This is what I think also. I kind of imagine the statement he made when he broke our collective hearts were sort of a twisted confession and because he never told us the truth about himself, we couldn't know. If our eyes were a mirror, then his words were from our lips in his mind: "And I am sorry. I have distracted you from your duties." You (Lavellan) have distracted me from my duty. It can't happen again. "It will never happen again." tumblr_inline_mtawtw0iBt1rl7hiv.gif Just another reason why I think I've lost all hope of joining Team Optimism now.  But, I really, really wish I could. :C

I am trying to stick to Team Optimism even though sometimes it's not easy :P at this point, we don't know what's coming, and all we have is fan speculation. No reason to feel doomed just yet.

We can't give up hope yet!

Actually after the interview I kind of believed there will be a happy end.

With such strong love between Solas and Lavellan...Nothing is impossible! They deserve a happy ending!

Waving Optimism flag

Never give up!

LOL, not sure if I belong on Team Optimism or Team Pessimism. I think I'll make Team Have Faith in the Writers. If they break our hearts completely or give us a happy ending I'm sure it will make good story sense and I will be satisfied. The writing team has done a great job of foreshadowing since DAO so I'm sure the lore will support whatever we get in the end, even if we don't see it coming until it hits us over the head (looks at Flemythal - I should have guessed).

And, if you don't like the resolution, there is always head canon and fan fiction.

I still suspect, Wolf Hunt DLC or no, that the Inquisitor's story isn't finished and that we will see Quizzy and Solas back in DA4 and that is where we will get our resolution.

I'm just really surprised to see so many people willing to wait years...like at least 2 or 3...before getting any sort of closure. Sorry not sorry, there is no way I'd be okay with that. This game ended with such a major cliffhanger and a lack of any kind of closure with Solas...just no. Life is short man, in 3 years I'll be in my 30s and that is craaazy. I'll start setting things on fire if we dont get some closure of some kind before then.

Oh dear, I haven't been to the thread for a day and you created a entire day worth of reading @_@

Regardless - I'm not sure this was said before, but bear with me...

Lots of pages back Sashimi posted her theory about the old gods souls being keys to the eluvians (I watched both parts).

This makes me want to read all of the codexes again :|

Well..., I'm in my 40's, a few years is no big deal if they deliver an awesome story.  I waited 7 years from the first concept art of DAO until I could play the game so 3 or 4 years is pretty minor.  I'm hoping for a Wolf Hunt DLC, but it will probably only raise more questions.  I've waited longer for books in series I enjoy (looks at George R.R. Martin).

Giving a resolution to Solas' story and to his relationship with Lavellan are two different things, the way I see it. The former may or may not be left hanging until DA4. Letting the latter hanging until then would be bad storytelling, and since BW writers are in no way bad writers... :P

We aren't alone.  There are a number of Solassians who are 40 and up.  Here's to squeeing (and crying) at Bioware romances for decades!

So the most interesting things we know about June are that he was apparently brother to both Sylaise and Andruil, the god of "craft", and that he created himself. I think he may actually be the god of craft, but perhaps - like you pointed out - not the types of crafts that the Dalish are familiar with today. I wonder if he's the other spirit that Solas has seen make themselves "human".

Or maybe June really is the Maker...  *cue Twilight Zone music*

But no, I really think that June is somehow connected to Sandal and the dwarves, since I get the feeling that June is inspired by some of the Hephaestus myths.

I guess I get it? Nevermind I totally don't..more power to you for having that kind of crazy patience but I mean, 4 years...that is crazy long. For the states, that's your entire highschool education. That is definitely at least long enough for people to forget their excitement for something...not a very profitable move for Bioware. I see what you mean with books...but books are different. You didn't create your own character and guide them through the story yourself...games just make you more invested in the outcome that way. But, you know, I might just be crazy? It's very possible. Yea verily.

This one here is a time travel to the past fic.  It is amazing.  That first chapter was just gut wrenching how good it was and the perceived betrayal. I highly recommend it.

This has nothing to do with what you said, but why would you use a spoon and a cocktail stick on Solas?  Everyone likes eggs, but that's weird stuff to bring into the bedroom, unless you're Zevran. Ben Crosshaw is weird!

He was talking about the really pointless tac cam, but I keep it in my sig because it can be about Solas and the whole NON CHOICE that we got with him.  ;)

New time poster here. I imagine this question has been asked here before, but I can't scroll through over 1,000+ pages to find the answer. My next playthrough will involve a Solas romance, but I've been wondering what the stated reason is for Solas being a female-elf only romance?

My first playthough was a female elf who romanced Cullen, but I didn't really see him being all that into elves. There *are* some questions about whether he really sees elves as his people. I'm just confused. Perhaps someone here can answer? Thanks.  :D

I'm totally with you.  It's complete and utter bullshit that not only do we have to wait that long, but we may not get it at all and even if we do, we have to pay for it again!

Preference? Or because he's an elven god, he's more comfortable with an elf. Other one was, geez my mind went blank. There's another theory about it.

What's the other theory? I just feel like there should be more to it than preference. I recall the writers said "it made super story sense." But when I did my first playthrough, I did not find the reason for it.

There is a specific scene involving elven lore that wouldn't make sense with a human. Otherwise I think he just finds elves more familiar and feels like he can be closer to them.

One part developer resources and probably another part simple preference. Solas was a last minute addition to the romance line.  There's some story tie-ins with only having it be elf only, but a more likely "in universe" reason is preference for elves. Like how Cullen is gates against Quinari, or Dorian is males only.

Welcome to the thread!

I am sure his sexuality isn't something that really needs to be discussed.  I bet it's the elf only part you're stuck on.  In light of the reveal of who he is in the stinger, I am sure that's the biggest part of why he's elf only.  I have no way to confirm this but I think the biggest reason why he comes across as not too keen on the Dalish as his people possibly has more to do with how much they've gotten wrong, and how far they've fallen from Arlathan.  But I am sure his goals tie directly into getting the elves back to where he feels they belong.  I am guessing he would feel like he's betraying them and the Elvhen by falling for anyone that isn't an elf.

Does that make sense?

Anyways enjoy the romance!  It's loaded with feels.

Some games have a longer development cycle than others, and big RPGs take longer than action games, generally speaking.  It's been, what?  Since 2010, 2011 when Skyrim came out?  And that has less plot and less characterization than Dragon Age: Inquisition, but yet we have yet to hear a peep about the next Elder Scrolls game.

I've waited five years for novels before.

I think people forget the amount of work that has to be put into a game for it to be released to the public.  Four years is not too long; I would expect the next game will be out in more like 2-3 years now that they have a grasp of the Frostbite Engine.  But it will be longer than a year, for sure.

I think the stinger is what makes the wait for more so unbearable.  I've been obsessive about BioWare games since KOTOR (Yes I know I am a heathen for not playing BG).  I've never felt like I was going to explode if I didn't get more content NOW, before.

Him being an Elven God didn't seem like a reason ?
