Lol, Solas is such a dick to Lavellan at first.  On my next Lavellan, I'm going to pick the "Then you should know to be wary" dialogue choice with Solas when he brings up her being Dalish in the prologue... mwahahaha.

I´ve never actually been able to get the background specific banter in the prologue, is there anyway to do that? :)

Noooo! Out of likes! The first time that ever happened to me!

Any idea when it comes back? :( Still so much to like...

I can't even imagine him insulting Quizzy. What did he say?!

I'd tell you, but I still can't like anything either. All these hugs and no one to like for it T.T

Just another way of breaking my heart.

Oh, uhm, there's a link. I'll see if I can find it. That way you don't have to make him hate you to see it...https://www.youtube....h?v=ktYnBKf-Y5M

You get the dialogue when you cross over the frozen lake right after you pick up both Varric and Solas.  Make a left over the frozen lake, and keep going until you reach a hill.  Around that hill is when one of the companions will give you the background specific dialogue.

FO:NV's model is exactly the sort of DLC model that Bioware should be following.  I love the way each peice of DLC works as a stand alone story but also how each of them fit together as a longer narrative and how they then tie into the wider NV story as a whole. Plus, Old World Blues is one of the most fun things I have ever played.

I felt bioware did DLC for the ME series far better than they ever did for the dragon age series. Frankly the Shadow Broker was the first time I could hat tip them and say they significantly altered how I felt about a relevant character...and then it just got better from there.

Dragon age DLC got to the point where I ignored it. Like, stop doing tangents. I get you can't orchestrate another game release with DLC each time, but you CAN make the dlc relevant to the last game (and characters) I just played. Little irrelevant one shots don't inspire me to trust you with all these #feels I have from your game. >.<

But he does. He gave up on the Dalish after he went to them and tried to share knowledge and they called him flat-ear and drove him off. It's not the only time he says "our people" to Lavellan. I think he's cautious with that because he really can't see that the Dalish have much in common with elvhen as he remembers them.

Though yes, he's very cagey in that talk on the mountain. Still love it. Besides talking about the orb, his other purpose in that talk is to encourage the Inquisitor to embrace the faith people are placing in her and use it to good purpose.

Hrmmm btw...

Is there a reason the "Ancient Elven Robes" look exactly like the Fenris mod of DA2?

Also if you want to hear Solas give you well thought out contra, talk to him after the prologue (and save beforehand of course) and when he talks about the fade or spirits choose option like thats scary or spirits are always demons. He says some interesting stuff.

My devout Andrastian Trevelyan normally got along with Solas, but he chewed her out when she said that blood magic was evil.  I try to pick the "let's get along!" dialogue choices with him because I want them to be friends, but for roleplaying purposes I just couldn't say "nothing's wrong with it" or "I want to learn it!".  It was interesting to see that side of Solas, though-- I myself agreed with him, but my character didn't.

Yeah but they are exactly the same?

Even the feathers and leather bindings. The gauntlets and stuff on the feet.

And I don't remember it being canon DA2 gear.

What, did they just take the mod and use it in DAI?

EDIT: Ignore me, it was canon DA2. It seems the modders found the armor in the gamefiles of DA2 as a male elf armor.

Have you read http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/1616551151 ?

It's a much simpler compilation of source material to look into with far less guessing mixed in and more of the canon possibilities. Also the RPG core book is interesting. As are many of the comics/movies/novels.

The one thing I can reply to, is I genuinely think Cory was always an asshat. And I am 80% certain that he was given the orb in a clever trickster way to kill him while using him as a tool... and it backfired because no one expected either the screw up or that he would live through the unlocking.

;}

Don't forget that at the end of Legacy Coryfish is hiding in the body of one of the wardens and looks pretty normal. (Well normal enough to fool Hawke & Co even if it was pretty obvious to us suspicious players).

What? Really? Do you have a vid of this ??

Edit:

If you mean this with Janeka...

Her comment... I feel like a whole new person...

This sounds rather... Okay.... I give it up. ^^

Al this is too much for my confused mind.

I haven't played the Fallout Games but dlc that work as a standalone but are part of a overarching story is definitely something BW should start doing. Awakening style expansions sadly seem to be a thing if the past so it would be the next best thing.

It's sort of implied but not crystal-clear

Side with Janeka "I feel like...a different person":

Side with Larius "My head is clear now" "I thank you for my freedom" "My gratitude you have for my freedom":

Borderlands also does episodic DLC. There's another big franchise that does too...I can't remember which one though. It seems like a happy medium between stand-alone DLC and longer content. They can always stop releasing it if it's really not successful, but can still give a more fulfilling story. I do wish they could do another Awakenings, but when did another franchise release something like that? The last I can think of was Red Dead's zombie pack thing.

I guess another alternative is to go the Ubisoft route and come out with shorter games on a tighter release schedule but I'd really hate that (I think the Assassin's Creed games could be a lot better). I think Ubisoft will back off of their game-a-year strategy if they ever get any real competition in their genre anyway.

Probably because the model existed in game but wasn't used and a modder repurposed it into their Fenris mod.

The other night, a friend and I were talking about what happened at the Conclave, and Fen'Harel's true intentions behind giving the Orb to Corypheus. I cannot imagine someone who prefers intellectual subtle strategies as the Dread Wolf aim for such a fiasco. Most possibly the actual, uninterrupted ritual -- unbeknownst to Corypheus -- was meant to drop down the Veil, activate the dormant powers of the Orb, kill its caster (as powerful blood magic spells do) and bestow the Anchor on someone else, quite likely Solas himself. (Probably why he was present near the Conclave in the first place. A sort of proximity spell, if you will. Think of Morrigan's Dark Ritual and how she absorbs Urthemiel's soul regardless of whether she's in the active party or not.)

A lot of birds with one stone... If  the ritual had gone right.

Instead we got a lovely Breach in the sky, the Orb became unstable and eventually destroyed, Corypheus walked away scot-free, and the Anchor was bestowed upon the Inquisitor.

Well done, Solas.

And the Divine. She disrupted the whole thing.

So I had "the talk" with my fiance tonight.  He's felt for a couple weeks now that something's been off with me.

A little back story -- He HATES spoilers.  It frustrates me to no end some times, because babes let's be realistic, you're not going to have time to play this franchise.  I mean, I am still holding onto all of the pain of Shepard.  Please, can you play the ME Trilogy some time soon, so I can purge all of this ****?  I mean, Mordin, Legion, Thane,  Shepard.  I hurt.  So much.  And on top of that I have to hold onto everything for DA as well.  Which hasn't been as difficult for me until now.  Honestly I've never wanted to tell him about how much my little heart loves Alistair.  He'd give me that look.

And then Solas came along.  I didn't even mention his name.  Kept it as vague as possible.  Confessed how once I finished the game the world lost a little colour.  Explained how the writing and acting for Solas melded together in such a way that sometimes he was a little too real.  That statement got a reaction.  "Are you cheating on me with a video game character?"  He wasn't serious.  We had a laugh.  I then had no choice but to explain how it was embarrassing for me at first that a character was making me feel that way.  Because I have such a fulfilling relationship that has me content and happy.  But these damn pixels were breaking me to the point that carrying out every day life was difficult for almost a week.

But then I told him about you guys and this thread.  It's helped me immensely. Thanks Solas thread!

I had the same talk with my husband.  He both supports and mocks me.

It's a beautiful and complicated relationship we all have with Solas, there's no denying that, but with help, we will all succumb to overcome the madness...

With time.  And paid DLC.  And smut.  And this thread.  And booze.

And body pillows with our favorite egg-head taped to it.

Solas' big miscalculation seems to be he doesn't know that Cory like Archdemons can only be killed a certain way but how much of what happened at Haven was his plan and how much of it was Cory's?

Did unlocking the orb require a blood sacrifice? The Divine isn't a mage but she's an equivalent of a high priest, was killing her in her god's temple somehow symbolic? Did it amp up the sacrifice and make it all the more powerful?

We know Cory's endgame but nothing of Solas' and it's a bit frustrating.
