Cole also references the same trapped people in the dialogue after Solas and Lavellan break up. The second time around, when he imagines what it would be like releasing them, he actually gasps in fear.

Presumably those memories are the ones Solas later asked him to forget about.

This conversation is amazing once you realize who Solas is, and what they might be talking about it.  So much isn't said here, and yet this conversation is huge in what it could represent and tell us about Solas over all

I believe he gasps because Solas blocks his mind-reading abilities, hence "It disappeared!" (or was it "Where did it go?") afterwards.

I thought he gasped in surprise because Solas somehow 'blocked' his mind, thus the "where did it go?" and then Solas says something like, "I'm sorry Cole, that's not a pain you can heal"?

It's just what I'm predicting.

Bioware is doing the end of the prior ages garbage trope in the series.

It's been present in all the games and they set Solas up to be a future antagonist...like Jake Wesker in Resident Evil.

So yeah, I'm expecting him to die, and the pc to be the one to do it.

Save the world and all that.

COG.

Interesting theory, but isn't each age supposed to be about 100 years?  How long have we been in the Dragon Age?

Ah! That is a possibility too. I just assumed Cole lost his train of thought because he often thinks somewhat erratically.

This is why I think Solas is trying to keep them locked up, not release them. Most of the Keys (from my theory) are out in the world free. And corypheus was close to releasing the final two.

I also think Solas has a different plan...to help the elves. But i don't know what it is...

Sometimes the RL relationships mirror fiction.. or vice versa

Can you tell me where to find a hot male elf?  I'd be forever in your debt.

Hrmmm

Question...

Did you let Solas kill the mages who summoned his wisdom friend or did you stop him?

I let him kill them, first because I don't like how much we can influence our companion decisions, so I tend to restrain myself wth this kind of things. Second, because I understand revenge, it's soemthing I can support, in a videogame at least   I only stop Jack in her loyalty mission, because that's not  revenge, that's just going crazy. Everyone else, I let them do whatever they want to (at least in my canon): Garrus, Fenris, Varric... everyone... and so does Solas.

Hi everyone, me think in a very few moment I would join this thread soon since I am making a Lady Lavellan to go for this most fascinating character in DA:I :)

A quick question: is romancing Solas with a mage give a better dynamique compared to romancing him with a non-mage? For comparison Cullen's romance have a slightly different dynamique if you're a mage compared to non-mages. Is this also the case with Solas?

Thanks in advance!

thers not much difference in the dialogue options, theres magge stuff you get for being a mage but thats not particularly romance related.

Now in an RP perspective, Id say it depends what story your wish to craft. A mage Lavellan is most likely in line to eventually become Keeper. So shes supposed to know a little more things then your average hunter Lavellan and it goes well with a character who is about researching the Truth. Theres a good dynamic to be had there but it can feel weird when she doesnt realize shes in the Fade, or that she cant read Elvhen in the Temple of Mythal. I feel more betrayed by the Dalish as a mage / future Keeper.

I feel hunter Lavellan has more reason to be the 'you know nothing Jonh Snow' character the game portrays the Dalish Elves to be. You got a good heart, wisdom beyond your age, but still very 'mortal' and unaware in comparaison to the big picture. Also it explains why she doesnt challenge Solas knowledge (and the game doesnt let you challenge him much while romanced (or ask questions even when unromanced) so its fitting with the actual opportunities given to us). And I feel it fits well with the romance ending, the whole starcrossed 'mortal meets god' story, where you fall in love with the man he could have been. Anyway thats just my take :)

Both are worth playing for sure.

(I secretly think the ending could have been diffrent with a mage Lavellan, maybe he could have told her. But before he tells hunter Lavellan, he would have to change his stance on what the present elves are worth as a whole (them not having magic being a big point I can see him not getting on board with), which he doesnt do, yet. But it could. So much of my appreciation for this romance still hangs on what will happen next. :S )

Its really hard to say. There's almost equal evidence supporting the theory that Solas wants to release the elven gods as there is him wanting to keep them restrained.

Ultimately I think it depends on who actually betrayed Mythal. Because I don't think she would give Solas her power and then let him make amends with that person.

Good afternoon all!

Busy morning at work so I haven't had time to post, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I must really be self-loathing today because I spent my entire lunch hour in my car listening to Dana Duchy videos on youtube of banter, first the entire What Pride Has Wrought quest and then the entire damn Solas romance and I just sat in my car sniffling and got real sad.

Dammit.

If i recall correctly, the god of death was the one who was waging the wars so he would get more tributes. And Mythal was the one who lead the fight against him to restrain him. Of all the people who would kill her, it would be him.

However it is a betrayal we speak of. So maybe it was someone on her side. Maybe Dirthamen, because Dirth was Falon's BFF.

And then it'll turn out that it was Sylaise or June. Because no one suspects them.

If it is an elven god, I would say we have three contendors:

Falon'Din: So powerful that all the gods had to team up on him to get him to calm down.

Elgar'nan: Was Mythal's counterpart and the 'leader'. Another good potential.

Andruil: Has connections to Fen'Harel and Mythal, the only one we know for certain went completely mad.

The others have no evidence. But some possible thoughts:

June: Definitely the one least expected, as we know nothing about him.

Dirthamen: Super close to Falon'Din

Sylaise: A bit like June, not a lot of direct information. I can't remember if Solas says anything about her.

Ghilan'nain: Was apparently once "mortal", in the sense that an ancient elf could possibly be. There is always the possibility that her unusual origin let her slip from the trap that Fen'Harel created.

My vote is Elgar'nan. Mostly because of the way Flemeth's betrayal called to her. It would make sense if their betrayal was similar and not just a matter of betrayal as a base. The passion of which Flemythal spoke. It had to be deeply personal and what would be more personal that your counterpart betraying you.

Darn it all to the wastes...I need to finish this commission so I can get to finishing Solas art....*sobs*

That is definitely a good point. Flemeth and Mythal are both feeding off of the same hate.

Have a fanfic! This is a lovely story by TheBroodyElf from the pov of Solas during the final romance scene inspired by the revaluations of his feelings from the Patrick Weekes interview.
