I can't get this out of my mind today:

Here lies the abyss, the well of all souls.
From these emerald waters doth life begin anew.
Come to me, child, and I shall embrace you.
In my arms lies Eternity.

-Andraste 14:11[3]

From the Chant of Light. To me this screams Well of Souls/Well of Sorrows parallels. The Wiki says, "Abelas reveals that every servant of Mythal near the end of their life would pass their knowledge on through the Well of Sorrows, thus it contains all the collective knowledge and way of life of the ancient elves."

Abyss, well of souls -- Death and well of knowledge

Emerald waters -- well of sorrows did have some green magics going on

I shall embrace you -- you are part of me now? you are bound and have to do my bidding?

So my Lavellan seemingly wear the markings of June. Already starting to speculate over possible reasons for why she would choose to honor that god, instead of Mythal, Dirthamen or Elgar'nan considering she was the keeper's first.

Here's a better picture of Mythals mosaic at the Temple of sacred ashes

Finalbattlemythal.png

http://dragonage.wik...does_it_happen?

It looks like those stones were purposely put there to cover it?

Maybe it was originally an elven Temple too or something?

You know, it makes a lot more sense now why Corypheus chose the conclave to do whatever he was doing with the orb. Originally I thought he was just out to mess things up more with the templar/mage war and just wreck havoc on the world in general, but now I'm inclined to believe it was because of those mosaic things, whatever they are.

The Temple of Sacred Ashes had to have been built on top on an elven landmark of great significance, or the temple itself could be an elven landmark of great significance.

I am under the impression that every Creator has/had a Well.

If Andraste is the "bride of the Maker" and the Maker is Elgar'nan (sun symbol and all), well, maybe the Chant is nothing but propaganda for his slaves?

This is what Fen'Harel vallaslin looks like:

DragonAgeInquisition2014-12-0617-30-04-9

Get it, because there is... no... vallaslin...

...I should go.

Haha, yeah I remember a thought I had a while back "What if Fen'Harel's Vallaslin is..no Vallaslin?  He has an army!"

I noticed that, too. There's even more under there, covered by the stones. Makes me wonder if the location was something similar to Skyhold (ancient elven holy site) and what the significance of it is, considering both are up in the mountains and fairly close together.

Oo

I never noticed that in game.

So yeah I guess it was build on top of an elven temple.

Now my mind is going to go places...

Imagine the first followers finding a temple of a goddess shown as a dragon.

Might explain why they ended up worshipping dragons too.

I have trouble with this too. I can't possibly imagine what can Solas do that he's going to be alone forever and Lavellan can't be any part of it but she still is going to know when the time comes (or so one should think considering in one of his answer in the break-up scene he says "you'll see").

Usually the character in question would be simply facing dead and trying to protect his/her lover, but he's inmortal and Lavellan could have died in the battle againts Corypheus, so why would he be so protective all of a sudden?

I honestly have no idea what the writters have in mind (thouhg I'm not terribly imaginative, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised  ) All I can think is that he knows that if he tells you (you, or anyone else) you'd probable go "WTF?!" so he's afraid you'll try to stop him (and I guess he is afraid that you will succeed in stopping him, of course, or worse, that he will have to kill you).

Everything I can think about this keeps pointing to Solas becoming a villain  :pinched:

You make me think

Seriously, how bad would it have been to give it 80 years, see what he can achieve with Lavellan, and than unleash plan B. Its not like he wont be around forever and time with Lavellan could be a fleeting chance for him to live something good and see how she helps the elves in her own way.

Sometimes Solas is infuriating. Its that blend of wisdom and impulsiveness, you never know what to expect from him >.<

Solas spoke very little about WHY he loves Lavellan. So in your opinion, what does he love about Lavellan?

I just need to stop for a minute because today has been AWESOME with the thories- I'm sorry I"m missing out of chat time but I hate to risk it at work- but can we all just take a minute to let it sink in that our fictional boyfriend is an ancient, powerful, god-like being who has been around for a thousand plus years and basically has this whole history and life that we know absolutely nothing about- think about everything he has seen, done, lived....it's kind of overwhelming, no?

And this guy wants to bang OUR Lavellan. :)

Also, here, have some more pretties. I went on a bit of a screenshot kick yesterday...

I like having Fen'Harel and stag statues together like that, considering Lavellan's codex card is a stag.  <3

temple_of_mythal.jpg

I also really liked that the "officially marked" Statue of Fen'Harel is right where the sunlight hits it. He looks so happy and peaceful in that spot...

fen_harel_statue.jpg

Incidentally enough, his statue is marked in a nice, warm gold on the map once you've discovered it...

His mosaic:

And just general hotness accidentally grabbed while trying to catch my vallaslin-less face, LOL.

Well, if the Temple of sacred ashes was originally elven/is build on top of an elven Temple, maybe that's where Solas was sleeping?

I mean he must have been close by

He talks about her spirit with every Lavellan regardless of personality or class, so that's probably the unifying factor.  Something about her spirit is special to him; whether she's objectively different from the rest of Thedas is up for debate.

For my Lavellan specifically, I think Solas is an absolute sucker for kindness along with thoughtfulness and wisdom, and my Lavellan is just the sweetest PC I've ever played.  Slow to anger, quick to forgive, always willing to extend a hand and help.  Someone like that is pretty rare in a place like Thedas.

It's hard not to feel special when our Lavellan, a mere mortal, caught the fancy of an ancient, powerful, godlike being.

(Probably the first since Andraste caught the eye of the Maker, if there is any truth to those stories.)

If the temple was a place of power, and Andraste's Ashes were stored there, was it the Ashes that were magical so they could cure Arl Eamon, or was it the place they were stored infusing the ashes through some kind of burned blood magic ritual or something?

Or was it because Andraste was possessed by Mythal, and so it was really the power of Mythal that saved Arl Eamon, and then is there still significance to them being in the Temple of Sacred Ashes....

OR....what about the Knight/Monk who allegedly brought the ashes there?  What if that story is false, and it was Solas, who knew Andraste was possessed by Mythal, who brough her ashes to a sacred place to rest?  Or was he asleep then, since he is supposed to have been a sleep for a long damn time...

And if you defiled the ashes does that mean you basically told Mythal to go F*** herself?

And did the ashes of Andraste have anything to do with how Mythal got into Flemeth?

and...or...and...or...and....or......

does not compute....

*brain breaks*

Hey guys,

Sorry I've been away, been extremely busy with work and social commitments over the festive period. I hope you all had a good festive season and that you're all well.

The OP has been updated just now (with things like the recent NA interview with PW and DragonRacer's latest artifact location masterpost). If there's anything else that's happened or been posted etc recently that you think should be included, please PM it to me and I'll sort it out - it'll be buried by now in the threat itself.

Thank you :)

It makes me wonder what's up with this stone tablet. This is the Statue of Fen'Harel in the Temple of Mythal. Check out the vallaslin-esque design:

fen_harel_symbol.jpg

That's what some people proposed were Fen'Harel's vallaslin on tumblr. Patrick said he didn't think Fen'Harel had vallasin but that he would check with the artist because "maybe yes then." I don't think he knows for sure. But someone on here pointed out that the thing on the tablet up there was also on doors in Valammar.

Well Lavellan is no slouch. She became what the somniari were, or something like it, by either accident or her own audacious perseverance- however you choose to see it. She took in the power of a god and not only didn't lose herself, she mastered it and turned it around on itself. And if Solas has approved of her, it means she's done all this without yet succumbing to the temptations of power and greed. She can do at will what it took the Tevinter magisters most of the lyrium in their kingdom and the blood of hundreds of slaves to accomplish. Since Solas is shocked at this, it must be something he didn't think his orb could do. That might be because it was supercharged by the sacrifice of the Divine? Something which is rarely mentioned in discussions of the mark.

I have a lot of questions about Solas, of course, but I hope the DLC also answers some questions about who or what the Inquisitor is.
