Last thing before going to bed: I played Here lies the abyss again today and brought Cole, Solas and Bull. I never took Bull there and he said something like: This must be a dream come true for yout crazy a**
To which Solas replied: "yes! Literally." in the most happy adorkable waywhat a nerd!
This also makes me think: if morrigan has the OGB we meet Flemeth in the fade, physically, right? I was wondering if Solas was telling the truth when he said he was never been there before. I think he was genuine, but if Flemeth can do it maybe he can too? Wasn't the orb his?
He never lies openly, but this... maybe I just need sleep and I'm missing something obvious atm.
That's one of the two things I always wondered if he's lying or not. Also, when Dorian says something like that that was the secnd time in history that somethin like that was accomplished, Solas remarks that it was the second time "in human history".
The other thing I always doubt if it's true is him never being in the temple of mythal before. I guess there could be lots of good explanations for that, but, I don't know, sounds wierd to me
Some things are just meant to end, and you happen to be the blade that brings it down. Doesn't mean it was wrong to do so, as Cole pointed out. Solas wasn't wrong to bring down the pantheon, especially after what we've heard and seen. He thinks bringing it back will make everything better.
Where is Aveline's "DON'T" sign when we need it?
When I see people jumping on a thought train, I tend to want to shake them so that they actually think about what they're agreeing to. Playing devil's advocate.
Kind of like what Solas does, right?
Yeah but Solas is a jerk sometimes and that blinds him to a lot of things. Which is his character flaw.
I really really like the theory of Sera being Amethyne.
There were ideas that Amethyne was the little girl behind the door in the Friends of Red Jenny quest during Origins but I don't remember that quest so I don't know.
Sera as Amethyne is probably one of the best theories. She's about the right age.
When you hand in the painted box in Origins you can hear a young girl laughing from behind the door.
I quite like the theory of Solas also being the Maker / Shartan:
In truth, I love all the theories around ^^ It's awesome to have finished a game, and yet, keep the world alive by wondering about it.
I made this and although I love my own theory, I don't think that Solas is the maker. I think that he was DEFINITELY involved in Andraste's life. But I have reason to believe that Dumat was the one who came to Andraste. And that Dumat being infected and killed was what woke Solas up. He wanted to look at the child with Dumat's soul for himself. And he ended up helping her free the slaves.
So Patrick Weekes had said in the NA interview in regards to the break up scene "...the part where he steps back and his face changes because he knows he has to break it off right there or he is going to..he is going to have betrayed himself...". I find his use of tense very interesting, as apposed to "will betray himself". I think the reason that Solas thinks that, is that he chickened out in telling you who he is and as someone who is such a staunch advocate of free thought, he felt like he couldn't stay with Inky without her knowing the whole truth about him. I think he is mostly concerned about her knowing that he gave Coryphish the orb and in essence caused all this and what the consequences of that knowledge would be. That is the part that we do know for a fact about Solas and that would not be a good thing for anyone in the Inquisition to know. Solas would be risking execution or imprisonment at the hands of the others. I think he is less concerned about what he will have to do (what that is, we still don't know) in the future. I think he wasn't really thinking about what he had done a couple thousand years ago when he dumped Lavellan. My evidence for all this is mostly me wanting it to be true which clearly means that it is totally plausible.
I sincerely hope that is the reason and not that he will have to die in order to release the Elvehn gods.
I also think he might actually worry that the Inquisitor will try to hinder his plans. He seems to hint that what he's doing is not something you would be in agreement with. Something he knows isn't really right or at least will take unfortunate measures. His "no, we can't" about he and the Inquisitor doing what he needs to do together sounded very certain.
I've seen some say that his refusal to tell the Inquisitor the truth as him treating her like a weak child. Maybe he didn't tell her the truth because he knows how strong she is. Knows that she can become a problem to him in the future with the whole Inquisition at her back if she so pleases. That could be why telling her about him would be betraying himself; he would be possibly weakening his own cause.
I need a timeframe for the bloody orb business..
According to Cory, the ritual was years in the making.. WTH has Solas been doing all this time?
Edit: Probably recovering from his jet lag
Crazy theory: Sandal makes his creepy prophecy thing in Act 2, right?
Legacy is clearly intended to be an Act 2 DLC.
So... Solas probably woke up around 9.34 Dragon.
I'm a bit late to the party, but have anyone theorized that Solas and the Creators might have been dreamers?
The fade and the world was one, everyone was a mage, but the dreamers could manipulate the world in a rare way and their abilities made them godlike, being able to create what they imagined, like for instance Ghilan'nain creating many different animals (although that text in the temple may be exaggerated).
EDIT: Sorry if I'm just bringing up obvious things and people have already come to a consensus about this.
This is the KING of fade songs. I love you

I feel like so many of these lyrics call back to both solas, his feelings for the inquisitor, his mysterious duty, and the fade.
He's pretty flabbergasted that Cory is even still breathing if you talk to him about it, and clearly aghast that he's managed to use any of the power within the orb. To me, it sounds like he had very little idea of who Corpyheus was and what his powers were, and Corypheus was likely in a Warden body. Solas just saw a greedy mage who would die trying to unlock his orb. If it had been ANYONE other than Corypheus, he probably would've been right.
To paraphrase Dumbledore, Solas is rather cleverer than most men, and his mistakes are correspondingly huger.
I cannot believe that I hadn't even considered Coryfish-as-Larius until you said that. I've been trying to figure out why Solas took one look at the blight corrupted magister and went 'yup. Seems trustworthy.'
And this is after

It's a compilation of Solas' grunts.....my mother walked in partway through.....it was an awkward time.
I'm actually inclined to side with the Wardens over Solas here, mostly on reasons of practicality.
The Wardens know how to fight darkspawn and stop Blights. It's been their hat for a while. For five Blights now, the strategy of "stick Archdemon with Warden sword" has worked just fine without any world-shattering unintended consequences unless the Warden actively intervenes with the Dark Ritual. And remember, the Wardens may know more than they're letting on. They're very secretive by nature, and we only see of them what the Inquisitor sees.
Solas's solution would probably be broader in scope and with a greater understanding of the underlying causes of Blight, but a really freaking bad idea nonetheless. Kind of like the Architect.
Have you read Last Flight? It makes it seem like the Wardens really, really, do not know that they are doing. Or at least have no idea how to balance consequences with their purpose. Do horrible things without knowing the repercussions in the name of gaining a lot of power so we can stop the Blight because we can't think of any options? SOUNDS GREAT. They're worse than Solas on the whole, TBH, because unlike Solas they have no idea what the heck they're messing with.
Sure, it works out, but only because they're lucky they haven't messed up beyond
That's not even covering what happens in The Calling. I have very minimal confidence in the Wardens.

Sigh another day of work where I can't contribute to the thread. Fortunately I can follow along and check what's going on. A ton of great theorizing today!
I'll just pop in here and throw my hat into the Solas/Fen'Harel possibly also being other gods thing....I'm personally hoping this isn't the case. Not because I think the theory is wrong--I mean, I don't know that any theory is wrong since we have so little FACT to work with...the one thing the game made very clear is that all of the legends have the potential to be totally wrong or at the very least, twisted up. So anything we get from the codex cannot be fully trusted. TRUST NO ONE yea verily and all. Anyways, I hope the theory isn't true because I think that would be a way to really waste the potential of some awesome characters.
Like, am I the only one who is totally on board the crazy train that heads to releasing all the gods? I cannot wait to interact with them in future games...we have at least two more coming to us right? I would love a chance to meet, fight, interact, defeat WHATEVER with all the old gods. It's just a situation that has so much potential to make really entertaining game experiences in the future. How badly do all of us want to see the real Andruil or Falon'Din or Dirthamen or even....JUUUUUUNE? I mean, I know I do. I totally want to go there. And I think Bioware wouldn't want to waste the potential of having all these awesome characters show up in future gameplay by smushing them into already existing characters. I mean, I hope they wouldn't...but then again, I hope they won't leave my heart yearning for Solasclosure either. TEAM OPTIMISM GOOOOO!
Out of curiosity, am I the only one whose party is always dressed in similar colours? For my main quizzy it's dark red and blackish( and beige...stupid pjs)
for my new Nightmare quizzy is emerald/black
I love to have Solas in a matching outfit ^^
