In his interview, Patrick Weekes certainly made it sound like he wrote Solas as a tragic character, or at least a character full of sorrow, remorse, and loneliness. Romancing Solas certainly amplifies that, and it really makes DAI a sad, sad story. I'd be disappointed if they end Solas's arc with his death, especially if the inquisitor has to kill him. Honestly, I can't imagine Bioware forcing us to kill a potential love interest. They've given the option in the past, but never forced it on us.
Also, whatever plans they had for that DA2 expansion clearly evolved since they mashed it into DAI, so really I'm not too concerned with anything Gaider said about that in the past.

So here is my little summary for my story...I am rather tired at the moment so it is very basic and...well probably not too good. Yet...what the hell!
Ma Sa'lath:

He is her greatest dream and worst nightmare transforming into her new reality.The words that she makes him whisper against her lips are unlike anything he has ever said before. His touch makes her quiver in a way that she never expected was possible for someone like her. Their's is a love that was never meant to be, but it is a love that can span across time itself.

Hrmmmm. It's funny, the first time in my life I ever read fan fiction was after this game. I blame Solas. (Please don't anyone who writes fanfic feel offended by that. There's just never been a situation where I felt the need to seek it out. I appreciate the effort and time you all put into what you do.)
Oh right you wanted suggestions. I guess whatever you feel you NEED to get out. The only thing that really makes or breaks it for me is the characterization of Solas. He's gotta be so ridiculously hard to get right. The fics that I've read that I've enjoyed the most have been Crystal White by Brekalor, the beautiful story that Cheerios789 did, I apologize so much for forgetting the name. Brass_Buckle's post game story is wonderful as well. I don't know if you've seen any of those, but that's a good indication for what I've found enjoyable.

I felt so ...protective of Thane's other one true love that I felt weird doing anything with him. Plus I'd loved Garrus since the first one, and Kaiden is a *****.

Honestly I could see them giving us an uninformed situation that is morally ambiguous to challenge a decision to remain loyal to Solas. And I could also see an outcome where the Quiz must kill solas to stop him from doing something grievous as the result of some ancient and very powerful convictions he has....however they would be remiss to not give us outcomes that revolve around a romance where you trust him and stick by him - whatever the outcome may occur....
And I can see many ways where both can produce the same major story outcome, and only affect the quiz/solas' ties to one another.
