You Varricmancers are lovely!
It makes me sad that no matter who makes the cut, a big group of people will be disappointed.
If neither of us get lucky we should just merge the two threads and have a huge cry/hugfest...

I'm all over that idea.
And this is precisely what I feared would happen... pages on pages of sorrow, and we don't even officially know anything yet.
It was inevitable but there was nothing to be done to hold back the tide of Solas excitement ![]()
If the final two are either viv & varric or viv and blackwall on the surface it seems that the choices are pretty unbalanced for female PCs, I know varric's a rogue, but he's kind of burly too.
I do wish varric, vivienne and blackwall fans well though - I just want everyone to be happy (including me)
If Solas isn't a romance the people in this thread will still be courteous to Bioware and the fans of romanceable characters, right?
Just a precaution, things might get messy otherwise.

I don't see why not, there's hardly a reason to go around being toxic to others if our perfect scenario doesn't come to pass.
Well, even if we do by some miracle still get to have Solas, I will feel bad for the Blackwall and Varric fans--what with the "soon" for Blackwall and the apparent evidence pointing straight at Varric now.
I'll be happy for them if either Varric or Blackwall fans get their wish, but I personally will be sorely disappointed for myself. I want Solas--he's new, I like his personality, and I like his fans. If I have to go be a fan of someone else what if they aren't as friendly there? ![]()
Edited: I meant Varric up above. Not Solas. Solas on the brain apparently.
I'm all over that idea.
Out of likes *sigh*
I won't be angry about not getting the romance I want
The thing that makes me angry is this stupid waiting...
I know that it's gonna be the way it's gonna be
But I can't help hoping until the end, so I wish they'd just get it over with ![]()

That's not even a question, we're the hippies of the BW forums, remember? Our weapons of choice are love and hugs! You better believe we'll still be good to others even if we don't get Solas

Wha...what about us? ![]()

Seriously, nobody wants to see what this thread will become if he isn't a LI. We'll be all crying and group hugs and flowers and "feel better cakes" being given around. Plus at least half of us will express how happy we are that others got what they wanted and overall it'll be a ton of mushy disgustingness and we'll lose all of our followers ![]()
Wha...what about us?
We Varric fans are pretty great. We'll even take out a plate of cookies for you and put up a welcome banner. ;D
This is what I don't understaaaaaaand! I swear none of the other threads have been on the same rollercoaster ride of emotions as we have. It's like we keep having it dangled in front of our faces and then whipped away again
EDIT: i know the Cullenites and Varricmancers have had it bad for ages, but....*whimper*
i agree and I'm getting pretty fed up with it....
I know it doesn't mean he isn't an LI there is still a chance I'm just getting tired of this crap.
And yes I will still come around this thread even if he isn't an Li...I just want to know now if he is or not this is crazy. ![]()
No matter what, he sounds like a great character you guys. Lets hold onto that.
Well, I vote that if he's not an LI, when the game comes out we all stick him in our party and take screenshots of that Solass, and post them here. And I totally feel bad for the BioWare devs and forum mods if we do that... but hey. We WILL have that Solass, one way or another.

Honestly, you guys are the kindest people I've came across on the forums.

Ya'll are cuties.
Yeah, I don't really think that "anyone has it worse", I feel like we're all in the same boat in that regard.
Also remember that the lesbian Cassandra fans and gay Cullen fans have had a hard time too :/ Basically everyone has had it rough. *hugs everyone*
We know next to nothing about Blackwall that would confirm or deny him as an LI, except that devs seem to think he reminds them of their dads. Which might mean he's a big NO. I don't think Bioware would have any problems having multiple warrior LIs, or older LIs, or dying LIs. So he's possible. But why would he be race-gated? If he's an ex-chevalier, perhaps against elves?
Varric would make sense, but I would expect a bisexual and Varric is probably straight. He would be race-gated against humans, and probably qunari. He might be open to elves, and definitely to dwarves. Downside: Carth Syndrome. Still hung up on his dead beloved. Your Inquisitor will never, ever be his number one love interest. The other iffy thing about it is that he would be gated against humans. Most players are not like me, and will probably pick a human in their first playthrough.
Solas... Ah, Solas. He is open-minded, which suggests he should be bisexual and open to anyone. But if he were race gated, it may make sense to be gated against dwarves, who cannot dream, and qunari who may also not dream (even though they do have mages--but perhaps only qunari magi dream? Or perhaps even they do not dream).
I'd guess that race-gated characters will be gated against two races, rather than just one, but no more than two. But, we shall see. I'm seriously expecting Varric. But Solas is almost certainly bisexual, and Varric has always seemed straight (does not mean he is, see Anders in Awakening only flirting with lady-Warden despite being bisexual vs. Anders in DA2 being definitely bisexual).
It's very possible that Solas would be race-gated towards dwarves. However, if I were the lovely fade expert elf and I was presented with a dwarf, who had no connection to the fade, turned out to have a fade mark I'd be interested. That's just my opinion, it's certainly likely he'd be a no-dwarf man if he was race-gated. ![]()

I hope so. It's not the fans' fault. That's really immature if someone gets mad at them.

Cullen fans have stuck it out like champs for YEARS. Cullen is a prime target for character bashing and his fans have gotten so much crap that they're basically numb to it now. I was SO happy for them when I heard he was a LI. I wish they could all have him, but such is such. Hopefully a good number of his fans are still happy and looking forward to him! Lesbian Cassandra fans were very common too, so I felt really bad to learn she was straight.
So yeah, I would say that none of us has had it worse. I really feel like the Solas fans have had quite a few ups and downs, though. A surprising amount. It's like some kind of really not fun roller coaster ride.
Regardless of the outcome, this will be me.

I look at Bioware romances in this way: I always tend to have my favourites and usually latch on to one for most playthroughs (and tend to get stuck there, haha), but I always try each romance, because I've been pleasently surprised by something I thought was unlikely for me.
I AM STILL HOPING THOUGH!

Also another point in Varric/Solas' favor, besides the fact that 4 out of 4 warriors would be romances...
We have VERY few non-human characters this time around, proportionally.
So many humans put me to sleep. I have a severely narcoleptic reaction to that much vanilla in one room. |D
We can hope that 6/8 romances won't be human, and it'll just be 5/8. Or if the last two options are dudes, which I doubt, but could be, and even 4/4 human/non-human split.

Umm, I think I'm pretty open minded irl but I'm straight, obviously I don't care about race of partners but I can't correlate race in DA as close to being the same as RL. I think I can confidently state that if there were different human species IRL, I'd probably just be sticking to the humans.
Solas doesn't like being seen as 'just an elf' but maybe, if he's proud of being an elf (like how it's been speculated here that he shaves his head to show he's elven loud and clear) he would prefer to procreate with another elf, and father elven babies... if elves don't stick together in that way they'd die out.
