In regards to headcannon endings: I don't see Tiger Festival sticking around to lead either. Not when most of her closest allies are going to be scattered, doing their own things, and the only man she will ever love has up and decided to go be a big damn tragic hero without her. Bare-faced, she won't return to her clan, if they still live. That pretty much narrows her path down to two options:

1. Take the Ferelden Forder and find Solas.
2. Take the Taslin Strider and find Solas.

She's not a hart girl, and those two horses have my favorite coats out of the bunch, so that would really be the harder decision when it comes to what my Lavellan will do next.

So I finally had the time to listen to Patrick Weekes interview on Rated NA and as frustrated as I feel about Solas leaving, I'm also kind of glad that his character is so much more interesting and we have all this potential for a richer story in the future. I mean Solas has the potential to be Morrigan. After the end of DA:O I honestly did not know how to feel about her and her intentions. At the end I just wanted my Warden and Alistair to live but you actually put a big strain in your relationship having him perform a ritual that would conceive a child. I mean she leaves you (specially those that romanced her) and you don't know what will happen to the child or whatever relationship you had with her. Is she evil after all or what she actually trying to help you (and herself) there? In DA:I, if you romanced her, the Warden has a family waiting for him. Pretty damn FLUFF! Mind you it took 3 games to get there and you're still not together but c'mon (work in progress, **** is probably getting real with the Calling) lol.

 

Obviously Solas is more complicated in this regard because he's a BAMF Elvhen "God" but I'm hoping that Bioware is setting us up for an epic story here. I just don't think they would go to the trouble of adding his romance and then leaving it as is. It was extra time and effort and look how amazing and heartbreaking it turned out? 

 

Also in the interview, Weekes was very VERY careful with what he said but I love how he was reassuring us that Solas was honest with his feelings for the Inquisitor and his interaction with her inner circle. Also the fact that at that point in the end he was willing to forget the past. That's pretty strong right there.

 

lol the fact he says adding the romance would make it sadder, officially confirms Bioware does feed off our tears. The question is will Solas/Lavellan be addressed in the next DLC or game? People who romanced Morrigan had to wait a very long time (2 games) but the rewards were precious.

I really wish things such as non-con or dub-con, possessive!Solas or violent!Solas or dom!Solas or sexwolf!Solas would be better tagged. I am sorry and I feel bad that I keep mentioning but this kind of stuff is triggery for me and I want to read fics but some things I just can't and would rather not find out after I click on a link. So, I don't know if this is an original theory or not (I'm guessing not), but it occurred to me while replaying the game.  During your first or second conversation, Solas talks about his childhood, growing up in a small village to the north, with "little to interest a young man, especially one gifted with magic" (paraphrasing here), explaining why he gets so into exploring the Fade.

 

Thing is, if he's Fen'Harel, that's a lie.  But it really doesn't sound like a lie-- he sounds nostalgic and a little sad. And he usually doesn't lie so outrightly like that-- unless it's necessary or you force him into it, he usually just deflects the question. Also, if he grew up in the age of immortal elves, having magic wouldn't make him any kind of outsider, even in a small village, since everyone had magic.

 

So how can he both be Fen'Harel and be telling the truth? Well, maybe the powerful elf mage named Fen'Harel did grow up in a small village to the north, but that doesn't explain why having magic would make him particularly unusual or bored.  And if you think Fen'Harel created the fade with the Anchor, obviously child Fen'Harel couldn't go exploring it in-- it didn't exist yet!

 

So maybe he's a kind of reincarnation of Fen'Harel, but not really in the sense that we might think of as reincarnation in Earth religions.  More like how Morrigan's son is a 'reincarnation' but without the body-sharing aspect? Maybe Fen'Harel was or became a really powerful spirit that 'crossed over,' kind of like Cole, into the body of a newborn elf (or even before birth). It's possible he sealed HIMSELF away when he created the Fade, too, considering Fen'Harel is supposed to have disappeared at the same time, supposedly to laugh in some dark corner somewhere for a thousand years. So-- no bodysharing like Anders. If you've ever read David Mitchell's Ghostwritten, it has this really interesting section about a 'non-corporeal being' that (spoilers) ends up doing basically that-- choosing to be born into a human body instead of living as a bodiless spirit. So he could be Fen'Harel and also Solas.  It would also be a better explanation of why a young Solas would be so interested in the Fade-- to discover what happened in the 1000-odd years he was away from the world/in the Fade, to find the Anchor, to find Mythal.  And as to why a young Solas would feel like he didn't belong.

 

Of course this theory kind of falls apart when you learn that the 'village' he claims to be from is an old ruin. So I dunno.  I guess if his 'essence' and not his body makes him immortal, it could still work.  Plus, Fen'Harel would have his own childhood too, right? I don't actually completely believe my own theory here, haha. I do think Solas IS Fen'Harel, I just have trouble reconciling certain things with what we know about the god.  Now I'm feeling all confused.  I need explanatory DLC, Bioware!  I can't wait 5 years until DA4 to learn everything!  I'll be super old by then!

Well I can assure you my first chapter will have no smut in it at all. Just Fen'harel meeting Lavellan who is the keeper of the Creator's shrines. I'm not really the best at writing smut...I mean I can do it...but then I feel...dirty...lol!

It's adorable that Solas could get so attached, but I can't help thinking "that is really emotionally unhealthy and an imbalanced relationship". I really would feel weird if my boyfriend could not sleep without me. It feels possessive and at the same time really co-dependent. 

 

I mean I like messed up stuff in my fantasies. But when that type of stuff happens in real life, it gets bad really fast. I would not like that to be a part of the actual story line.

So yeah, ^^THAT^^ is why Im (somewhat) glad Solas broke up with Lavellan when he figured he couldnt be truthful with her. He put his grownup pants and broke up the relationship because it wasnt healthy. And it hurt them both a lot.

 

Actually im happy is not some 'Im trying to protect you so im fleeing without breaking up' bs that we see so often. That kind of string along irkes me. 

 

But Im sure with time they can both understand it was the right thing to do since he wasnt ready to own up. And I say that without malice toward Solas. You cant get to a real place when you start building on lies, and he recognized that. As much as he wanted it to be, he didnt want it that way.

 

Now when they meet again, maybe theres a chance to 'start again'... theres a lot of catching up to do on Solas part but hes all about learning right? Maybe he can realize the present is worth living.

I just want to say re:sleeping alone , after living with my husband nearly five years I would be a total mess if I had to sleep without him near. We've only been apart overnight a handful of times the entire time we've been together and it's awful. I toss and turn and get no sleep.

How do you guys think Lavellan will go about finding Solas? I like the idea of going through that eluvian in skyhold. The quest should involve a lot of puzzles trying to figure out which eluvian leads to where. There also needs to be a bunch of puzzles to unlock the eluvians. Of course, they need to have other things in the quest such as boss fights, dialogue, etc to balance things out, but I think solving puzzles is crucial. I think Solas is so evasive that it takes cleverness to find him and the temple of mythal was also protected by a puzzle/ritual so it makes sense with elven lore. Some players may hate all the puzzles, but it just makes a lot of sense to me. Also, I like puzzles.

 

The postgame codex entry for Solas says he was last seen heading west, and Morrigan, I think, said that the HoF also went to the west in her journey to stop the Calling. It may be a coincidence, or a hint that both will end in the same destination. My guess is that the story will focus on the Wardens and Solas will be involved somehow.

Cassandra is like the only other person outside of Lady Lavellan that I could accept in a relationship with Solas. I do love their friendship, though. I like seeing how Solas comes to admire Cassandra's integrity and faith and later even accepts the possibility of the Maker. I just love having Solas, Cassandra, and Cole in a party together. Team Mutually Respectful Moral and Theological Debate for life.
