If it is an elven god, I would say we have three contendors:

Falon'Din: So powerful that all the gods had to team up on him to get him to calm down.

Elgar'nan: Was Mythal's counterpart and the 'leader'. Another good potential.

Andruil: Has connections to Fen'Harel and Mythal, the only one we know for certain went completely mad.

The others have no evidence. But some possible thoughts:

June: Definitely the one least expected, as we know nothing about him.

Dirthamen: Super close to Falon'Din

Sylaise: A bit like June, not a lot of direct information. I can't remember if Solas says anything about her.

Ghilan'nain: Was apparently once "mortal", in the sense that an ancient elf could possibly be. There is always the possibility that her unusual origin let her slip from the trap that Fen'Harel created.

On Ghilan'nain:

Ghilan'nain was very close to Andruil. Andruil is the one who made her a goddess. You don't just make someone at the level of god for nothing. Maybe they loved each other.

Andruil was going crazy and Mythal turned into a "serpent" and stole Andruil's knowledge of the void while battling her. There might be more to this. Maybe Mythal hurt Andruil very badly and something happened and Andruil could not recover from their battle.

Ghilan'nain might have wanted revenge for what she thought was Mythal hurting her best friend or lover. And Ghilan'nain killed mythal.

Just a thought.

Hmmm. A video...

Hello Solassians!

I just want to let you all know that no matter what I think we have a strong chance to get Lavellan and Solas back together one day soon. Don't give up.  <3

Solas loves our Lavellan and if they can get the Warden and Morrigan back together I can see that for Solas and Lavellan.  :)

Have an Amazing day everybody and don't let the negative cloud the positive.  <3

Of course- another thought is that all of them turned against her. Although in the scenario when all of them turn, it was probably Elgar'nan that made the call to do so.

That is definitely a good point. Flemeth and Mythal are both feeding off of the same hate.

I'm on the Elgar'nan train as well. We don't really know a lot about him, so there's enough mystery that he could be explored as a potential Big Bad. He's also the only other god (IIRC) that has a specific relationship with Mythal since he's the all-father and she's the all-mother.

But I wonder what he could have done that betrayed not just Mythal, but the world?

On Ghilan'nain:

Ghilan'nain was very close to Andruil. Andruil is the one who made her a goddess. You don't just make someone at the level of god for nothing. Maybe they loved each other.

I like the idea of Andruil x Ghilan'nain being lovers. It would fit the DA trend of tempestuous and sort of strange lesbian romances (why is this a trend? I don't know). But if Ghilly killed Mythal because of Andruil... I don't think that would have been a huge betrayal. Mythal would have known about their relationship and even if she didn't expect to be killed for hurting Andruil it probably wouldn't have been a surprise afterwards.

I also don't think Ghilly would have had enough power to take on Mythal. Not on her own. Mythal just seems a little too big for her to take as a young god.

So I had "the talk" with my fiance tonight.  He's felt for a couple weeks now that something's been off with me.

A little back story -- He HATES spoilers.  It frustrates me to no end some times, because babes let's be realistic, you're not going to have time to play this franchise.  I mean, I am still holding onto all of the pain of Shepard.  Please, can you play the ME Trilogy some time soon, so I can purge all of this ****?  I mean, Mordin, Legion, Thane,  Shepard.  I hurt.  So much.  And on top of that I have to hold onto everything for DA as well.  Which hasn't been as difficult for me until now.  Honestly I've never wanted to tell him about how much my little heart loves Alistair.  He'd give me that look.

And then Solas came along.  I didn't even mention his name.  Kept it as vague as possible.  Confessed how once I finished the game the world lost a little colour.  Explained how the writing and acting for Solas melded together in such a way that sometimes he was a little too real.  That statement got a reaction.  "Are you cheating on me with a video game character?"  He wasn't serious.  We had a laugh.  I then had no choice but to explain how it was embarrassing for me at first that a character was making me feel that way.  Because I have such a fulfilling relationship that has me content and happy.  But these damn pixels were breaking me to the point that carrying out every day life was difficult for almost a week.

But then I told him about you guys and this thread.  It's helped me immensely. Thanks Solas thread!

I'm so glad you were able to turn to him! <3

As clarification. Yes, yes you are.  We all are.

But...I don't have an actual boyfriend. I live vicariously through my PCs. XD

I think it's this one:

Cole: You don't need to envy me, Solas. You can find happiness in your own way.
Solas: I apologize for disturbing you, Cole. I am not a spirit, and sometimes it is hard to remember such simple truths.
Cole: They are not gone so long as you remember them.
Solas: I know.
Cole: But you could let them go.
Solas: I know that as well.
Cole: You didn't do it to be right. You did it to save them.
Inquisitor: Solas, what is Cole talking about?
Solas: A mistake. One of many made by a much younger elf who was certain he knew everything.
Cole: You weren't wrong, though.
Solas: Thank you, Cole.

SEE SOLAS A SPIRIT OF COMPASSION IS TELLING YOU, YOU WEREN'T WRONG. LISTEN. TO. HIM.

Oh no my affection for Solas just spiked even more. I didn't think that was possible.

It's going to be interesting if he's the villain of the next game. I'm going to be such a Solas apologist and I won't be able to help myself.

Just my thoughts, but- it could be the betrayal of the original purpose the gods gathered for. To bring some order to the world. Instead, eventually they chose power over that goal. If red lyrium was involved, then there's also the potential that they made it worse, or, they chose the 'Singer' to follow. [Not really sure how to phrase that, since we don't know how sentient the whatever force that's behind the red lyrium is.] That choice of power caused the destruction of their empire, and then later Tevintar, and the blight.

But we also know that Flemeth/Mythal talk a lot about how the world 'once was'. So it could have something to do with the veil, or whatever caused the world to fall out of magic. There's something going on with dragon's blood and the high dragons.

So long as I don't have to choose between him and another LI. I can't make those hard choices. Hubby is not around to clean up the puddles of my tears. And I think the dogs are tired of drinking them (they don't have BW's affinity for them).

Did the Veil exist during times of Arlathan? Could its creation be a "betrayal of the world"? Or... I dunno. We know so little. *sigh*

This has probably been talked about before but...

QVEbcBj.png

Where is this supposed to be? it's not anywhere else in the game and it has both their statues in it. Was it their shared elluvian? I feel like this confirms that they were like BFF.

I like the idea that Mythal and Solas were/are best friends. :)

[Images of mythal and fen'harel doing best friend stuff enter my mind]

It also confirms my idea that mythal being killed was the catalyst for Fen'Harel to put his foot down and do all the stuff to stop slavery and the wars.

I think it didn't, just from the way Solas spoke about spirits roaming freely. There is a tone to his voice when he is close to speaking the truth - he becomes very earnest, then catches himself and reels back.

Goddamnit, GDL did such a good job on him.

Or, perhaps he has been in the Fade so long, it could be his own desire.

BTW found another song for the playlist. Um...don't listen if you're already sad.

I could see how choosing power would fit. I'm wondering how close Mythal's story is to Flemeth's in general. Flemeth was betrayed by her lover(s) out of envy and jealousy. Maybe Mythal was betrayed because of her friendship with the Dread Wolf? Meh. Don't know. Can't wait to find out though.
