Actually, Cory posing as a Grey Warden would explain Solas' hate for them even more...Since they failed to deal with him and such
Indeed. They also allowed themselves to be in such a predicament. Those who wanted to speak out didn't - Solas also doesn't like giving into desperation. He tries and tries until he succeeds (knowing his luck that doesn't happen often), so seeing the Grey Wardens give into despair and go the quick route is a huge no-no. The quick route is also paving the path for a demon army, unbeknownst to the Wardens of course, so Solas is pissed over their willful ignorance and trust in a stranger who showed up out of nowhere claiming they have the big answer.
I'm sure Solas has underlying reasons having to do with the Old Gods, but I think what I stated above is part of it.

Hmm, I've always viewed it as Solas allowing Corypheus to take the orb. Like, he didn't physically hand it to the guy, but didn't interfere when it was taken. Corypheus was having his people search old ruins, yes? Perhaps in one ruin he came across Fen'Harel's resting place and found the orb. Solas was nearby, but since he wasn't strong enough himself to use the orb, he allowed Corypheus to take it, thinking that there'd be no way he'd survive using it.
I dunno, perhaps it's the part of me that always wants to see the best in characters, but I don't see Solas sitting down to talk to Corypheus on a discussion on how he's going to use the orb and then giving it.

He's wearing a really pretty belt though..hehe.

I quite like you theory about Solas' "mistake". I hope we"ll get an explanation about it in an expansion/future games.

I'm probably way behind by the time I post this but I don't care. A chance to show off my Tiger Festival again for age appearances? I'm game, since I love her to pieces. She is absolutely my favorite character out of those I've ever made in the Dragon Age series. At least till next playthrough anyway.
For your (re)consideration:
Spoiler
I know this was a few pages ago, but
1) d'aww, she's pretty! The vallaslin you picked suit her face really well.
2) is that a mod armor or did I just completely fail to notice it in the game?

He's pretty flabbergasted that Cory is even still breathing if you talk to him about it, and clearly aghast that he's managed to use any of the power within the orb. To me, it sounds like he had very little idea of who Corpyheus was and what his powers were, and Corypheus was likely in a Warden body. Solas just saw a greedy mage who would die trying to unlock his orb. If it had been ANYONE other than Corypheus, he probably would've been right.
To paraphrase Dumbledore, Solas is rather cleverer than most men, and his mistakes are correspondingly huger.

I don't see it either, and I agree with you, I assumed it went something like this.
Wow. So many pages, and I read them all! My brain still hurts from all your amazing speculation, wish I could join you but I have so little time
I love reading all your theories though, I really do. That's what happens when awesome people play awesome games! ![]()

I used to think the same thing but that small exchange between him and Mythal is written a bit wrongly if that's the case..
She says "You should not have given your orb to Corypheus" and he answers that he was too weak to unlock it after his slumber.. If it was taken from him, he should have said " I was too weak to protect it after my slumber"
Of course phrasing it that way wouldn't have people speculating whether he is a baddy so it makes sense in a way ![]()

I don't think Solas himself handed Corypheus the orb, otherwise Corypheus probably would have used that to his advantage as a taunt. Most likely Solas just baited Corypheus into finding it, or delivered it as Fen'Harel.
Its possible that Corypheus stole the orb rather than had it given to him. But I think its much more likely that Solas made a mistake. That seems to be more fitting to his character.

We should just stuff him and Hawke into a room somewhere far away from anything important
They can commiserate over how everything they do seems to go horrifically wrong.

Fair enough.
We all read things differently. I still think the idea works with the dialogue, but others think otherwise.
On another note, I want to go back and replay my Lavellan again, and I'm not even finished with her complete playthrough. ;-; I'm right around the ToM quest and I'm missing the early days of flirting with Solas ;-;

No no. They can't be put in the same room together! That's how you get my apocalypse baby.
Actually, Hawke went west. Solas went west. Architect went west. Morrigan is planning to go west.
That's like the A team of people who shouldn't be trying to save the world.

Maybe Solas simply didn't stop Coryheus from acquiring the orb
I mean if Coryheus was planning this for a while, he must have been searching for it or something
It's not like Fen'Harel would just go to him like "Oh hey, you need my orb to do some shitty stuff? Okay take it ;)"
& I think in the interview Patrick phrased it as "Why did you let Corypheus get your orb"

YOU'RE A HORRIBLE PERSON!
...Okay. So I may have left Hawke there because I was curious to see if he'd manage to accidentally tear the Veil down by himself.
EDIT: Hawke doesn't go West, does he? If he doesn't get left behind in the Fade to have tea with Nightmare, he heads to the Anderfels, far in the north.
Based off where Solas is when he starts heading west, all it means is that he's not going into Ferelden again.
I'm really curious as to why the Warden went to the uncharted West to look up how to fix the Calling. Apparently they have mail service there?
What's this about the Architect and Morrigan heading west? Have I missed something?
I thought they both head for parts unknown.
