For clarification: my comment came from the wiki, and was not meant to argue the time frame for when the shutdown happened - more to address the fact that they HAD been shut down. Since Morrigan went to the crossroads and still couldn't get them to work, I would say the shutdown goes beyond just being able to get there.

The 'inexplicable' was just meant as 'details I couldn't really confirm' (don't have my books to check right now). I just know they got shut down.

I'm not sure what TME stands for in the forum? I'm new. ;}

As far as Morrigan goes, Solas ends up correcting her several times. Her understanding of history is incorrect. One of the things I like most about the world they're developing is that the lore itself is imperfect. I think while this gives the writers some freedom to surprise us and not be so stringent on things, it also makes it more realistic (like a game of telephone - much like real life legends) and also leaves more room for mystery and discovery. I'd probably be more inclined to check a first hand experience from a character stand point, one of the novels, or the history/rpg book.

I remember, someone asked Gaider on tumblr how much of the (true) elven lore and history that comes up in DAI was planned back at the times of DAO. His answer was "All of it".

Yeah, so maybe they're kind of like Lyrium? Or made out of Lyrium?  And if the Warden ends up learning how to cure the taint, maybe they can fix the blighted eluvians, too?  Maybe that's why Morrigan goes west, to team up with the Warden? *pure speculation*

Yeah. I not not the only one who feels as if a Lavellan makes the most sense with all the elven stuff that goes on?

Hear, hear. In DAO all origins were so tightly interweaved, it was hard to pick one canon. In DAI you really have no choice but to go with mage lavellan, if you want to sqeeze the most interesting details out of the plot.

I did look at his twitter once...it was just one time I swear...and he did retweet(it's difficult to say retweet out loud, especially if you try to do it fast. That is the right word to use for twitter, right? Retweet?) Solas related things. I think it was when Renmiri tweeted about the length of the Solas thread.

Just an FYI, but the "perfume banter" is actually a Cassandra banter that is not exclusive to Solas, so it has nothing to do with the Solas romance. Apparently there are trees in the Hissing Wastes that let off a nice smell but apparently are also poisonous. Viv's the one who clears that up.

 

Ah, timing. I had just reached this point in my Solas thread catch up at the same time I triggered that perfume banter in the hissing wastes in my background DA sidequesting. My M!Lavellan was wondering what that was about   "What's this Solas? Is it a woman!? Don't leave a brother hanging!"

Damn trees.

 

I ran my two new inquisitors through the beginning section of the game to see if they passed the 'Ugly or nay?' test. I decided they passed. Plus, still not tired of Solas's intro scene.

So I avoided TME because I dislike politically driven stories (they're tooorrrrturrreeee) but I have read all the synopsis stuff.

I don't really think Bioware is bumbling through a world they've designed to be this big and fluid. I just mean, I like that we're being made to question what we've been told by game characters. I like that the stories and characters are imperfect :} It also leads me to doing more research above and beyond because for a while I was GMing for a Dragon Age RPG, and I had to write my happy ending fan fic for Solas so I could move on D:

I just remembered. There was a poll before the release on the forums. Who are you going to romance your first play through. Bull and Cass were some of the top votes and Solas and Blackwall were at the bottom. Now, Solas is one of the highest rated romances.

 

From, "Eww bald!" To "Who is this smooth motherfucker?" We've come a long way, Unicorns. A long way.
