sera would have to be willing to accept Andruil's wisp.

Sorry, must return to our Solas-centered little world...

I almost wonder if perhaps Fen'Harel might have goaded Andruil into originally going into the void to hunt. It might explain why he feels all of this is personally his fault, even beyond having caused the fall of the empire.

Final Big Bad is the Sing-quisition?

The final game will be a musical.  You heard it here first!

That makes any amount of liking I had for Sera plummet to almost nothing.

Yeah, me too.  It's one thing to hate being too "elfy," but I continue to have a theory that the halla are basically elf slaves who got turned into animals.  They can be communicated with in DA:O, and that's more than could be done even with the griffons (which were also very smart animals).

Any human/dwarf/qunari characters wouldn't know/understand, but I'd think unless you were playing a very anti-Dalish Dalish, you'd want to avoid hurting the halla... but that's just me.

This is awful but...does this actually truly work? Because I could use some approval with her and...

[makerforgiveme.]

If you're an elf and want to roleplay being a proper Dalish, well... I guess it's up to you what you do, but it's not very in character unless your elf is less up on being Dalish I guess?

YEP IT WORKS! I felt horrible killing them...but I was a low level and I needed some leather...I totally discovered the Sera thing on accident! It actually hints about his dislike/hate for Halla in her book on that barrel.

I would had died if Solas' approval went down with each kill...that would had probably broken me! I brought Cole, Solas, and Sera for that hunt and it was...it was disturbing.

Only time I kill halla as an elf is when it's by accident.  Again, I have a theory that they were made from elven slaves... so I just can't.  Plus, there's that whole thing with how the Dalish treat them as people, as brothers and sisters and friends... Murdering people is generally accepted as bad behavior, yes?

That's a good point. Andruil seems like the type to want to raise this perfect huntress to continue her legacy. Flemeth/Mythal has Morrigan directly, but it wouldn't be a stretch to say that certain bloodlines of the gods wouldn't persist if careful.

The Dalish themselves practice the idea that they are the most "pure-blooded" of the descendants from the Arlathan elves. It could be another one of those things that has a nugget of truth in it. They ARE mostly descended...from the gods themselves. Either through slave baby impregnation, or from nobles with their patron god's favor.

That might be why Kieran says Lavellan's blood is old. It's old because it dates waaay back to whichever god she gets her genes from, which is a good indicator of why she is a focused/intense dreamer and how she can handle this magic stuff (if a non-mage) of closing rifts without training.

ICly, my girl would never hurt a halla. But since I can't ask Sera to have a girls night with me, I shall unfortunately have to bend to gaming mechanics and farm her reputation by murdering halla. :[

I was fine with hunting rams. Those poor refugees needed to eat. But I feel anguished whenever I accidentally kill something. A poor fennec gets caught in my AOE spell? Waaaaaaaaaaaaah. I appreciate all of the companions that disapprove of killing the nugs by Crestwood. Sera is not one of them. Solas and Cole are.

For a fan theory on tattoo meanings, see this picture:

<edit> I'm extending my opinion that the owl tattoo is Falon'Din because it's his patron animal, the triangle forhead one after is Ghilan'nain because halla horns.

The first one, I think might be Dirthamen because the circle on the forehead is a "third eye." With the third eye, you have extra perception of things, which is true if you're the keeper of secrets. Lines around the mouth and face are binding straps to symbolize the prevention of spilling these secrets.

I think it could be really cool for her character. Right now she's sort of like, "elves are bad because everything they say is a lie". It's easy for her to reject elves because she just flat-out dismisses that they're stupid. I'd love for her to come to the conclusion that maybe it's not stupid/fake, but that she still wants to be her own person. Something doesn't have to be a lie to reject it. Basically...what Lavellan can decide if she keeps the vallaslin: that whatever was is all well and good, but things are different now. I think she'd be a really interesting contrast to Solas then as well. For people that didn't play elves especially; she'd be a different elven view but still one that actually comes across as being valid.

I think they left some hints in the epilogue.  Morrigan mentioned possible conflict in the future for the Inquisition.  I could see DLC where we have to deal with a rebellion, or someone that's trying to have the Inquisition over thrown.

I definitely see story conflicts. There are hundreds of little hooks for what the Inqusition can do. I just don't see as many companion hooks. Why would these people stick around? What am I going to talk to them about? Solas has the very obvious "what is he doing?" and "when will we find out about his identity?" hooks. The other companions are just less clear to me.

No one is completely certain, but some fans have made some good guesses. At the Dalish Supporters group, Tevinter Rose shared this rendition of vallaslin by Balicake for Breakfast:

I think the one assigned to Dirhshmirth might be Ghilan'nain and the one next to complex Sylaise might be Dirthshmirth (looks more raven-y than owl-y to me). I think the others look right, though.
