Too late. I'm a writer and that ending already drove me to writing a choose your own adventure fan fic of my own so I could get some flipping resolution.

I actually tried that before to place comparisons. The first video recording sources don't make good quality videos so I've given up on that idea.

Ah okay then my other suggestion is to save before every major convo or scene if possible. I managed to save before the Solas talk at Haven and the balcony scene and after I enjoyed those scenes I was able to go back and take some screenshots.

Also, if anyone messages fanfic they liked for solas to me, I'd like to read and recommend more on my site for people to quickly and easily surf it and find it. :}

I bookmarked it so I will certainly be reading it in a bit. I am still searching for the video that will make my story's theme come across all the more apparent.

Well this account just got revived!  I was pointed here after my pointed eared Inquisitor got her heart ripped out by a wolfishly dashing mage.  

 

I don't want to re-tread anything, and I have read most fan theories to this point.  My main question now is: Did Solas truly (incidentally auto correct tried to put this as truelove) end it? Or will he risk involvement with the Inquisitor now that the main threat has passed.

So I just went through Cole's personal quest again and changed my mind about the choice >.< From spirit to human!

I've decided that the debate is as much about Solas/Fen'Harel as it is about Cole. He teeters on the edge between who he wants to be, too. 

> Solas is perhaps overly invested in convincing Cole that he is a spirit? (convincing himself that he doesn't belong either?) 

> As Cole is describing his experience of 'crossing over', Solas is staring silently (having had a similar experience?) ... "All too fragile when it's efforts to help proved to be in vain".

> "He made himself human. Humans change. They get hurt, and they heal". I can't appreciate Varric's line more in this context. It seems exactly what Solas could do with. Working through layers of anguish which haven't left him for 1000+ years and healing.

So  basically "get over it, Solas/Fen'Harel" is my new answer    

The race-gating... my Trevelyan wants to bone Solas so bad. It sounded like they just ran out of time/resources when implementing the romance. I came to accept that. 
 

 

I'm still deciding on Cole's fate in this PT. XD Both sides hold decent reasons, either way. I like that you pointed out that Solas watched Cole closely the entire conversation; it's like he's thinking. I love it. 

 

Plus, I just love that Solas usually seems to be watching the Inquisitor when she isn't looking. Whenever I see it, I just get butterflies.

 

And my Trevelyan is very fond of Solas. She respects him a great deal - he came to help when other apostates fled. And, he's watched out for her and given her council. I like to think she convinces him to read books with her now and then instead of spending so much time alone.

We don't know but yes he truly ended it at the time. Perhaps he will change his mind though

Well according to Weekes he really did care about Quizzy, but he ended it because "it would be betraying himself."  When Solas left he still has a goal to complete.   For now he's gone and it's over. For Now. Future I believe in a happy ending.

I'm not sure Solas is capable of full disclosure. Even when he wants to. There's something about living with a secret for so long, where the very act of keeping it changes you. Let alone if...well you know. That time is longer than most.

 

Yet a vast majority of his life he has not hidden who he was. His time as Solas is short compared to the length of his lifespan. Based on the interview with Weekes, my take is that he really wanted to tell her, but doing so would have prevented him from achieving his Goals (whatever those may be). He would have committed to her instead of his Big Plans, and he wasn't quite willing/ready to do that.

The way I understood it, he just... how do you put it... chickened out at the last moment? He was probably afraid Lav wouldn't trust him anymore afterwards (remember his "But losing you..." line from his second romance scene?). But he couldn't continue to hide his identity and plans forever as well, so he kind of went for a preemptive strike and ended it himself instead of waiting for her to find out and (probably) break it off on her own. It was a bit of a selfish thing to do; he knows that she still loves him, and while they cannot be together atm, he didn't lose her love - which could have happened if he told her the truth.

His time as Solas, yes. I suppose this depends on how long his sleep may have been relative to his waking moments. The clans speak of him as if he has continued to show up through the ages. I also believe Solas to be inherently honest about what he does disclose...it seems his means of keeping secrets is silence, rather than to lie.

With that in mind I would say it's reasonable to assume his stories of travelling with the purpose of finding new fade memories, are fairly genuine in some way.

Either way, I did not mean the mask of Solas, I more meant whether the world itself recognized him. ;} He'd managed to pass into legend for most.
