While this is probably not the best suggestion...

Iris by Goo Goo Dolls. (I know ultimately Solas chooses forever over his beloved, but the raw emotion is there; you can play it up like he's going to let her know who he is, but then at the very end he looks heartbroken and walks away anyway.)

bah. I wish I still had the software to edit, I would make a 2-part story with that followed by A new hope by Broken Iris where Lavellan died eventually and he ended up regretting how he handled everything. D:

From David Gaider's tumblr:

As for what was the best thing to write? Personally? Without spoiling too much for those who haven’t reached it, I’d say the encounter between Morrigan and Flemeth. It was difficult to manage (due to having three different version in which it could occur), but it was something I had a vision for right from the get-go, and it was great to finally get it out and then watch two great actresses turn in such excellent performances for it.

I am out of likes, damnit and I am not even caught up yet.  So I guess I'll have to say something.

I finally finished my 2nd PT last night.  THAT scene still remains the one that impacts me the most (that isn't romance related.)  OGB existed in both of my play throughs.  By the Maker that scene is so satisfying, and gives me chills, and makes me weepy.  I love both of those characters so much.  And DG is so right about great actresses turning in excellent performances.

Here's a Solas:

Well i just found out that Sera is just a mage and doesn't know it.

Throw the Andruil stuff out the window, guys.

All the other mages in the group can sense it on her they just don't say it outright. They just keep trying to get her to realize it.

Whew, lots to catch up on.

So the Blood of the Titans being lyrium, with red lyrium being corrupted theory.

Honestly, my biggest disappointment with Inquisition (and DA2, to be honest) was that we didn't get more information on that goddamn Primeval Thaig. The dwarves have a well-established history. Or so we thought. And then that bombshell gets dropped on us. It's driven me mad with frustration over the past few years trying to figure it out.

Are Titans mentioned anywhere besides Kieran? THE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW MORE.

If the dwarves had a more complicated relationship with the elves back in the Old Days, that might explain why Solas is so put-out by Varric's not trying to save Orzammar, in addition to seeing parallels to his own civilization's fall.

Lyrium being either the remains of the Titans, with lots of parallels to other mythology (Ymir the Giant's blood becoming the oceans in Nordic mythology, for example.), or even the remains of dwarves compressed over time. I dunno. *sigh* I want MORE DA, stat!

Add in the Red Lyrium Idol looking like both Solas and Flemeth's post-credits tango and a representation of Mythal's murder possibly at Elgar'nan's hands... <_<

Hi there.   Just for the record Solas is without doubt my favourite character.   He would be even without the romance.    There is just something about him that I really empathise with, even the bit where you try and do things for the right reasons but it turns out wrong, since that was me all over when I was younger.   The romance does make the whole thing so much more heart wrenching and I knew I could never reject him from the moment I read that tomb stone that his greatest fear "was to die alone".  Which is why it seemed so much more inexplicable (before the epilogue) why he would go off again alone without me.   I could understand he needed a bit a time to get over the loss of the artefact, since it did seem to me so much to him, but that celebration party wasn't the same without him.   Made an effort for everyone else but my heart wasn't in it.   That was the odd thing about the ending for me - no sense of achievement or elation, I just felt flat because Solas had gone; then came the epilogue.

Which brings me to the point of this post.   I am rather pessimistic about the Solas that I fell in love with ever returning unchanged.    However, unless the merge that took place in the epilogue completely erased his character, I find it hard to envisage him as the big evil we have to deal with next time.    You see, whilst Solas may have evaded or equivocated himself out of situations that would reveal things he didn't want to, I'm pretty sure he never outright lied to me.    So why would he express such admiration for my character, why would he go to such efforts to help me, which to my mind went far beyond simply stopping Corypheus.   Why get me to switch on all those artifacts that are meant to strengthen the veil if he was just going to tear it down again?   Why point me in the direction of a super duper magical castle and ensure that my organisation is a real power base if that was going to be at odds with his aims?    Why give my other companions such a hard time of it about their choices in life and, for example, encourage Dorian to do something about slavery if he is really sorry about what happened in the past, if a short way down the line he knows it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference because he is going to try and end it all?

So I'm hopeful that he will become the Flemeth of the future and step in to help and guide in the direction he wants you to take because there is someone or something out there he badly wants to deal with, which I assume is the reason he woke up in the first place.      Alternatively, you get the opportunity to free Solas from the Dread Wolf and allow him to enter his beloved Fade, where he will await his beloved Lavellan.

A lot of people misinterpret that line. He wants to see her focus dominated. As in her attention. He thinks it would be fascinating to see her focusing her whole attention on something, and you can see the implications there. It's a very subtle and roundabout way of saying he'd like her attention. It's a very...Solas flirt.

And how do you mean unhealthy? I mean, it's a fictional relationship. There's a lot of drama. And I wouldn't want to date a thousand-year-old god thing in real life. But it doesn't feel unhealthy while it's happening.

Really???? How so?

Dorian tries to talk to her about magic and asks her what she thinks of when he says phrases. She just says "arrows" each time. He then talks magic to her more and she says she doesn't care how talented he is don't cram his magic where it's not wanted.

Dorian tries not to laugh and says "i don't think I can continue"

Vivi then says "Maker, how does she not know?"

----

Sola asks her about the fade all the time. She has weird responses. I thought this meant something more.

But he asks if she wants to test her magical skills. She says no and not to tease her. He laughs it off but says that sometimes people don't realize their power until they are older.

---

I think all the mages in the group know and just don't say anything because it's dangerous to upset a mage.

HOWEVER! She can see the future without realizing it. Which is a rare gift, and is assumed impossible. Inferring that she is very powerful and suppresses it. She doesn't remember her early childhood for a reason.

May I ask what your guys reason was to play as an elf?

Most people seem to like human PCs better, so what made you roll a Lavellan?

My Warden was a City elf because I found their situation in the world interesting and the origin was good (Shianni & Soris <3).

During the game itself, the race kinda grew on me, because of the lore, the dalish legends and the fact that they were just so much more interesting than the usual ("boring") humans. Missed the option in DAII even more than I thought I would, and therefore rolled a Lavellan in Inquisition.

I don't know why darwes don't appeal to me, and I have a qunari PT on stand by, because I do my second Lavellan right now  :P

Edit: Hope that all makes sense. It's pretty late here!

I'd imagine being a vessel to one of the Dreamer mage-gods of ancient Arlathan would make you into a mage. :P

 My adopted pet theory shall never die!

EDIT: Sashimi, while I think there are a lot of references to Sera having magical talent, the 'Maker, how does she not know?' was a reference to Sera calling magic a 'tool' and making all kinds of accidental puns with it. Hence, Dorian trying to talk through giggles and Vivienne's exasperation.

My reason was entirely superficial.  I saw the pre-alpha models for the various races and thought, "Dang, elves are gorgeous!"  And I'd had two human mages for my canon playthroughs of DA:O and DA2, so it was time to shake things up.

Now I'm having trouble imagining DA:I with anyone other than Lavellan.

Pretty much what I thought. You don't need to be an elven goddess to be connected to the Fade, you just have to have latent magical ability. All of the stuff that Cole et all say points towards Sera possibly having magic, but that's about it.

Ah, just started What Pride Had Wrought.
Morrigan: I believe this is the Temple of Mythal
Lavellan: Whats that?

*ETERNAL FACE/PALMING*

Tristan is meant to be a bit of an idiot on elven lore but I can't excuse that. I really can't.

Now then Solas, lets go soak up all the elven lore. Then accuse him and morrigan of flirting with each other because it goes down like a lead balloon and keeps me amused.

It's very frustrating, no? The devs seemed surprised to learn the Dalish Inquisitor gives that response, so it might be a bug or a glitch.

I don't know why, but when Morrigan says, "I believe we are at the Temple of Mythal," my Lavellan smiles and says, "Which is?"

I'm just going to headcanon that my Inquisitor is smiling because she's thinking, "Tell me something I don't know," and says "Which is?" out loud because she's trolling/humoring Morrigan. It's like, "You think I don't recognize a temple of my own All-Mother Goddess? Fine. I'll play along and have you tell me what you know, and silently correct you every word of the way."

Best I got. If it's a bug or a glitch, I hope the devs fix it in future patches. =/

I'm really failing to see how the Solas romance is unhealthy. It has to be one of the most laid-back ones we've had as far as drama goes. Well. Minus the whole possibly a god thing. But up to that point?

The domination comment meant your attention, not you. :)

hmm, Are Andruil/Sylaise/June the children of Elgar'nan/Mythal? I couldn't find anything explicitly stating it, but I thought they were... (The wiki says the twins were their eldest children, which implies they had younger ones. And Mythal's picture has her holding 5 children).

I was just thinking that if that were true, Fen'harel is the only one we don't know the origin of? He's also the only one not depicted as an Elf in his mural. And it's said he was the only Elvhen God who could walk with the Forgotten ones. Are we sure it's not the other way around, and he was a Forgotten One, who managed to convince the Elvhen Gods to accept him?

I don't think she can "see the future" so much as her magic may enhance her intuition. And it's not all that rare a gift. The seers in Rivain are hedge mages that practice divination.
