Well for the American it is a bit strange since the voice is deeper, but it is a really chilling moment. Now with Miss Alix...I could never say she did not preform flawlessly...well besides that "What going on here?" line.

That was because her memory was missing.  In the Fade after she gets the pieces back, that line changes.

Incidentally I thought TME did a very good job with Celene, Briala and Gaspard. I'm now leaning towards a Gaspard + Briala lordship as being the best for Orlais. Though I wanted to roast all of them when....

Spoiler

Some interesting bits from Flemeth in DA2 that remind me of Solas.

I wasn't too fond of Clan Virnehn. Thelhen, and especially the warleader, came across as far too one-dimensional for my tastes. I wish Weekes had given them the same depth that Celene, Gaspard, Briala, and even a minor character like Comte Pierre received.

Given what happened when Asha'bellanar and Fen'Harel finally encountered one another, I wonder if he also has her knowledge has well, considering how long-lived she is. And I'm curious why Asha'bellanar chose Morrigan for her "gift", rather than Yavana.

And interesting that Merrill has a similar view of spirits as Solas does. Merrill can't die in DA2, right? Maybe we'll see her again. I was mad at her before when I was playing DA2 because I thought she betrayed Tamlen and Mahariel in a way, by reclaiming the eluvian that did that horribad stuff to them. Also because in my first, unspoiled game, I had to kill her clan (I was yelling stopstopSTOP!!!1!! at the screen). But I did say at the time that if the eluvians proved to be important, she'd be redeemed in my eyes, and so she has.

DragonAge22015-01-0121-52-18-23_zps1ec28

Merrill came to mind when Solas started talking about how complex spirits were and how blood magic wasn't evil, and that's when I decided to move away from a more traditional, orthodox Dalish and make a more Merrill-esque, atypical one. I do wish more was done with the Eluvian storyline, however. Even Briala's network of Orlesian Eluvians is never addressed in the storyline (except for one letter).

If DLC featured Merrill, Briala, and utilized the Eluvians, I'd be pretty happy. I can only imagine how Briala might use the technology to help the Elvhen if she gained the throne of Orlais. I thought the scope of Briala's character was never really fleshed out in the game, not like it is in the novel, and I'd like to see that changed.

XD It's cool! I went back through around 15 pages so I think I caught myself up relatively well.

I do have a question for you guys though. I have my first chapter for my story pretty much done*just doing some editing...again*, and I was wondering how would you guys like to see Fen'Harel portrayed. I have seen a lot of him being dominate, cruel in some fics, etc. My story is going to have him be a bit softer....is that something that would be a thing that would attract people or turn them away?

I'd like a softer Fen'Harel also. Though I do think that the style of Fen'Harel really depends on what period you're writing him from - I can imagine him growing less like the other Creators and more solitary, desperate, and caring as time went on, up til the culmination of his "tricks".

I wonder what it sounds like for one of the female voices to say those lines. The British male Inquisitor voice angrily speaking elvish is... well. *fans self*

I found a female Inquisitor on youtube with this conversation. She doesn't speak elven. :(

Man, That is really interesting. It puts weight behind him HOPEFULLY not going to be a Villain.

I'm curious as to what makes you say that?

Yeah, I just finished listening to the other options. The line: "Pick the fights you can win, remember your goals, and do nothing that does not further them", seems fairly relevant. It seems like the sort of thing he would tell himself frequently.

Agreed. That's a worrisome approach to life though. Too tired to try and figure out how it may work with current ideas about Solas's future. Maybe he can just stop and go back to Lavellan and get hugged a lot. She can buy him a puppy. Or a dozen puppies.

He sounds so exhausted, and even though he's being pretty friendly (with someone he doesn't like no less) you can feel the weight behind everything he's saying. A few causes, he said. Just how many causes?

Also...did Bioware forget that Dalish elves are apparently supposed to know a limited vocabulary? The Dalish protagonist understands  a lot of Elven they maybe shouldn't? Except when plot (coughconversationinFade) decides otherwise, that is.

Those videos are awesome.

I think a Keeper/ First would know the most, but even if you're not playing a mage, Lavellan is obviously highly regarded in her clan and probably keeper's pet so maybe you know more than most. Though I never had the sense the Dalish were totally ignorant of elven. What they do know, they hold to tightly.

This has some very interesting dialogue as well. This time around, he seems to imply that he actually does want to help, but doesn't have a solution.

Oh god. What if when the creators/forgotten ones become released, they don't go after Solas. They go after Lavellan because they know that if they killed her, it would hurt Solas more than killing him.

That would be interesting. Although, they'd have to do it for another reason other than hurting Solas for it to make sense for all playstyles, as Scintilla pointed out.

Assuming they are aware of what has been going on in the world, trapped as they are, they would know that the Inquisition is kind of a big deal for all of southern Thedas - which seems to be their old stomping grounds. In that case they may decide to forgo their retribution on the dread wolf, and skip straight to trying to take the land back. In order to do that, they'd have to take out the Inquisition.

Were that inquisition led by a Lavellan that Solas has fallen in love with, it would just be that much more horrifying to witness. Either way he'd probably feel obligated to warn them.

However, I hope that they try to clobber Solas first and the Inquisitor gets there just at the nick of time to deal with him and the more immediate (single map) troubles from the thing he has done. That is the only way I can imagine us getting a DLC to resolve his cliffhanger and set up the next game - which would be dealing with all the demi-god sized hell he let loose in the south. Not to mention the Forgotten Ones who will be clawing their way out of the abyss and running amok who knows where. Probably the north, if you buy into the theory that the Tevinter's Old Gods are the Forgotten Ones.

Would it be alright if I sent you my first chapter once I think it is actually decent enough to be viewed by anyone else, lol? I personally like the softer Solas/Fen'Harel as well. I don't mind a few moments of dominance or want...but...yeah....

Sure, I'd read it. And don't be afraid to include passion and such if you're writing smut...the problem I have with fics is when Solas is portrayed as cruel, aggressive, violent, animalistic, possessive, rape-y, or dominating in a dom/sub sense. (I'm sorry for my bitching that's such a long list.) Passion on the level of the Fade kiss translated to intimacy doesn't bother me and probably not most people. I can't speak for everyone.

I hope it does. I'd almost think it has to, unless they're saving that for the next game.

Ack, I just watched that person's video of turning Cole out from the Inquisition... you'd have to be a monster.

Oh I know it was just still a funny moment where she sounded a bit odd!

I can't say too much or I would end up spoiling my story, but I will say that there is a change that you can see in Fen'Harel as my story progresses.

I wonder if the difference in that conversation between male and female Lavellan is depending upon approval and romance.  I bet the male Lavellan is on the disapproval path.  If not, the romance might have softened Solas' perspective a bit.

edit: Oh wait it was human female?  Haha nvm

I wonder if the delivery of that line feeling so out of place was on purpose to tip you off that there was definitely something wrong with your memory of what happened.

Oh trust me I include passion into my story...just not in the ways most people do. I typically have love scenes that are extremely passionate, but not in the form of smut. So just like kissing, perhaps caressing/touching. I only really write smut if that is what my readers want. I don't think a story needs smut to show how close characters are or how passionate they are for one another, in my mind it actually weakens the overall feeling of the story.

Has it ever been specified on how much the Dalish know? I was only going off what other people said, that they don't know most of it since it was lost. But maybe they just don't use it around outsiders much. We've had few opportunities to see the Dalish just being Dalish with other Dalish.

I have no idea tbh. Everything else Alix ever voiced was extremely well done in my opinion. I love the way she sounds whenever it comes to sarcastic lines or even flirty/seductive lines. The American voice is great for aggressive lines, but I typically have kind, sarcastic, or stoic characters. So her voice isn't really my cup of tea.

That's true enough. I've read a lot of good stories that were derailed by smut interrupts where a passionate kiss and fade to black would have been a better fit.

So this is kind of interesting, someone on tumblr put up Solas responding to a Dalish inquisitor he didn't much like:

http://tehnazzy.tumb...olas-when-youre

He talks about being tired of fighting. So there's my heart broken again.

solas' laugh at the end made me forget what the whole video was about.
