I like to imagine it was just absorbed and adapted to a new culture. Like roman gods and greek gods.
I think that's the general idea, the old Tevinters seem to lift a great deal of their culture from the ancient elves. But the Old Gods and the Creators exist, regardless of what the Tevinters thought they were. There's evidence, certainly a lot at this point to a connection between the Old Gods and the Creators. But there's also lore that can point towards the possibility of the Old Gods being the Forgotten Ones. And if we can trust any of the revised lore on the Creators, it would suggest that the Forgotten Ones existed, and they had some association with the underground and the Blight, similar to the Old Gods.

Whelp, I screwed that up. ¬_¬ (For my part, I was going off this, which is probably where a lot of folks take it from.)
Welcome to the thread! ![]()
To be fair, didn't a romanced Merrill in DA2 also call Hawke "ma vhenan"? I always thought the subtitles on Solas' second romance scene just placed the comma in the wrong place, but what do I know? ![]()

Hello all.
Did my first play-through while avoiding 99% of spoilers, avoided all spoilers about Solas, my character went for him... and now I am here. Though I doubt I'll be here often enough to keep up with the thread at all. XD
WTB Egg Hunt DLC. The lack of resolution is killing me, and the fact that bioware is bioware and thus we may not even get resolution is the worst. If I could have faith that something will come of Lavellan and Solas, I wouldn't be flailing my arms around quite so much. I'd even be content with... well, like Witch Hunt. Let my Lavellan who romanced him wander off into parts unknown with him in the end. I'm down with that! But... bioware. :|
Welcome!!! I'm glad you posted! The more of us who come out of the woodwork, the better!! Bioware has to listen to us! Right?!

Well obviously: http://dragonage.wik...tion:_Tenebrium
Lusacan (night) - Falon'Din
Besides that..
Razikale (mystery) - Dirthamen? His constellation is 'Eluvia' though, which means sacrifice, which also fits Andruil.
Zazikel (chaos) - Elgar'nan?
Urthemiel (beauty) - Sylaise or June (god of beauty)
Toth (fire) - Sylaise?? The only thing suggesting that is that Sylaise gave the elves fire.
Andoral (slavery, unity, chains) - Andruil (that stupid name similarity XD).
And since Ghilan'nain wasn't a real god she doesn't have.. a dragon.. form? Or perhaps since she was turned to a halla?
And edit:
Some Elvhen gods have their own constellation, but they don't sit well with their hidden nature (which we discover through Solas)
Fervenial (Andruil), Solium (Elgar'nan), Equinor (Ghilan'nain).
The part about Draconis representing an unknown eighth god is very interesting though.

Yes, a romanced Merrill does call Hawke this. I didn't know until a week ago or so, when my boyfriend finally played through DAII and he romanced Merrill. I heard her say it, and I was like "WAIT WHAT DID SHE SAY?" and my boyfriend was like "Yeah," and I was like "I MISS SOLAS UGHHH" and then I made another elf mage to do it all over again.
I have tried now to romance both Cullen and Blackwall. Blackwall's first bedroom scene is nice, and I like the relationship he has with my Cadash. Unfortunately, there is just no comparison. So far, these two romances just feel hollow to me.
HOW DO I GET OVER HIM?
P.S. are we gonna hit 2K this week ??

The only part I can't quite fit...how does Mythal's betrayal fit into all of this? And where does the fall of the elven empire fit? Do we know if Arlathan and Tevintar ever existed concurrently?
IE; The elven gods might have been also advising humans, and the betrayal would have been what first blighted Dumat?
Unless Mythal is killed, the elven empire falls, Fen'Harel seals away the gods, but the gods [including Mythal] live on in dragons who then advise Tevintar?

Hello all.
Welcome to the thread!
Solas uses 'vhenan' and Merrill used 'ma vhenan.' So I see three possibilities: One, it's a quirk of Solas's speech, or it was more common a couple thousand years ago to leave off the possessive 'ma.' Two, the Dalish got it wrong. And three, the devs changed their minds. I wouldn't worry too much about it either way. ![]()

Everyone is hoping for some kind of closure at least. I think BioWare will give us that much.

Wasn't it Tevinter that supposedly sank Arlathan? Or am I mixing up my lore?

Yep, via blood magic I believe. It sounds like Tevinter came in, took what they wanted [including slaves], and then sunk it so that no one else could recover anything.
Edit: Although if we believe the red lyrium theory, they may have sunk it to stop the spread.

Maybe it works like "darling", where you could address someone as "darling" or "my darling" and both would be correct.

Arlathan and Tevinter existed at the same time. But it's been implied that the Elven Gods were all locked away long before Arlathan fell. I think it's pretty clear at this point that whoever betrayed Mythal was among the elves, and I suspect one of the other Creators. (Elgar'nan, I'm looking at you.) Tevinter might have dealt the final blow to Arlathan, but whatever brought the elves down low to begin with was conflict between the elves themselves, as Abelas says.

The rules they have in place for the elvish are pretty fast and loose. ;} I'd have to check my stored books, BUT

Yeah, I definitely agree with this. I'm just not sure how it fits if Mythal is also Dumat. /ponderr

Well, I was thinking about this the other day (which old god could be each eleven god), and I have a doubt, because I don't know much about lore, so maybe someone here can help me with it ![]()
assuming old gods=elven gods, and having already five of them killed in blights, it means there's only two elven gods left, right? I mean, they should be dead, no? or are they supposed to have survived in any way?
And if only those two still live, mistery and night, don't they seem likely to be, as you say Falon'Din=night and I'd say too Dirthamen=mistery?
Couldn't it be a that a huge battle between Solas and those two it's what it's coming? I mean it could be Falond'Din the one who Felassan was helping, maybe he's trying to find a way out of his prison, and mabe he finds it in future DLCs or games...
I'm no good at speculation theories, it's only that I like this scenario because in it Solas is going to be clearly the good guy, so t's probably whishfull thinking
(I'm really worried they turn the Solas into a villain who dies watching all of his plans failing
)

It's surrounded by elven skeletons. Execution for guilty verdict + Mythal representing justice?
