I just want to say that I love reading your theories, even if I don´t participate in the discussion :) Btw does anyone else feel like there´s a third party involved here? I´m thinking about the masked empire and Felassan´s master, what that´s one of the gods or the forgotten ones who wants to get out? Or maybe someone else entirely:p

I feel like Felassan's master is one of the other elven gods and my money is on Falon'Din since there are like a bazillion owl statues in Inquisition for some reason. Plus Falon'Din supposedly walks the Fade. I think all the Fen'Harel stuff he talks about is a red herring so we believe it's Solas, but anyway this topic has been talked to death by people much more articulate than I am :D

Broadly, I think we've got more players here than it appears. I'd think something of every race is involved in this plot, even if we don't see it at the moment. Sure the Qunari weren't around during Arlathan, but there have been several references in-game and in other media that there is something going on with their history. The dwarves were actually around during the elven empire and it's been heavily hinted that they were completely different then. Humans have the Old God stuff and their relation to the fall of the elves. There's the Blight and the Wardens too... I think it's all connected and there are a lot of players in the game which is great because it means there are many paths to explore.

Just listened to the Weekes interview for the first time. (Sorry, late back to the thread guys. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!) and ugh, my poor little heart is a mess. Why would you do that Weekes?!?!?!!! Can you only bathe yourself in the heartbroken tears of DA players?! Jeebus. I need to go eat some chocolate and watch the Lego movie a few times to cheer myself back up.

Lol, well aside from that :) There's been speculation about all the Solas things, discussion of the Solas romance (many people have done both), Lots of discussion of various Cullen things (like cat or dog person? Would he be the sort to like hugs or would he be more likely to be sort of standoffish in that respect? etc). There's a lot of random conversation about other things as well :)

Since most of the time I read at work, and most images are blocked at work, I often have to double check which thread I am reading because from the conversations it often could be either. For instance I totally thought the question about what could the Cullenites possibly have to talk about was posted in the Cullen thread at first >< There's a lot in common with the two groups :)

That's actually pretty cute that they talk about what kind of pet cullen would like. Me, I'm just thinking about whether or not we will kill Solas in the next game.  I'm content with either.

Right because I was sort of surprised that the elven stuff from the masked empire wasn´t in the game, so maybe it´ll be referenced in a DLC and that´ll set up the main villain for the next game, sort of like how they did with Cory? :) Btw,how hard is it to start the Solas romance if you ally with the templars? :P

There is some casual mention of the eluvians in a war table mission, and Morrigan can repeat some of the information you learn in the book about their closing, but...yeah. I hope we learn more about it in DLC, since the introduced the eluvian with Morrigan for pretty much no reason other than to show that it exists.

I started a new PT... With another Lavellan. This time on nightmare (which is indeed, nightmarish).

I'm avoiding exerting all of the dialog options with Solas (so it would seem more realistic XD) but if you speak with him a second time after coming to Haven he speaks about an artifact used to open the breach.

Why doesn't anyone get suspicious he even brings that up? He is extremely certain of the fact an artifact was used & entirely positive that the artifact didn't get shattered at the blast. Sure, he is a self-taught apostate and a fade expert, but it still doesn't explain how and why he would assume such a thing. It's not even a suggestion, he stated it as a fact!

The only reason Solas didn't get caught is because of pure luck XD

He slips oh so often with his words, it's amusing.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you? Same reason no one asks Flemeth anything when she saves their lives by turning into a dragon and then requiring they do something for her in return. I think people probably suspect something is up with Solas but don't think it's a big enough problem for the Inquisition to worry about. As he says if you make him your enemy: where else are you going to get an expert on the Fade and the rifts? No where, so as long as he doesn't seem to actively harm the cause...

Lavellan is just blinded by love though. She is the worst Keeper xD

Yup, it is indeed. Used my previous character I used for DnD, but with a different design, because I'm this lazy. Face is actually mine.

OMG! As long as it's a choice I guess that would be ok because then I could just happily choose not to kill him... of course they could set it up so that the "right" course of action would be to kill, then I would but feel awful :( I want to believe he's not going to go full villain and can be redeemed from whatever madness he's off to do ><

I agree. That and the fact that the crossroads is such a huge zone with detail work put into it, and we don't see it for more than a cutscene. That seems like it would be a complete waste of resources if they weren't intending to use it again at some point.

I view the Cullen and Solas threads fairly similarly, honestly. We both seem to be populated by loads of thoughtful and generally kind people and, largely, we try and keep our threads drama-free and troll-free. There's also lots of talented artists filling them with great art and fanfiction.

Also that we're both big enough that it's hard to keep up with the threads at times.

Yeah I was thinking about that too, the fact that it´s such a huge zone sort of makes me think that there´s going to be a DLC set there, damn I need that Wolf Hunt DLC now!

On the topic of Sandal:

  • Sandal: One day the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide.
  • Bodahn: Huh. What's this?
  • Sandal: When he rises, everyone will see.
  • Bodahn: By the ancestors, what's gotten into you, my boy?
  • Sandal: Enchantment?
  • Bodahn: Hmph. That's more like it.

Could this be a reference to Solas? I mean didn't he woke up fairly recently in terms of story? (I know there are theories whether he woke up right beforeInquisition or whether he's been awake for years...)

Just in case I accidently stirred anything up:

I have huge respect for David Gaider and everyone who works at BioWare, and I would never intentionally bash any one of them. I just don't mesh well with the man.

I don't think anyone's offended. :)

Also, can someone tell me, did Jessica Merizan leave Bioware? I'm hearing conflicting reports but I don't pay enough attention to her goings on to know.

Speaking of villians, am I the only one that pities Corypheus? He's just awoken from a long slumber, the whole world is not what he remembers it was, his nation a remnant of ts once glorious self, his gods are silent. He tries to set things right, in his own muahahaha sort of way.

Yes, she left a few months ago to pursue some other opportunity. I saw a random blog post in Twitter, so it seemed like a really quiet departure.

I like the *idea* of Corypheus as a villain, especially after listening to Weekes' interview.  He's got a lot of interesting backstory and potential to be both sympathetic and terrifying.  But I can't say I liked the execution.  I thought he was a lot scarier when he was just the "Elder One," this nebulous and untouchable other behind all the problems like the Breach.

IMO the problem is that after getting Skyhold, the rest of the main plot is basically quizzy thwarting him at every turn and running circles around him.  The only time I ever felt threatened by Corypheus was that brief sequence in the Temple of Mythal when he bodysurfs.  I was never afraid of him other than that, never felt like he could actually do serious harm to the Inquisition.  And it kind of defanged him as a villain.

no, no, I understand Corypheus. He's upset and learns what he always believed in was never true. The whole becoming a god to the people resulting in alot of death was the wrong way of doing it.

I think it's more likely to be a reference to a literal "Sun" entity rising.   The concept of the dawn coming and releasing the world from darkness is a Big Thing in the Andreastean faith, which is itself woven in super tight to the fabric of Thedas and the ongoing war of philosophies that created it in the first place.

Of course there are two claimants to the title, so there's ambiguity there.  Best case scenario, it refers to the release/unblighting/restoration of the True Sun, even though I suspect the prophecy comes directly from the false one.   Careful what you wish for, Elgar'nan.

I would call thwarting him dumb luck. Were it not for Inquisition's network, he could very well succeeded in whatever he wanted to achieve. But the very concept of character is pitying, rarther than threatening, in my opinion.

Well, so much for noble goal of bringing order and veeery bad execcution of this plan.

Good luck on your nightmare run. It gets easier once you start getting your specialisations and don't use Cole xD (sorry Cole). It helps that I'm running as an artificer. They are crazy OP when you use their focus ability and spam leaping shot.

Less OP when leaping shot causes you to drop through the map while fighting a dragon...Uncool.

Just watch out for bears in the Hinterlands when you are starting out. THEY ARE ENDLESS.

Oh, and Jar of Bees is your friend.

Solas is so crazy suspicious once you go through the game with hindsight. How can he just sense elven artefacts and why can my elven inquisitors not question him on that? And yeah, how he knows what was used to open the breach despite the fact he claims he was only there to observe the talks from a distance should be questioned more. He always just gets to use his damn "Because the Fade" excuse. Hrmph. I'm looking forward to hindsighting my way through the Temple of Mythal with him, er, hopefully tonight. I keep getting caught up in sidequesting and so I haven't gotten around to it. I've only ran through it with him before I knew the truth so I didn't really pay much attention. I'm going to be investigating ALL THE THINGS. Then possibly feel even stupider for believing his stupid Fade excuse so much the first time. The Faaaaaade.

I was actually thinking this, but wasn't sure.  Especially the part where it talks about the skies opening up, which could very well mean the breach. Magic coming back again.. maybe the breach, though sealed now, will have lasting effects that we didn't anticipate.

I’m not very good at it and this is my first attempt at theory-crafting (and if this has been theorized before, I apologized, this thread is too long to follow all of it :( ). so, bear with me while I attempt to put my thought into words and tell a story of old gods and young gods and the veil and the world of Thedas.

*deep breath*

Spoiler

And that’s all. My knowledge of lore isn’t strong enough to think of more at the moment and I’m sure my theory is full of holes :(
