Oh, Creators, hold me.  :crying:

Embrace-l.jpg

It'll all be over soon. Except the pain and longing. That'll stick with you. For a long time, probably. It might even invade your dreams. And interfere with normal social interaction and perhaps even official duties if you let it.

Question for everyone:

If Solas had told her the truth, about why he couldn't stay, couldn't be with her....what would your Lavellan do?

Politically?  Romance/emotionally?  Would she tell other? Keep the secret?  I'm curious what people think.

Mine would understand, but move forward.  She would seek to restore Elven society, or at least dispel some of the myths and inaccuracies held by the dalish, and she would be open to learning and working with Solas in the future.....but she would understand their romance was over (except for the occasional fade romp perhaps)

I don't think she would tell anyone else...yet...maybe Varric.  I don't think she would love another either.

As others have said, it is hard to know when we don't know exactly what he is planning to do and what that will mean.  If what he is planning is going to save the elven people in the long run, she's going to support him, whatever the cost.

She'd be blown away by the knowledge of who is actually is, but after a long walk to let it sink in she'd be able to accept it, and like it too.

Edit: She'd tell nobody, it is not her secret to tell

Since its come up several responses, for my headcannon the relationship between them just complicates things too much.  He has to focus on these big world shattering events, and she has quite a bit of power herself and has to wield it as best as she can to help her people.

To be in a relationship, you have to focus on the other to a large degree. With Solas going of to do.....whatever it is he will do....He can't afford to divert focus and emotion on her...and more importantly his plans (in my head) will end with either self sacrifice or going back to sleep, both of which leave Lavellan alone.

In short, Solas doesn't believe he can be there for her long term, so he has to end it to protect her....he can't commit with a clear conscience.

I think it's a good that he kept the truth to himself , not because he thinks that Lavellan can't handle it, would do something irrational, but because it's something that must stay hidden. Solas strikes me as someone that very much appreciates subtle actions. It's also how operates , it's in his magic too. He's never in your face, never flashy. It matter little that his real name is Fen'Harel, otherwise known as the Dread Wolf, what matters most is where he would go, what would he do. I suspect he fears confusion , mixing myth with reality. He is a man on a mission, and some information must be kept secret fot the sake of that mission.

I don't disagree, I was just curious

I like seeing comics/pictures about Sassy Laves.

Makes me wonder how Solas reacts to them.  : P

My Lavellan would of course, be initially shocked.

But she is very cynical of the Dalish, and being part of a clan like Lavellan doesn't help her detachment from them either. Through the course of the game, she slowly let go until at the final romance scene, she was eager to get her vallaslin taken away; albeit a bit hesitant at first only because she had lived with them for so long. She will feel it though, if she ever goes back to her clan (they're still alive) and is viewed as an outcast because she discarded her vallaslin. She'll learn and grow, she's pretty young!

I veered off track on that but anyway, she wouldn't really mind. She'd be fascinated to learn more about him and see the contrast between the Dalish tales and who he really is. She would also be a bit less soft edged and willing to argue, to learn. It wouldn't affect their relationship unless he were to do something pretty bad. She'd try to help him come up with solutions or better means of achieving things. Even if he were to do something wrong - which she'd surely acknowledge - she'd still love him and be by his side regardless. (If Hawke can do this with a romanced Anders, so can she with Solas!) If she sees that he veers off from his path of trying to restore order and down into a more sinister path, she'd try to stop him because she cares.

I don't think it's necessary that it remain hidden from her. I think he couldn't tell her because of his trust issues, and because no other elf has even tried to understand what he's doing (except maybe Felassan) or been open to his perspective. She got the closest to doing so and that's why he was about to spill everything, but that would make the consequences even greater if she reacted badly. Not just losing her, since he breaks it off, but she might refuse his help wtih Corypheus and turn the Inquisition against him.

Based on when story DLC was released for Origins/DA2/Mass Effect 2 & 3, I'm guessing 3-4 months out from release for anything with a substantial story to it. We already know that the first DLC is going to be Xbox-exclusive for some period of time, but not what it'll be. (If it continues the storyline and is locked to Xbox only for a month like Skyrim's DLC, I will be SO PISSED. Friggin' console deals argh. )

Xbox exclusive?

Where was that written?

Omg if it has story I'll weep, and then throw some eggs at BioWare offices (in my head :()

Anyhow,

3-4 months? That's a timespan I can live with, especially since it's been a month and a half already.

Probably like he reacts when Lavellan accuses him of bringing Fade tongue into the mix.

"I did no such thing!" In a somewhat indignant tone...

I doubt they'd withhold multiplayer DLC for a month. :[ So it most likely will be story DLC.

I keep forgetting about that, and I die a little inside whenever I remember.

Everybody's writing on how Lavellan would comment finding out Solas is Fen'Harel.

I refuse to take this seriously (because feels) so I'd just say I imagine her throwing lots of wolf puns.

Edit:

Also entirely plausible:

"Well, ****"

Lords and ladies, I return. With the requested sketches! Again, if someone DOES want to make a mod out of this, just let me know. I'd be more than willing to work with you.

*snip*

I'm not too sure about the bottom-most one that has a more dress-like appearance with the see-through-silk-chiffon dress layer. Totally open to suggestions!

See this post! I did it just for you.

Aaaaa it's so pretty!! \o/ Thanks for the draw up! It's hard to say how doable the see-through parts are without knowing how the engine handles transparency, but if anything the parts close to the body can be faked. Like I said I have zero actual modding experience and by the looks of it, it's not possible to get models into the game yet, but I'm gonna see if I can get my hands on the female elf body to give this a shot ahahah.

You and me both. I wouldn't get an Xbox even if they were giving them away. Stuff like this is horrible customer relations and I wish developers would throw Microsoft's money back in their faces and tell them to make their own games if they want exclusives.

Like with Skyrim, by the time the rest of us get the DLC, everything in it will be old news. I think it also hurts DLC sales because if there are problems then it gives bad word of mouth even if they're fixed by the time the other versions come out.

Reminder about DLC: Microsoft's big announcement at E3 was that the first single player DLC for DAI would be a timed exclusive for XBox One only.

All the rest of us will have to wait, unfortunately.

Well that's the modern view of relationships. People in my grandparent's generation can be apart for a decade and still be together in the end.

My Lavellan would be much less shocked than she probably should be. A lot of pieces about Solas would fall into place and throughout her whole crazy journey as Inquisitor, she's learned to just accept what would have seemed crazy to her before.

Also, Inquisition was an adventure in finding out her people were wrong about nearly everything so it's not really so surprising that they'd be wrong about the Dread Wolf too. She knows and loves Solas and is an idealist so her first reaction would be "well we must have just been completely wrong about Fen'Harel because he's Solas and Solas is.....good? Yes, good. Completely good. He has to be good........Please, please, please be good...."

She's an optimist and doesn't like to think of the worst possibilities. Having to fight/kill Solas would destroy her.

Its more about he'll be gone and she'll be left alone..and he won't be back, if he comes back at all, until long after she's dead...soo that applies to any generation

Yeah, I really try not to go all "PC MASTER RACE" on these subjects, especially since I do also play console games, but so far I've been kind of disappointed with Bioware's support for PC gamers with Inquisition. Unlike Mass Effect, the series wasn't originally conceived and announced as a console exclusive, so with all these interface goofs (those tactical view controls... really?) and now console-exclusive deals, I can't help but feel that fans who have been playing on PC since the beginning are getting burned left and right.

I can only imagine what Microsoft pays for the exclusivity rights then. :[ It must be at least financially worth committing to it.
