I had a weird thing happen where I told Leliana not to be Divine and she was Divine anyways. So much for my political power!

I know, right? Here we have a Revered Mother who is compassionate, gives sound advice, and stays with the Inquisition the entire game. She ought to be an easier pill to swallow than our other choices.

I found Mother Giselle to be so incredibly endearing.  She, in a way, reminded me of Wynne.  I loved Wynne, she was like my Warden's surrogate Mommy (since mine was brutally murdered... jerks.)  So when it came time for influencing the Divine choice, I was CONVINCED I had a bug where Giselle wasn't showing up on my War Table. *sigh* Then the interwebz told me differently.

You need to do a table mission to lock it in on your choice.

Interesting! I did not know that. I don't seem to have it. Leliana turned out not to be a bad choice, but I was expecting Vivienne. I'll have to look into that.

No way all that crazy temple shards puzzle everyone's was for a stupid pride demon who spawned from a random dick who had an ego.

My money is on Solas resting place.

Till proven insane by dlc.

Right, I will not mention stupid feathers in Assassin's Creed just for completionist's collection sake

I thought she was going to be a candidate for Divine as well! She would had been easily accepted, she was kind, caring, a progressive thinker...yet Bioware let that option just slip by.

I LOVED WYNNE TOO! My party was always Wynne, Leliana, and Alistair. I loved the banter between those three and how Wynne would tease Alistair about watching my Warden's hips...I still can't believe we will never see her again.

And don't remind me of Eleanor Cousland, lol! She was such a badass mother!

Vivi still became Divine for me and I did not do her support mission, Leliana's mission didn't even show up! I had her all the way back to being soft, and kind...wasted effort...

I ended up with hardened Leliana in my first playthrough.  NOT the best choice, IMHO.  Trying for Cass on this one (sided with the mages so I'll see if I have enough other decisions in her favor to pull it off - I did her war table mission).

I don't know if mother Giselle is political enough to be a candidate.  She did have some pull in the Chantry which is why we went to see her, but perhaps not enough to gain a consensus behind her.

I never did a war table mission in supporting the Divine either, I wanted to be "surprised" and wound up with Cassandra. *shrug*

Not as bad as hardened Leliana. I think the worst outcome for Divine would be hardened Leliana, and then it would come down to what sort of Chantry you support; a traditional*Vivi...even though she is a mage...* one or a progressive one*Cass*. I think a softened Leliana is probably the best outcome.

I officially have a problem. Saw this just while scrolling through my tumblr dash and SUDDENLY SOLAS. I feel like this egg is making Solas' tea face. Since I apparently cannot see an egg without seeing Solas well, I guess I've eaten my last egg.

Theory until proven wrong! Lol. ;) I mean, ya wanna kill a dick or a pride demon? Stick them with the pointy end, not an elaborate prison temple.

I could be so wrong. If I am. When dlc is released. I will make you Internet cookies in the shape of puppies.
I am humble in my crazy theories.

Watch me be the wrongest of the wrong. Lol

Briala drove me nuts, and there is no way my Lavellan would ally with the mages either; I actually did Therinfall Redoubt my first playthrough.  So the Divine decision pretty much has to be Cass in my game.  I honestly like that they did the Divine thing as an aggregate of a bunch of decisions rather than one, but it can be a bit frustrating.

I'm looking at either Vivienne (again) or Cassandra this time around.

In theory I like the idea of adding extra weight to our choices but in practice it's like the hardening/softening Leliana opportunities, what gives points where feels a bit arbitrary.

I think it's somewhat based on the choices you make, if you don't openly support a candidate. You can probably bump the chance to elect a certain person if you select the dialogue openly supporting them when talking about it, but otherwise somewhat random.

I got Vivienne the first time I played. That was surprising.

I think I have just decided that the entire Dragon Age Universe is a giant "Tale of Two Cities" reference (apologies to Dickens).  Characters sacrificing themselves for the greater good.  At least Solas didn't give the Inquisitor a copy of the book before he left (YUP, Star Trek reference).

I liked Mother Giselle, right up until she started getting snarky about Dorian.

...then I never talked to her again.  =w=

I have a feeling that Mythal is too weak to take on the final leg of whatever it is she has been cooking for the past couple of thousand years. Either a conflict against another elven god, or something else entirely. While still insanely powerful as Flemeth...it'll never quite be the same as being truly 'alive' and whole.

In that sense, I think she sees Fen'Harel as something of a weapon. She certainly has no desire to sacrifice Morrigan, who is dear to her. [And, would probably run into the same 'weaknesses' that Flemeth would, even if Morrigan is some sort of super baby.] Mythal ensures her knowledge survives with Morrigan, while Fen'Harel gets the power with the full knowledge that whatever he's doing is bringing him closer to her ends.

Now, it could also be that their plan is one in the same too. And I don't think Mythal is evil either. I think whoever/whatever she is orchestrating is probably a worthy cause. It just might get very messy. I also doubt she's cared to leave much of an exit strategy for Fen'Harel.

I don't consider either of them to be evil, but, yeah, she definitely has an agenda that is separate from his in at least some ways. We know that at least part of that is related to vengeance for her betrayal/murder, but we have no information about the rest of her goals. She does say that she was betrayed and the world was betrayed, so maybe whatever Fen'Harel is planning just happens to go along with getting Mythal access to whoever/whatever did the betraying. Also, I doubt she would have set up an exit strategy for him ahead of time, but she probably assumes that he can come up with one on his own. Whether or not that strategy will be a good one...well, his plans don't seem to work out so well. He may not even be planning an exit strategy. He is grim and fatalistic after all. <_<

There could be something there. In the NA interview, Weekes said that Leliana has a lot in common with Corypheus because they are both hardcore believers who then got burned. Corypheus mentions walking into the Golden City and seeing that it was black, and the seat of the Maker empty. In his madness he brought it upon himself to take the role of the Maker pretty much.

So, knowing this, maybe Corypheus believed that the sacrifice for what he was about to do had to be the holiest of the holy. And this is where poor Divine Justinia comes in.

I always figured Justinia was an abomination in the way that Wynne was, and that's why he wanted her for his blood sacrifice.  Spell misfires, orb goes boom, Justinia was vaporized, and the poor spirit is left in the Fade taking Justinia's form.  It sees the inquisitor so it helps them.

Oooh. Faith spirit Justinia. That's an interesting idea, though I'm not sure where it could have come from. Sometime between Leliana's Song and when she became Divine?

Could someone please line-up which Old Gods are lined up with the Elven Pantheon so far? I'm making a chart I plan to share because dear god can I not keep all this stuff straight. I want to see if some other things lines up and the wiki isn't being helpful.

Hi, Solassians. I've been cheerfully lurking in this thread since Solas was announced and finally got around to making an account. :D

I've been toying with the Old God=Elf God theory for awhile. Here's my own chart for reference.

OLD GODS:

Dumat, Dragon of Silence

Zazikel, Dragon of Chaos/Freedom

Toth, Dragon of Fire

Andoral, Dragon of Unity/Slaves

Urthemiel, Dragon of Beauty

Razikale, Dragon of Mystery

Lusacan, Dragon of Night.

ELVEN CREATORS:

Mythal, Goddess of Motherhood, Protector, Justice. Also Flemeth.

Fen'Harel. The Dread Wolf. God of Rebellion/Trickery. Hints toward being a guardian god of some kind. Also Messere Egghead.

Elgar'nan. The All-Father. Son of the Sun. God of Vengeance.

Falon'din. God of Death, Friend to the Dead. Actually kind of a dick. Twin souled with Dirthamen.

Dirthamen. God of Secrets. Twin souled with Falon'din.

Andruil. Goddess of Hunting and Sacrifice. Hunted her own people and creatures in the Void, came back sick and mad. Possibly tainted.

Sylaise. Goddess of Fire, Hearthkeeping. Sister to Andruil.

June. God of Crafts. Created himself.

Ghilan'nain. Goddess of Halla, Navigation. Mother of Many Monsters. Killed most of them for Andruil in return for apotheosis.

FORGOTTEN ONES: (Possible Connection to the Four Forbidden Ones of Xebenbeck, Gaxkang, Imshael, and the Formless One? Is Solas the Formless One?! Am I drunk?)

Anaris

Geldauran

Daern'thal.

CADDIUS'S ZANY THEORY:

Dumat: Elgar'nan?/Mythal?

Zazikel: Ghilan'nain?

Toth: Sylaise.

Andoral: Andruil.

Urthemiel: June.

Razikale: Dirthamen.

Lusacan: Falon'din.

The Tenebrium constellation notes the connection between Lusacan and Falon'din. As does the Temple of Mythal's creepy-ass 'Song to Falon'din'. Falon'din is noted to be associated with night, black, the dead, and wings.

Razikale is the Dragon of Mystery and is next to Lusacan in the pantheon. Dirthamen is twin-souled with Falon'din, and is all about mystery and secrets. Another forumite suggested a dual-blight if this holds true.  :o

The Silentir constellation notes a possible connection between Mythal and Dumat. This could be incorrect, or it could tie into the Andraste=Dumat/Mythal Old God Baby theory. If it's not Mythal, I'd wager Elgar'nan. Elgar'nan is co-leader with Mythal, who is still active. Dumat's plan for the Magisters to enter the Golden City is typically thought of as a revenge plot against the Maker, and Dumat is generally considered the biggest, maddest, and baddest mofo amongst the Archdemons. Just look how ugly the First Blight was in comparison to Urthemiel's, or even Andoral's. :D

Sylaise's Song in the Temple is all about fire and being badass. Toth had one of the longest Blights, and considering the Grey Wardens were there from the start, I'd dare to say she did a better job than even Dumat.

June is the god of crafts. Artisans. Beauty. I'd also venture that the Architect was the pseudonym of June/Urthemiel's High Priest that entered the Black City at Corypheus's side.

Zazikel and Ghilan'nain are looser associations. Really, Fen'harel would fit better. But he seems okay. :) But maybe it's about how she was one of the younger goddesses, risen from the ranks of the mortals? Or how she created chaos with her mad science experiments and making me restart everytime I accidentally incinerate a halla in the Exalted Plains? :P

Andoral and Andruil are a loose connection, if that. Sacrificing slaves? Maybe she was the life of the party?
