Lavellan definitely comes across as a little bit smitten at first. You do start to get a bit more suspicious towards the end though. It seems to fit well, considering Lavellan is probably canonically the youngest of the Inquisitors. She has a ton of growing to do over the course of the game.

Not that that's the only way you could read it or anything- but, makes sense to me.

Solas art! (Placed under spoiler tag due to size)

Edited to add: Cullen, Lavellan, and Solas love triangle?

Woof

OMFG *Drool*

Ellana Lavellan (I like to use original names): * Drools watching the picture *

Cole: * Appears to Solas * The inquisitor thinks that you look very tempting in that portrait where you seem to be naked. She want's to grab your tight butt. *Dissapears *

Solas: * Goes to Lavellan. * tumblr_inline_nhibgv2oST1sqi330.gif

I think Weeke's said that is perhaps a bug ; P, you know considering you can wear her marking on your face.

Er, no no.  Sorry- I wasn't clear on the timeline.  Whenever I'm talking about Elves-as-a-race and God-kings of Arlathan squabbling over followers, the veil is definitely up.  Very much so.  Very definitely talking about the concerns of a mortal realm.   By all accounts, the pre-veil fade-world was equally shaped to fit the whim of every sentient entity that existed.  No need to build a society to address concerns like food or basic shelter in that kind of environment- never mind complex political systems like the Pantheon.   They weren't useful- and thus didn't appear- until much, much later.

That said, the distinction of Dirthamen retaining his fade-shadow in this post-veil world would have made him unique.  At that point, every other member of the pre-veil beings that became the elvish race had lost the connection to theirs.

Why?  I have no idea.  I don't think we're given any threads to pull on here.

OK I see now. Then the problem arises in part because you and I disagree on what was going on pre-Veil. Maybe? So if I'm understanding you properly your timeline is something like this:

  • Pre-Veil - Everything is basically the Fade, without the scarey bits. Everyone is equal, egalitarian because there is no scarcity and all can create what they need and/or are already whole
  • Veil is erected by __________, for the purpose of ______________.
  • The Veil sunders people from their spirit selves. They lose this connection, except for Dirthamen/Falon'Din. People revere him because he retains this, and is thus able to guide people through the Beyond after they perish, or while in Uthenara.
  • The rest of the elven pantheon arises, for various reasons, and divy up Thedas in mage-ruled city-states
  • Bad things happen, Mythal is murdered, and Solas does stuff to correct it that goes horribly wrong after he goes to take a nap.

Is that basically it? My interpretation was that the People (elves) and the Pantheon existed as a political system before the Veil, or at least before the Veil as we know it today.

Most people don't realize they're dreaming while they're dreaming.  And strange things can happen in a dream and it can seem perfectly normal.  A mage might recognize it better than most, but even an experienced mage might not always catch it.  Like Wynne in the Fade nightmare.

Ouch. I decided to finish my PT with my Lavellan.

"What we had was real..."

And that "he didn't even say goodbye.."

My heart broke all over again.

And the way she frowned while standing at the balcony...

(Somehow Cass got elected to be divine, even though I pushed Leliana >_>)

Ugh my hearttttt....

Want more content for her! Need. DLC.

(At least nobody left Skyhold, that's cool)

Yeah, part of the problem is ALL the elves look either 18 or weathered-sea-captain age. It's hard to get a good in-between in the CC.

I HC as her in her late twenties but with ridiculously great skin because - why not?  At the end, my human mage seemed to get something more was up and all my romanced Lavellan did was practically break down on the steps.  So even by the end of the game I still feel she's going to be kind of blindsided by what's to come.

I believe he was talking about the mark here. It's too bright to see the Inquisitor behind it.

That's kind of what I mean. She's more.. she has the mark, she was touched by the spirit of Justinia. She reached out to her in the fade with her left hand, the hand that now has the mark.

Yeah, they don't realize it until Solas asks them "where do you think we are?".
What bugged me was that only a few hours prior I did the time travel quest with Dorian and afterwards when I talked with Solas he asked if I was sure it wasn't just the Fade and I was like " Um, I'm a mage. I think I would realize if i t was the Fade Solas!" And he approves of that answer. Now skip ahead a few hours and here I am completely oblivious to the fact I'm there.

Yea the Haven scene super bothers me... I just don't understand how she could possibly not realize they weren't actually in Haven, it was the first thought which occurred to me considering she had literally just buried Haven in a bunch of rubble -_-

It was definitely weird. Especially for a mage Inquisitor. I can understand dwarf Inquisitors not realizing it (not something they're used to) and I can even understand non-mage Inquisitors (since it's somewhat dreamlike) but really mages? Really?
And you could say Lavellan was blinded by love, but what about everyone else!? Trevelyan, Adaar, I thought you better than this!

I actually thought I'd just triggered the scene at the wrong point and that there was some sort of mistake. Oh we're in Haven now? Well it's destroyed, but maybe this scene was supposed to happen before. Then that stopped making sense mid-way through and I realized about 20 seconds before Lavellan did.

But seriously, Lavellan is the worst Keeper. The Dread Wolf lured her into a Fade Dream and she didn't even notice. THE WORST.

The other thing in that scene that bothers me is that you're supposed to be able to see the Black City from everywhere in the Fade and it is totally not in that scene at all.

My Lavellan definitely turned out very young looking (early 20s) but I've seen some very pretty and mature Lavellans by other people.

I feel like my Lavellan could be anywhere between 18-30, but I don't know if anyone else agrees.

Okay, I've had some caffiene, so I feel reasonably able to tackle today's theory train.

1. Inky being more than they are. Is it destiny or circumstance that led her to being more? Lavellan specifically, he wants to know if she's different because of her circumstances, and maybe Cole suggests she is more but I think what fits best is a little of both. I dont think Lavellan is some kind of reincarnated spirit he's known in the past, but I do think she was born different. Open minded, strong, both physically and mentally, even somewhat emotionally, she comes by skills easily, learns fast, and is usually selfless. She was born with all the qualities she needed to be a hero and the mark delivered the circumstances she needed to become one.

2. Falon'Din and Dirthamen and Fen'Harel theory will need to wait until after lunch

Theory: The Fade is a Lie

Spoiler

Yes. Maybe? But what she says about Yavana isn't quite correct. She doesn't say that dragons ruled the skies before the Fade, her actual lines are:

"Where do you think it comes from? It sings of a time when dragons ruled the skies. A time before the Veil, before the mysteries were forgotten. Can you hear it?"

Lots of people talk about a time before the Veil, but I don't remember anyone talking about a time before the Fade.

If you don't take the romance route (I did that, for science) then after you wake up and go speak to him Solas makes it clear that you were dreaming when you spoke to him about himself.  Walking from Solas' study to Haven is just one of those things that happens in dreams.

Given as Solas was just hanging out in his study that means he was having a really boring dream.

I've seen some pretty good looking elf npcs, young and old. I came up with the conclusion that compared to them, Solas is pretty plain looking. Put down your tinted glasses, guys.

Since we're sharing our canons. I try to make my Lavellan look young enough that people would ask, "shouldn't you still be in school?". But really, I think you stay as the First for as long as the keeper doesn't want to retire. If you're a hunter though, you can be any abled age.

In my future human canon however, I want to roleplay as a sweet old aunt.
