I was curious about the Lady of the Forest as well. In that quest didn't they reference Fen'Harel heavily? I can't remember the specifics because its been forever since I played Origins but I could've bet my hat that they compared Witherfang to the Dread Wolf.  

On Topic:  What if Solas is like the lady of the forest and is part spirit and part elf, and in a DLC you have to pick whether to make him more 'human' (Solas) or more 'spirit' (Fen'Harel) like Cole's quest.

 

Off topic: Can you imagine if Solas was the lady of the forest? I'd totally give her/him that ironbark

We know next to nothing about June.  Even what very little the Dalish know (that he's a god of crafts) is believed to be incorrect, and a cultural reassignment since whatever he originally represented is no longer known or understood.  I suspect he is either involved with the eluvians, or just magical technology in general.  Engineering, architecture, things like that which aren't relevant in Dalish life but would have been important to an empire.

So the most interesting things we know about June are that he was apparently brother to both Sylaise and Andruil, the god of "craft", and that he created himself. I think he may actually be the god of craft, but perhaps - like you pointed out - not the types of crafts that the Dalish are familiar with today. I wonder if he's the other spirit that Solas has seen make themselves "human".

Thanx for the evil migraine be gone wishes! I just ordered all 5 Dragon Age books from Amazon to cheer myself up. Sorry, this is a post for the last page's conversation, and darn it I will always be playing catch up with this thread. Anyway, if tea makes it difficult for Solas to enter the Fade maybe alcohol makes it easier for him. Just, have the image of Solas sleeping contently on that couch of his. An arm hangs over the side, fingers dangling above a flask.

Hahaha, you know, that's true. Though I can't see Solas being a frequent drinker. He's too wary for that.

 

The interesting thing is that being in the Fade sort of works like alcohol on him. It lowers his inhibitions. That's why both the Fade kiss scene and the ball scene have him being noticeably less closed-off. Compare that to the balcony kiss where he's cagey and weird even while trying to express himself.

I didn't actually hear anything related to Fen'Harel. I thought for certain I'd heard people mention it, but then in the quest they've always referred to Witherfang as "a great wolf", not as anything related to Fen'Harel. There's the Fen'Harel statue, but I don't know if I'm missing something or if there's nothing else referencing him.

 

EDIT: Lanaya mentions Fen'Harel in her final prayer. She says (paraphrasing): "though he will come for us in the end, today he turned a blind eye and for that we are grateful"

 

Another interesting thing. When you talk to Zathrian's apprentice she mentions that the blood of the Keeper's is ancient and stretches back to the days of Arlathan. She also mentions having to "compete against other candidates for first, to be better than them in everything simply because I was not of the old blood." So a) I seriously doubt what Viv says about leaving mages to die is widely practiced if they have enough around to compete for First, and more references to the "old blood" of elves!

Oh I just felt that Solas wasn't someone who would agree to a kiss whenever you feel like. I think he would say "maybe later" or "not now" when he's not in the mood. I do think a walk or some other activity would be nice because romance isn't just about kissing and dancing.

there is no way Solas would be able to resist my Lavellan if she requested a kiss. Not that the kiss scenes seem so much as a kiss request as they do a hanging out one. I mean to me, during the kiss scenes I've seen, it seems like the Inquisitor is requesting their LI's time and it ends with a kiss.

It kills me every time artists decide to go with those eyebrows. Those very sad, but very restraint eyebrows. Poor Solas.

Your idea is better, but one of the things I wondered about was whether he turned himself into a golem, or something like it.  Or maybe something like a fantasy version of a cyborg, but I wasn't ready to jump that far.  (I'm surprised there were no Varterrals in such an elven lore heavy game... But Varterrals were associated with Dirthamen, so maybe not one of those.)  That feels like it might be a little too dwarfy, but who knows.

You can mention when these come up that your clan didn't practice abandonment.  The thing I found weird about that was that the previous games made it sound like mages were being born less often among the Dalish, so they were stretched thin for Firsts and Keepers.  Which was the reason for trading mage children to other clans that lacked them.  Even Clan Virnehn, which is like the quintessential jerk Dalish clan, that didn't want to take in City Elves (which was unlike previous clans we'd seen) seemed to think Briala would have been more worthy to join them if she were a mage.

Merrill explicitly mentions that mages are being born less often among the clans, so the dialogue from Minaeve, Vivienne, and the merc Dalish is quite strange, since it simply doesn't make sense with what was previously established, particularly when you consider that Zathrian's clan had more than three mages at one time and Ariane's clan welcomed a mage into their midst. Even Merrill's codex entry reads: "As each generation passes, magic becomes more rare among the Dalish. As the gift dies out, talented children are moved between clans so that every Keeper has a successor, and no clan is in danger of being left without guidance."
