Things will slip through from time to time, but we can always try out best. It's not like we're going to kick someone from the thread if they forget a warning! Just give them a gentle reminder to add some in.

 

And there's no harm in adding a sentence just to say what a picture/fic is, that way the person can decide for themself whether it makes them uncomfortable before clicking!

I do think the thread could benefit from either 

a] Only putting NSFW art/fic in the fanworks thread we have, to avoid unpleasant surprises (and mod action against people in the thread; make sure to link to these instead of posting them directly in the thread! I'm pretty sure it's against the forum's rules to post stuff like that directly on the forum)

I'm all for better descriptions of art/fic/whatever. "NSFW" is not descriptive enough. But I'd rather we not sequester all NSFW art/fic to another thread. I don't want to keep track of multiple threads, I can barely keep up with this one. If someone is worried about clicking on something that will make them uncomfortable then just don't click on things that aren't explicitly labeled, ask the poster to edit the description, or ask someone else in the thread.

 

Okayyy people. How someone acts in public does not dictate how they act in bed/what they prefer. This goes both ways, so can we not start "Solas would never do that!" because we really don't know. Let's just respect that people headcanon different things and we can't say one or the other is more accurate. Again, let's just respect that and not try to say the "correct" Solas. I don't even read/write fanfic but sometimes I see a lot of that in here and people with different preferences might feel bad. Let's welcome everyone, shall we? And we can try to respect that people are made uncomfortable by certain things as well! *Says respect a lot because this thread is a unicorn*

The promo art of him is a little weird though. His model looks a little spidery and his forehead is sort of short....

I think in theory this is a great idea but some things are bound to slip through. There are far too many variables for even a description posted to sufficiently warn someone with certain triggers.

I'm not saying we shouldn't add descriptions but I am saying that we should pick our battles before this thread turns bitter like so many others because there is just no way to respectfully enforce the rule.

And what I may consider harmless from behind action someone else may consider that to be Solas treating Lavellan like an animal and be offended.

I'm all for making it work for everyone, though. If I ever post fanfic in the future I will be sure to appropriately label it for any personal triggers. Its all we can really ask from anyone and hopefully that will be enough.

 

Yeah, it's unfortunately impossible to include every kind of warning... but I do think there are a few basics that people can all agree on. c:

 

For instance, on my Tumblr I use "content warning" tags if there is--and now I'm remembering how terrible the games I usually post about on Tumblr are (ugh)--rape, drug use, abuse, bestiality (I don't think I've had to use this, but uh I'm guessing it might be useful in this thread), suicide, or gore. If a fic (or any art) has any of those things, I don't think it's unreasonable for there to be warnings before the link.

Makes sense! Mostly I just wasn't sure how the mods handle that sort of thing; the last thing I want is someone getting reported to the mods because they just wanted to share art or a fic. It hasn't happened yet, though, so maybe it's okay...? (Though I do think a big post somewhere with links to all of the Solas fics(/art?) would be nice to have, because this thread does move quickly... hmm. :/a I might look into doing that in the future.)

I think as long as someone is posting a link and not the actual content on the forum they are safe. So posting the NSFW image here is bad, but posting a description of what it is is probably fine. Unless the link goes to something that would be illegal.

I personally want to option to still click all the links and art. The safe stuff is safe to put up here anyway, and the intimate stuff is user prerogative to click anyway.

Everyone has been excellent about putting up NSFW tags so I've never been surprised by the level of intimacy of a thing I click because everyone's been marking what it is already. A few slip ups happen because we all have different tastes, no biggie. I default to not clicking if I'm not sure. :}
 

As for what type of romance Solas would have, I think the beauty of these games is how each player can personally interpret their Lev/Sol 

 

Live and let live. we all love different aspects of solas, and we all imagine different ways of having fun with him. ;D

Don't think it would end in the Inquisitor's death. Maybe Solas', but I highly doubt they'd make a DLC where the Inquisitor must die. They'll probably make sure that the end result of any DLC is roughly the same across all PTs, so if there were an option where the Inquisitor doesn't die, that means it's possible for Solas to do whatever without killing the quiz and then why would anyone ever sacrifice themselves? It doesn't make a lot of sense for me.

 

But mostly, I don't think they'd kill a PC in DLC since people would complain a lot if their OC was killed off in extra content that they don't play (and we know they apply the effects of DLC to the Keep whether or not someone plays it)

I was thinking more like there being a possibility of the inquisitor dying depending on certain decisions, Doesn´t the "Justinia" say something about it impossible to remove the anchor without the inquisitor dying? Lets say that´s what he needs,maybe one of your past decisions will come into play here, but I don't think it would be forced so people who didn´t play would still be able to set up their preferred outcome via the keep. I´m most likely wrong but it´s fun to speculate I have a question,if they ever did a DLC similar to ME3s Citadel,what do you think the inquisitor and Solas would do together?

Sweet Maker! BW needs to fix the Dorian companion quest trigger so I can romance Dorian... My heart belongs to Solas (of course) but Dorian was the first one that caught my eye in the promo *sigh*

There was still leftover glitter on the floor my senior year -- it never goes away! Assuming they keep the Solavellan sexual aspect ambiguous, I could see them going somewhere cool in the Fade together. In my perfect world where animation budgets are infinite he'd show her his favorite place/memory from the Fade - possibly Arlathan or his village. Without an infinite budget he could still share stories about his old life. Lavellan doesn't know much about him personally, and while it's pretty likely we'll find out a lot about the Dread Wolf in future games I don't know that we'll find out much more about Solas.

 

Or goodness, I wonder if she could stumble upon their first few meetings from his perspective. Like how Solas talks about seeing Ostagar from the perspective of Loghain's soldiers and the Wardens. I think Lavellan's heart would melt seeing how much Solas cared for her so early on. I don't know how they'd animate that... but I think it'd make good fanfiction.

Yeah Cullen and Solas were added in the year extension. I understand why Cullen has more content since you can't take him with you on any of the missions (except Wicked Hearts), and Solas has a lot to contribute if you bring him along in your party but... I'd still be really surprised if there was no more content in DLC or a future game. Or just hand-wave content (like the Hawke LI mentions). The romance isn't finished. Even if they don't get back together, Lavellan is going to have a big reaction to the Fen'Harel reveal because they were/are in love. It's going to be a different kind of reaction than someone who isn't Dalish, and did not romance him. If they try to squash that into one flirt line I think it'll be a huge waste.

 

Solas' romance is popular, and Solas' character is popular. So... hopefully that works out.

 

Does anyone know if there have been sales figures for DAI? I know it's received critical acclaim, but I'm wondering how well they're doing financially since that probably affects the amount of money they can put into DLC.
