Also, you guys are super addicting. I should really be doing some work right now, but lolnope.

I could never pick that option. I always see the paraphrase, "You have friends?" and I'm like, nope, my inquisitor is his friend.  Also, his response just makes me want to hug him. :crying:

Solas is so sweet. I can't see him as someone who would kill anyone to get what he wants (according to Dev notes). I think he only took Flemeth's life because she was willing. I don't think he would have forced it if she wasn't.

Wow, you guys have some excellent theories! I'm going to throw one out there as well, because it seems safe here.  :)

A lot of people seem to think Solas will either release the elven gods that were sealed away, or else try to remove the Veil.

However, neither of those options seem like they would put him on a solitary path that he must walk forever, as he told Cole. Especially if he's doing anything involving the Fade, since Solas loves spirits and wouldn't really be alone if they are around.

Is it possible that his goal means locking himself away? Maybe he can't release whoever is in the mirror/eluvian without switching places with them? Being alone forever makes me think of being trapped in one of the 'in between' places Morrigan talked about in the crossroads. And if that's the case, it truly would be a fate worse than death that he wouldn't wish on his enemy right?

I don't know if he intends to lock himself away, but if he intends to release the elven gods, its a safe bet they would lock him away or enact some similar vengeance.

Flemeth has all this power, she could have easily fought him off, but she didn't.

I was sad, until I read her alternate ending.

The dev notes also seem to imply she's been preparing for this outcome since the beginning. Like this is just another part of her plans.

I wish there was a Solas taking care of Lavellan scene when she first got the mark. I also wish it was Solas who carried her back to camp and not Cullen. I heard the wolves howling near the end of that walking in the snow scene. I wonder if they're Solas' scouts.

If I could break my finger on the like-button click I would.

And by destination, I mean one that she would enjoy. As in, where Solas was.

Thank goodness for that vallaslin chart (finally). Turns out my Lavellan has the Mythal vallaslin all along. :)

EDIT: I just realized, doesn't having Mythal's vallaslin make it all the more worse that Lavellan asks Morrigan who Mythal is?

He does?! Aaah! I'm on PS3 and my companions NEVER say anything during or after battles, just grunts. D:

That's it, I'm saving for a PS4 and buying DA:I again...

*ahem* Some arts:

I love that last comic! I wish the inquisitor could have been all detective like about Solas through the game; they hardly ever gave you the option to question him like that. The few times you could, like after the ball in Orlais, he showed that he recovers very poorly when caught in a direct lie, which amused me greatly.

Solas is willing to kill to achieve his goals, though. That is his character, and Weekes even said that he is doing some possibly terrible things at what he thinks is for a good end. It's a part of his character that can't go ignored. Doesn't mean he is a "bad guy". He can be sweet as well, especially to the person he loved. The big point of Solas is a character that is full of moral contradictions and greys.

For a while now, I've felt that Corypheus was Solas's pawn, and in the bigger scheme of things, Solas is also Flemeth's. It makes me sad because he's probably not aware of it, and I hope everything turns okay for him.

Seeing some awesome theories in the thread that I'm REALLY liking. Still totally on the boat for the pantheon/old gods theory.

Has anyone who is particularly keen for finding out hidden stuff looked into West? Any locations that we currently know of that might give a clue or hint as to why Solas is going in that direction? And apparently lots of other people?

My little halla would totally search for little wolf if she got the chance. She wants that wolf back like yesterday!....also, she suspects she may wind up needing to save him from himself.

Oh wow. That's amazing. You get the heart of the story, but none of the details, like all the other elven legends we know. And that alternate ending, lol.

Yeah.

I don't have an alternative, but you've definitely put your finger on the bit that just doesn't sit right.

Team Despair:  the whole thing sounds horribly, terribly final in a way that's really hard to reconcile with our existing theories about his Big Plan.   Not the "you won't forgive me" of the possible veil-drop or god-release.  Not even final in "I expect doing this will take my life, and thus will never see you again."   It's more like he expects whatever he's about to do will -literally- eternally isolate him: as you theorized, possibly cutting him off from this world entirely.

Team Optimism: Screw in-game, going meta.  In order to complete a full character arc- whether villain or redemption, Solas has to show up again.

Right?  He has to.

...Right?

This, definitely. I don't know if Corypheus was Solas's pawn for very long- but, that was certainly his intention at the beginning when he allowed his orb to be passed to him.

The unfortunate thing about Solas is that anyone who knows his goals and is reasonably powerful can probably manipulate him fairly well. Solas has made this entire thing very personal, recklessly personal even. Whatever Solas thinks his plans are, I'm sure Flemeth/Mythal intends for him to do something else along the way. And if there's another god in the wing, it could be a very carefully orchestrated revenge trap.

Solas's main fault is pride, and despite taking that as a name, I don't think he's quite realized that he's still making the same mistakes over and over again.

As would mine, even if it's a bit of a Laurie and Dr. Manhattan situation.  I think she'd rather Solas be saner with her there even if it means exiling herself too.

I've been thinking about making an former city elf who lets Solas take away her vallaslin but knowing he only tells you they're slave markings because he's aborting on coming clean about the whole godhood thing is a real stumbling block for me.

I'm not being judgy about anyone else's choices it's just meta gaming getting in my way :(
