Well anyway, I feel like Bioware is digging themselves into a hole with the romances. We can all pretend the romances are not the most important aspects of Dragon Age games, but let's face it: it's the absolute biggest trademark of the franchise and one of the driving factors that the majority of people play it. 

 

They can still do what they want with romances

I really just don't like how they are revealing the romances I feel like it just makes everyone bitter and upset.. When half of the people on the forums are super excited that they get their romance of choice, yet there's a group of us (Solas/Varric/Blackwall/Vivi) fans who are sitting here chewing our fingernails off that we'll make the final cut. I just want to know so this thread (and others) can just get back to normal. Even if he isn't one, it's better than being in this flux.

I am a bit confused why IB not being gated lowers the chance that Solas is a romantic interest. They didn't say the remaining characters to be announced were the gated ones, did they?

As much as I want Vivienne as an LI (and thats for a female) I would gladly take a Solas and Varric.

We know next to nothing about Blackwall that would confirm or deny him as an LI, except that devs seem to think he reminds them of their dads.  Which might mean he's a big NO.  I don't think Bioware would have any problems having multiple warrior LIs, or older LIs, or dying LIs.  So he's possible.  But why would he be race-gated?  If he's an ex-chevalier, perhaps against elves?

 

Varric would make sense, but I would expect a bisexual and Varric is probably straight.  He would be race-gated against humans, and probably qunari.  He might be open to elves, and definitely to dwarves.  Downside:  Carth Syndrome.  Still hung up on his dead beloved.  Your Inquisitor will never, ever be his number one love interest.  The other iffy thing about it is that he would be gated against humans.  Most players are not like me, and will probably pick a human in their first playthrough.

 

Solas... Ah, Solas.  He is open-minded, which suggests he should be bisexual and open to anyone.  But if he were race gated, it may make sense to be gated against dwarves, who cannot dream, and qunari who may also not dream (even though they do have mages--but perhaps only qunari magi dream?  Or perhaps even they do not dream).

 

I'd guess that race-gated characters will be gated against two races, rather than just one, but no more than two.  But, we shall see.  I'm seriously expecting Varric.  But Solas is almost certainly bisexual, and Varric has always seemed straight (does not mean he is, see Anders in Awakening only flirting with lady-Warden despite being bisexual vs. Anders in DA2 being definitely bisexual).

Of course. I'll swallow my bitter pill just like I did in ME3 and enjoy the game otherwise. The only thing that pissed me off that the devs did in ME3 with Joker was the way they had him reject any romance with Shepard. If they don't pull something so silly this time, I'll be fine.

 

Can't say that I won't be exceedingly envious of those who got their LI of choice, but I'll be happy for them!

Yeah, it makes no sense.

 

Especially when they go on to wonder why people get frustrated/angry/start complaining, etc.

 

And then get sassy or snarky for added gravy. 

 

Personally, Dev sassiness amuses me to no end, but I know it can make others annoyed.

Ofc. we will mourn the loss os a romance with Solas. But most of us will go And congrat the others on getting their romance... then go back to Solas forum and join the cry circle. We will get over it. But the first hours will be.. sad. But that is if, if, IF he isn't a romance

I came to add my meager tears to the Solas thread, as it's feeling more likely he's out of the running for a LI.

 

I was hoping there'd be a mage romance option for the straight female Inquisitor, as a nice incentive to make her sympathetic toward mages. But this could be an opportunity to try a playthrough where the Inquisitor does not side with mages and is a bit harder on everyone as a whole.
