I did hate having to kill Fiona. There's not even really any acknowledgement of who she is. The quest in In Hushed Whispers is better too, though the templar side has more Cole and Calpernia > Samson. But I can't talk since I don't seem to be able to finish my human rogue game. Just going to play Lavellan on a loop, apparently. I'm not going to fight it while it's still fun.

My guess is that Andraste is an OGB and is who Cole refers to when he says "It was wrong to put it in a child. It hurt her."

Missed this *sigh*. Same here...Solavellan Syndrome strikes hard and is utterly unforgiving.

AHHH I FINALLY CAUGHT UP ON THE THREAD.

This is next to the world BS in the dictionary.

http://perfectlyswea...778/elfy-things

Oh, the joys of fandom. Especially on tumblr. *ROLLS EYES*

Hey, Solas and Your Trainer can talk shop with each other who knew?

Ooh... I've only ever seen Ser (I think that's the Templar trainer's name) and Cullen talk with each other. Thanks for this!

I have not done the Champion of the Just quest yet, both playthrough were mage. I'm planning on doing the Templars this run through with my mage Lavellan for the first time. Is it really that creepy? Excited if so and very glad it wasn't Bull related or Solas related.

It was super unsettling but nowhere near as bad as it would have been if they'd gone the original way they were planning.

Here's Solas being sad about the Breach, then. Does anything else think he didn't quite predict it would be so destructive or that an actual Breach would happen?

<snip>

I love when that screenshot pops up in the thread. XD I was super lucky getting that shot without having to record a video and do a frame-by-frame. Such a good sad puppy Solas face.

(I think he had absolutely no clue that handing Cory his orb would result in so much chaos. I think he was hoping all Cory would be able to do with it was power it up, not actually use it.)

Ok, so I only just now got caught up in this thread.

After seeing that Crossroads flycam video, I have a hypothesis that future DLC might start with an open Eluvian in the Crossroads. Morrigan says that several have been left open. Some go to weird places, and others provided her respite from Flemeth's all seeing eyes. The Eluvian is probably still in Skyhold after the end of the game. The Inquisitor could open it up ( themselves if Mage, via Well knowledge, or maybe Morrigan herself) and pick an open Eluvian to explore.

Merril's Eluvian is there, and it apparently leads to some "underground city" if Tamlen is to be believed. Could be...Kal-Sharok, an old Thaig, or an actual underground ancient elf ruin like the ones in the Brecillian Forest. Other open Eluvians could lead to interesting areas that continue piecing together Solas' actual motivations, unadulterated elf lore, or hidden monsters that were un/intentionally trapped when the Eluvians were cut off.

Think about it, create four sock-puppet accounts who gives you primary account likes everytime you post and you'll be the most popular user on BSN in no time!  ;)

I also tried to make a FemQunari because I'm determined to run with one at some point. She looked alright in the CC. Not alright outside of it. Damn.

This was one of my beefs with DA.  My first play through was as a Qunari because ever since the Qunari were revealed to have horns I have wanted to play as one for the sole purpose of making the joke "I'm horny".  Out of 83 hours of playing as a Qunari, there is not a single horn related innuendo. Its like I don't even know you bioware.  I thought I would save you some time.

Man you think he'd have done it while he was in the fade physically like a week earlier lol.

When was he in the Fade physically before Adamant?

I don't feel like one could separate them and get the same person. If Solas/Fen'Harel were two separate beings to begin with (something I'm not convinced of), then they're probably like Flemythal now -- so melded together that they lack distinct personalities. What if Fen'Harel is the rebellious, freedom-driven side of the pair, and Solas is the methodical, introspective side? Would you want one without the other? I have my reservations...

I'm philosophically against dualism, as in I really don't like the idea of body/spirit dualism, so that's why I would prefer to think of Solas/Fen'Harel as an integrated personality, but I admit I don't know how it all works.

Or when Morrigan's eluvian was just chilling out in the Keep. Apparently Flemythal and Kieran both knew how to unlock it and get into the Fade physically. Which no one bats an eye at, by the way. No one questions how weird it is that Mythal can apparently easily walk bodily in the Fade!?

Kieran does but do we know Flemeth is there physically?

Have a fanfic! This is a lovely story by TheBroodyElf from the pov of Solas during the final romance scene inspired by the revaluations of his feelings from the Patrick Weekes interview.

Before I forget, I had a truly insane dream featuring Solas last night.  It took place about 1000 years before Inquisition.  And Thedas was a landmass on an M class Mars.  But most of the story took place in a homeless village built into a canyon near my home in California (which was somehow also on mars).  (Seriously I couldn't make this up if I tried).  My eleven Inquisitor was a young women found the orb (I forget where, I can barely remember this) and keeps it in her hut at in the canyon  Solas is on a quest to find the orb to use its power to prevent Mars's core from destabilizing and causing the crust to break up.  Long story short I come along (Me, Cheese of Borg)  to get my car from the impound at the bottom of the canyon because I parked on the wrong side of the street.  Demons attack the camp, and I watch Solas finally find the Inquisitor (who of course is not yet the inquisitor) and they can't unlock the orb, because they have no key.  As the planet breaks apart, they kiss, and Solas realizes that she is literally the key.  The orb unlocks to reveal that it is a time machine, and knowing that he can not save Thedas/Mars he throws himself back 20 years.  I am now watching from a cutscene  perspective as he retrieves the orb from a child version of her, uses the orb to stabilize the planet,  and forees her being needed in the time of Inquisition.  He uses the orb to ensure that she will be re-incarnated 1000 years in the future to be the Inquisitor.  Right before he meets her again in the game, my friend texted me about a movie and woke me up.

Sorry about the wall of text, I mainly wanted to get it down before I forget.  I might expand this into a short story.

I stopped him from killing them. They were idiots, but I didn't think they deserved a firey death. And I usually play the kind, compassionate character so, yeah. :P

Edited to add: I did let Solas kill them on my Trevelyan playthrough though. ^__^;

Oooh! I'd love to see some NSFW Solavellan fanarts. (I'm not a perv, I swear!)

i feel like a terrible person for letting solas kill the mages in every playthrough now xD

Well Weekes tweeted a few days ago that he was sharing offices with level designers; people took that to mean him working on DLC content.

Not wanting to destroy your hopes, but that was in the context of a conversation about office sharing. I'm pretty sure it was a general statement, and not about what was happening at BioWare offices right now.

The whole chain of tweets went like this:

Don't accept a job at a company with open-concept offices. It will eat your soul and spit you out for everyone to see

Re: RT: Was quite happy sharing office with 6-8 writers/editors on Mass and DA, but that's folks on same part of work pipeline I'm on.

Trying to share offices with folks in other departments, FOLKS I LIKE, has just turned into stress craziness.

While the awesome level designers are chatting and laughing, I am in panicked deadline-mode on first-pass writing.

Later, while they're trying to bust their asses, I'm laughing with the other writers and spitballing ideas and jokes. We trip each other up.

Not saying they're not yet working on DLC, because they probably are. But if that was the indication he has a deadline to meet, then I fear this tweet was probably taken out of context :/

Also I just fought Corypheus with my solasmancing Lavellan and she's my first char to feel depressed at the banquet Her only happy moment was when Dorian declared he'd stay, contrary to what he said beforehand. And the voice acting on "what we had was real" was really good  :crying:

It's adorable that Solas could get so attached, but I can't help thinking "that is really emotionally unhealthy and an imbalanced relationship". I really would feel weird if my boyfriend could not sleep without me. It feels possessive and at the same time really co-dependent.

I mean I like messed up stuff in my fantasies. But when that type of stuff happens in real life, it gets bad really fast. I would not like that to be a part of the actual story line.

While the decision is in a cutscene, I think it's more likely that he just immediately kills them without the Inquisitor softly saying "Solas... ):" like a disappointed mom. I think it would have been more accurate if s/he were a little more hurried about it.

That being said, I still have a hard time deciding what's "canon." They basically killed a spirit in ignorance. They used a ritual book in a hurry to summon a non-specific spirit, effed up and got one of Wisdom (who apparently can't speak english). While they were (possibly) trying to save themselves from bandits...one of those three should have realized this spirit didn't look like a typical scary demon who is totally ok with fighting things. In that sense, killing them is fine with me because they always had the choice/opportunity to say "wait no :|"

Then again, it's not right that someone has to due automatically because they effed up and didn't know better. Cole didn't know better when he first started helping people, but Rhys gave him a chance and taught him differently. Now Cole doesn't automatically go to the Murder Knife. He learned and altered his way of thinking to better help people.

Solas is furious and heartbroken that they killed his friend. He also committed a terrible act in an effort to save whoever "them" is, and likely did it in ignorance of the true consequences. Should he die for that mistake now? He might think so on some level, but it doesn't necessarily make it right. Flemythal could have killed him easily if she thought he deserved it or would restore what was lost.  Solas might disapprove a lot if you stop him from killing those mages, but I think in the long run he might be able to accept that immediate fury wasn't the correct action and he would have regretted it later.

Hm. Weekes; "If you really want to get to know Solas listen to what he brings up on his own."

Solas; "Iron Bull, how do you people put on shirts?"

Shirts were a very important part of ancient Elvhen culture.  A shirt defined who an individual was, from their status to their role in society.  It took Solas a long time to find the proper shirt, one that would appropriately define the role he intended to take during the Dragon Age:  Lonely Apostate Elf Hermit.  Then he realized he needed something extra, because of his penchant for tight leggings.

As such, Solas is fascinated with the shirt-wearing habits (or lack thereof) of other races.  Surely the qunari must wear them at least for matters of ritual importance!

(Yah, kind of a lame joke...)

"Well, it doesn't want for sand."

- Solas in the Hissing Wastes

Stained glass and crystal being important in the artwork of the ancient Elvhen, Solas was impressed by the potential glass-crafting possibilities of the vast deserts in southwestern Thedas.

Did we hear a nothing on future dlc? I saw a fe2 pa ges back someone mentioned they admitted they are working on one. Any idea on time or content?

Well, there have been game files found suggesting a qunari-themed DLC.  I expect that would give the qunari Inquisitors a bit more relevance.  Also, if it ties in much with Iron Bull, well, Weekes wrote Iron Bull.  There may be dialogue from other companions as well, in which case he'd also need to write for Cole and Solas, lest anyone play it prior to the end of the game and still have Solas in their party.

I wouldn't expect anything too intense regarding Solas until perhaps the final one or two DLCs.

Solas would probably enjoy sleeping with the woman he loves in his arms, but it would just be an enjoyable side benefit of the relationship and one of the many things he would probably miss. He probably wouldn't have trouble sleeping without her, though. He'd just be sad that it was one of the many activities lost when the relationship ended. That's how I imagine it, anyways. Sad but not possessive or dependent.
