Yeah, they don't realize it until Solas asks them "where do you think we are?".
What bugged me was that only a few hours prior I did the time travel quest with Dorian and afterwards when I talked with Solas he asked if I was sure it wasn't just the Fade and I was like " Um, I'm a mage. I think I would realize if i t was the Fade Solas!" And he approves of that answer. Now skip ahead a few hours and here I am completely oblivious to the fact I'm there. It was definitely weird. Especially for a mage Inquisitor. I can understand dwarf Inquisitors not realizing it (not something they're used to) and I can even understand non-mage Inquisitors (since it's somewhat dreamlike) but really mages? Really?
And you could say Lavellan was blinded by love, but what about everyone else!? Trevelyan, Adaar, I thought you better than this!

This bothers me too but I rationalize it that the experience is far more focused and real than she's experienced before. Solas says the same thing, and he's Mr. Fade. Her control over the Fade- a kind of somniari status- is showing IMO. But it's still new for her and Solas is helping shape the experience, so it throws her a bit.

Dat Fade Tongue, too.

I feel like my Lavellan could be anywhere between 18-30, but I don't know if anyone else agrees.

I think she looks anywhere from her early 20s to early 30s. Maybe a bit of a stretch with her still bring a teenager. But that's just my opinion, it's however you canon it.
She's nice looking though. She kind of reminds me of an actress but I can't think of who it is. :) I have the same vallaslin for my Lavellan!

I roleplay that my Lavellan is in her early 30s and was getting close to taking over as Keeper before the Conclave.

I love this expression. Considering what Leliana is saying to her, it's got a "muahaha" look.

It's interesting and useful to friendmance Solas just to get a clearer picture of his character.  A romanced Lavellan seems to not pick up some hints that Solas is not all that he seems or something is up.  You have more opportunity to probe him - it's not much different but there is a bit of a hint that a romanced Lavellan has some blinders on.

I imagined that my Lavellan knew Solas was hiding something. As a scout, she would be very observant but is also willing to let people keep their secrets for good or bad. There are a few different companions with secrets (such as Blackwall and Varric's Bianca), but my Lavellan kind of felt like that was their business and wouldn't press them for details.

Yeah, part of the problem is ALL the elves look either 18 or weathered-sea-captain age. It's hard to get a good in-between in the CC.

I HC as her in her late twenties but with ridiculously great skin because - why not?  At the end, my human mage seemed to get something more was up and all my romanced Lavellan did was practically break down on the steps.  So even by the end of the game I still feel she's going to be kind of blindsided by what's to come.

My HC is that mine is early- to mid- thirties even. To the point she is old enough her vallaslin has faded, wise enough to not take everything at face value, and maybe a wee bit jaded with the world, thinking nothing ever changes. My other DA heroines were younger & probably more naive, so it's a nice change with Inquisition to do someone older.

Well thank you! I feel like she should be about 25. Just mature enough to be mature enough for Solas :P

It's always on the tip of my tongue who I think she looks like, but I can never truly figure it out.

It'll never happen, but I'd love to see an epic Fade-shape battle between Solas and Lavellan. Inception-style bending buildings, creating fade-beasts, etc. I imagine that if they are together in the future their lover's spats could be amazing *_*

She makes good theories but have you checked this one

I have! That is Sashima_taco's video if I'm not mistaken. She has a lot of awesome theories!

The new video is here!

:D awesome!

Yes. Maybe? But what she says about Yavana isn't quite correct. She doesn't say that dragons ruled the skies before the Fade, her actual lines are:
"Where do you think it comes from? It sings of a time when dragons ruled the skies. A time before the Veil, before the mysteries were forgotten. Can you hear it?"

Lots of people talk about a time before the Veil, but I don't remember anyone talking about a time before the Fade.

It's an interesting theory, but I wouldn't say I'm 100% on board with it. I love listening to fan theories but I don't usually buy into them that much...that is until I'm proven wrong!

Yeah, everything works differently with that mark. I dunno, it's interesting, I bet if we had had that mark in Origins we could've skipped all the Fade shenanigans at the Circle. (Yes, I do still gripe about that quest *shudders*)
And...
He's Mr. Fademiser he's mister Beyond...he's-- okay sorry. I just watched that movie. It's in my head. I'll leave now.

Funny that you say that. I feel like you can't keep any secret with those owl statues around. Those owls, man.

I'm totally going to sidle up and cuddle to the theory that perhaps each of the members of the Elven pantheon were beyond just Elven but Elven+Spirit hybrids, perhaps even something more spirit than Elven. Their qualities seem too tied to the qualities/ names of the Spirits revealed to us so far for me to count it out.

The idea of Godhood losing its meaning amongst a group of people fighting for power to the point of sacrificing the lives of their own people to obtain more? That sounds like a damn good theory as to why Arlathan fell and why they sought to one-up each other and keep the majority of the Elvhen in slavery. It also helps support the concept of powerful Elvhen dreamer nobles capable of surviving without food or water being murdered while in Uthenera - perhaps they got too close to knowledge this group of Gods wished to keep hidden?

EDIT: And the hiding of said knowledge probably began in an innocent way - oh, the People can't be trusted with this. It's too dangerous. We'll give it to them when they're ready. But when the time finally came that people, like this dark shape shifter, could become like them, it was too threatening to the power they were accustomed to wielding. It frightened them.

So Highlander? Oh god, the end credits scene is like Highlander.

The headcannon I'm running for my male Lavellan makes it ever so slightly easier to excuse his ignorance of his history. But not for my Solasmancer, who was the Keeper's First. She was supposed to be a total bookworm  oh man. So much face/palming.

It's funny that you say that because I thought the same thing.  I have a feeling maybe that's where it will go. We will have to fight him. I have this feeling in my gut.  Like how can they logically explain a rogue/warrior being able to match his power...even a mage.  So we know she can open up rifts into the fade and go there. What if you learn how to control that more.  So many interesting possibilities.

I can imagine it now inception style. You could live many life-times together by being in a dream within a dream within a dream. Then you realize it isn't real then you aren't sure what is reality anymore. Then you try to jump off a building. But you forgot at skyhold, there is no fall damage. So that didn't prove anything.

Yes but isn't the Veil the one thing separating the Fade and the Real world? Like if you don't have the Veil then the Fade would become one with the real world. If this was the case then it could explain why ancient elves were all mages , and why they were able to perform amazing feets of magical use (like the floating castles). Mages could draw an amazing amount of power , they could shape reality if there was no Veil. This is what the elven "gods" did. They shaped reality.
It is why Solas feels so comfortable in the Fade and why he cares deeply for the spirits that inhabit the plane.
The Veil was created to cut off the "gods" from this kind of trumendess powers. or something else transpired that could be linked to Mythals murder.
I'm sure these events are all connected.
Ashe's theory about the connection between the Well of Sorrows and the darkspawn taint is very interesting indeed.

Wait Fen'Harel = Dirthamen and Falon'Din now?

Nah...I don't buy it.

I don't either.  :D

Also about Lady Insanitiy's theory I agree with her that the Elven gods are not gods just powerful mages and even though Solas is Fen'Harel he is not a god but a powerful mage. Until Bioware shows us otherwise I will stick to that.  ;)

EDIT: Aaah top page here's a Solas pic.

This theory is interesting, but I'm not convinced either. The devnote called Fen'Harel [Mythal's] eldest friend, so I'll stick to that. And to the elven gods = powerful mages theory. At least until given enough evidence to believe otherwise.   :)

I feel like most of the theories are skating around the same idea though. I'm not sure I buy that the Fade is a construct per say, but I do feel like there's something else there. I wonder if it will be like the Maker, where they never really explain it. I think I'd prefer that over the ME route where they tried to say what the nature of the Reapers is/was. They didn't do a very good job with that and it was sort of disappointing.

The Veil is definitely going to be explained though. Well, it's more likely that the Veil will be explained xD It seems that the Veil is definitely some sort of constructed/conceptualized thing and not a law of the world. Or if it is now a law it was not before.

Re: Lavellan ages. I have no idea how old my Lavellan looks. IRL I am awful with ages and tend to just categorize people by Infant/Baby/Younger Than Me/Maybe My Age/Older Than Me/Senior x.X . It doesn't help that Lavellan can look completely different depending on the lighting... But I headcanon her around my age 20 - 24.

Not sure if everyone saw this, but in regards to yesterday's Twitter uproar at David Gaider and Patrick Weekes...

http://dgaider.tumbl...-me-to-say-this

I find it a reasonable response to both sides of the argument.

(tehe, @Rabbitonfire: ridin' the same wavelength, I dig it.)

EDIT TO ADD:  Also, check out this beautiful recolor of the jam-jams Quizzy is forced to wear!  Im still holding out for a white one, but that purple one is GORGEOUS.

I find it difficult to pick your words towards emotionally charged people. They really invest themselves into the romance.

Personally I'm really skeptical on players who don't expect drama in a bioware game. If you want a fluffy romance, play an otome- actually they always have that one mean character. never mind.

I have a really hard time keeping up with this thread because the free time I have to browse forums has been cut back significantly, but can I still be the lurker who occasionally posts things and shows that she has no clue what's going on?  Or should I just stick with 100% lurker status? :P  I might even have some Solas doodles to share soon :)

Edit: Reading this thread has become a little intimidating because I'm always 50 pages behind but I still need my Solas fix from time to time!
