Solas no

I'm thinking you may be referring to me, if so let me clarify. Voicing and intention to not play the game is not a 'threat' to Bioware, I reeeeeaaaalllly love the game, but I am concerned that playing, and exposing myself to the angst is doing myself a bit of harm. Equally I think that if there is no conclusion, and no options for even a glimmer of hope in any of the endings, I would have to ask myself seriously if it might be better (for me) to kind of let Bioware go, not because they are not awesome, but because I personally can't cope with the angst, I'm not sure if I would ever be able to do that though... am an addict.
No, not referring to you or anyone in particular, but if it's the case that you just find bioware games to be too full of angst overall, that's totally understandable. I think I just meant people who get angry when a particular character or storyline doesn't turn out the way they prefer (regardless if it's angsty or happy or whatever).
Anyone else want to visit the ruins in the Brecilian forest now that we have all our new elfy info? I'm there now and it is so super interesting. When you walk in Zev talks about the ruins looking like they were made by humans and elves. Then when you find the Arcane Warrior's phylactery thing, there's a mention that a war may have broken out by "something that killed both the humans and elves that were here," and "elves and humans both screaming and attempting to flee from some terrible presence." It also seems like apparently the ruins were for Uthenara and worshiping of the elven gods? Ah..I wish we had more information!
Yeah. It'll be interesting to go back - once we have more of the big picture - to see how everything lines up. I also want to add - I read somewhere either in a codex or on the wiki that there were elves that were murdered in Uthenara. I don't know why but that seems the HEIGHT of awfulness to me. I wonder if that's what happened to Mythal.
I wish I had a dual monitor set up so I can both play and keep up with this thread. Lots of good discussion, but you all are distracting me from my Cullen playthrough so my next Solas one won't feel so bad. D:
I do...and it's still not entirely possible to keep up. I barely keep up and I'm drawing traditionally.....
Reading through past posts... I really don't understand how you can not have a happy ending with Alistair. I've played the game probably at least 7 times and it's always happy..well..except when I played a male warden, let Logan live, romanced Morrigan and made Alistair become king..he was pretty pissed off about that... but the other times. Me and Alistair lived happily ever after. I didn't even know he could leave you until I read you all talking about it. Even when I romanced Zev he was happy at the end of the game. I never made him marry Anora though..maybe that's why. Being his elven mistress wasn't so bad...because he wasn't married. I dunno..maybe I just played the game differently. I'm always so nice to everyone....but Logan must DIE!!!
Edit: I have a horrible migraine right now so I really hope this made sense..I tend to ramble a lot and misspell things.
Migraines are the worst! Hope you feel better soon!
I always felt a little slighted by the mistress option. I made Alistair king. I helped with his family, I saved his life, saved the world, etc. And he wasn't willing to take a stand for me? At the very least as Princess-Consort or something? The best he's going to do is accept the prejudice of the world because he's afraid of some nobles being mad that he's marrying the Hero of Ferelden? Maybe I should have let the Blight take the whole stupid kingdom. He talks about "needing an heir" but he's perfectly OK marrying someone that is in all likelihood infertile?
But the bigger issue is to get that option at all you have to "harden" him, which isn't explained anywhere in the game so it's completely possible you miss the option entirely.
Does anyone have a link or can tell me what all the Creators' relationships were with Fen'harel. I am wondering if he and June ever had a relationship as in friendship/hate/love/etc.
I don't think the relationship between June and Fen'Harel is ever mentioned. There isn't a lot of info on June or Sylaise, other than the "nice" myths of the Dalish. It's part of why I wonder if they will crop up later on. Hopefully they were friendly with Solas...
I'm just gonna stop by and throw my two cents in.You know, I understand that a kiss Solas whenever you want scene wouldn't make sense for his character. However, they could have made a let's take a walk together scene or let's read a book together on the couch. A small scene like that so that his romance doesn't feel so empty if you're doing a completionist play-through. Cass has so many scenes and she wasn't even my love interest.
There's no consensus on who killed Felassan, only a list of suspects. I don't personally think he killed him, but there's no way to know for sure.
I do wish we saw more of Briala and the eluvians in the game though. It seems almost like they dropped that plotpoint, except for a mention in her letter to Gaspard.
This is amazing.All fluffy inside

Okay first of all I just finished Masked Empire. Finally. I need to discuss Felassan. And I need a link to the Solas at Halamshiral.
Is there a concensus on Felassan working for Solas? Unlike Solas to just up and murder someone I mean I thought it was unlike him but **** if I know what he's really like. Its clear he can be ruthless. I think Solas would think it's a waste to kill Felassan. Who was my favorite character damn it.
After the book I like Celene even less than I ever did before and I like Gaspard even more. Briala I am unsure of. I wasn't impressed with her in game but maybe it'll be different after reading the book.
I just want to knowwwwwww what's going onnnnnnn. Ugh!
No consensus AFAIK. I tend to think it was Falon'Din or someone else entirely, because Solas doesn't seem all that interested in the eluvians or Briala. Plus I don't think Solas is really opposed to the elves helping themselves the way whoever killed Felassan seems to be.

It's never confirmed, but during his final scene, it seemed like Felassan was going to say that Briala reminded him of Fen'Harel, since it comes up in previous dialogue during the story.

The depth of Briala's character, the tragedy that befell her parents, her efforts to help the elves while she was serving as a bard to Celene, the betrayals she endured, and her reasons for defying Celene (in order to help empower the Orlesian elves) admittedly require a person to have read TME, since the Orlesian quest doesn't really address the nuances of the character like the novel does.

There's also the fact that Felassan says that Briala wouldn't want to meet his clan very ominously. Solas seems to be a lone operator.
I don't know. I don't want to suggest that Solas wouldn't kill someone- we know from the his quest with the mages that he absolutely can kill someone when he's angered. But we also know from the interview that he doesn't tend to take the brute solution or kick puppies. So if he did kill Felassan, he would have had to have felt very justified. He also didn't allow Felassan to even finish talking, which doesn't sound like Solas either.

Interesting! Please let us know if you find anything else. ![]()
That reminds me of the Skyhold prison area. Either there was some kind of massive explosion or something that was imprisoned there busted out in spectacular fashion. As much as Solas content is first on my wishlist of DLC, getting something that reveals more about Skyhold would be fantastic too. That little library area filled with cobwebs and that giant book drives me crazy. Want to read it!!
On topic... um... so all my pessimistic brain can come up with for a happy ending to the Solas romance is that the backwards audio whispers about 'the Calling' and 'go to him' mean Solas will use his newfound powers to open an Eluvian to Happy Elf World and summon all the current elves there Pied Piper style. Not only do we get to see his killer flute-playing abilities, but he and Lavellan live happily ever after.
The End!
What, don't judge me!
I tend to think Felassan is working with Solas because he's a total Fen'Harel fanboy but in the game Solas calls Mihris out if she lies to a non dalish Inquisitor which he would only know if he was involved somehow.
On the topic of companions and future DLC, I think it was a couple hundred pages back or so that one of us here in the Solas thread (speak up if you're here!) had found some DLC content in the game data...and it was titled "arishok". So it seems that at least the first DLC may concern the Qunari and the Arishok in some way...which kind of makes sense to me. On one hand, you either allied with the Qunari by letting the Chargers die, or you defied them and they lost a dreadnought in the process. Allying with Qunari is dangerous because their "government" (or Qun, or whatever? not sure what the ruling class is called) does have a desire to spread the Qun throughout Thedas and conquer everyone. Defying the Qunari is doubly dangerous because you know they're going to come after you for that eventually. In any case, it does seem that means Iron Bull is one of the companions who sticks around for a reason.
I still really believe that only the final DLC will be Solas-related, in order to set the world up for the next game. I firmly believe that us Solasmancers will not have to wait another three years between games to get some closure. You gotta keep people invested in the relationship in order to keep them around to spend money on more content...and waiting three years to address the issue is not the way to do that.
Edit: Oh top of the page. I just got my xbone so I haven't figured out how to take screencaps yet. Probs should get on that. In any case fellow eggheads:

I'm just gonna stop by and throw my two cents in.
I don't think a kiss scene would of been out of character. Solas had already pushed the relationship onto a very emotional level when he confessed his love for Lavellan. There were kiss scenes for the other characters before a love confession was even given. Solas and Lavellan may have had a more private relationship but a kiss scene between them wouldn't have had to been public like Blackwall's it could of been a quick peck and smile and then back to work. I think the reason the Solas romance lacked so much was less because of it fitting his character and more for time restraints and the effort and money that would of had to have been put in.
Oh I just felt that Solas wasn't someone who would agree to a kiss whenever you feel like. I think he would say "maybe later" or "not now" when he's not in the mood. I do think a walk or some other activity would be nice because romance isn't just about kissing and dancing.

My best guess is that Felassan is killed by whomever killed Mythal
Not long until we surpass the sera thread.Hey, did we miss it? 'Cause we just hit page 1800!
Pay attention folks!
Also congrats on Page 1800!
Yeah, I always found that incredibbly jarring, with allistars romance.Migraines are the worst! Hope you feel better soon!

I've seen people argue that Felassan's fascination with Fen'harel is a sign that he has been working for him all along, but personally I think it mean the exact opposite.
My interpretation is that Felassan is fascinated with the tales of Fen'harel, because Felassin desperately wants to rebel from whoever it is he himself is bound to, and the simple act of telling the stories of the Dread Wolf is as much rebellion as he is able manage until he goes too far and is killed for it.
Sashimi and her videos!
It's all good, they are fun watching!

Okay... here's what I think all the vallaslin stand for. Feel free to save this for your own reference or whatever you like.
Spoiler'd because it's big. lol
