Fan of Tolkien's Noldor, the OG of badass elves. My first DA character was a Tabris but I eventually loved Mahariel and Surana more, especially when I could make a Mahariel mage through the power of mods.May I ask what your guys reason was to play as an elf?
Most people seem to like human PCs better, so what made you roll a Lavellan?
Omg a baby Sloth...*melts*
A lot of people misinterpret that line. He wants to see her focus dominated. As in her attention. He thinks it would be fascinating to see her focusing her whole attention on something, and you can see the implications there. It's a very subtle and roundabout way of saying he'd like her attention. It's a very...Solas flirt.
And how do you mean unhealthy? I mean, it's a fictional relationship. There's a lot of drama. And I wouldn't want to date a thousand-year-old god thing in real life. But it doesn't feel unhealthy while it's happening.
So much this. Dominating your "indomitable focus" is nothing more than being able to interrupt your concentration, pulling your attention away (unwillingly or not) from the task at hand.
....sound familiar? Though it's short-lived, It's Lavellan, not Solas, who manages that feat of domination.
"In all Thedas, I never expected to find someone who could draw my attention from the fade..."

Different content. Even though my first is always a human, I'll play a bunch of different characters and romance different people with each playthrough.
Aithne is my 4th character, and romancing Solas has been a dream. ![]()

I was actually torn between playing as an elf or a qunari at first; eventually I had settled on a qunari, but then Solas was announced as a romance and I switched to my elf Inquisitor instead. (Which ended up being a good thing, in the end! I would not have enjoyed my first playthrough as much if I'd stuck with my qunari Inquisitor.)
I've loved the DA elves since Origins--the city elf origin is still my favourite--and even though the Dalish elves took a while to grow on me, I really started to love them once I paid more attention to elven things in the game (and especially once I actually interacted with a Dalish clan as a Dalish elf--they're so nice to you! A very different experience from the one my other Wardens had). The thing that made me hesitate the most about playing a Dalish elf in Origins was, ironically, the vallaslin--I didn't want to use it on my Warden, but I knew it was important to the Dalish, so I wasn't willing to play as one without any. Eventually I got over it and by the time Inquisition came out, I was actually kind of fond of the stuff, haha.
And then my Inquisitor ended up having it removed anyway, so my tolerance wasn't really even needed. Oh well!

Edit: Just for clarification this is the ending to the first part of the story. There is a second part. So they might end up happy in the end. It's a very good fanfic.
Hm? No. But I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that a connection to the Fade must equal "intensely magical being". Basically, that's the core of my confusion. Everyone (except dwarves) is connected to the Fade. Mages are more intimately connected than most, which is how they're able to change the world. In essence, they form a conduit through which little pieces of the Fade can cross the veil, which results in the power to change reality, similarly to how the Fade itself is always changing. So I agree with you. Sera is likely connected to the Fade. Cole and Solas say as much. However, I don't think that connection is anything out of the ordinary for an elf, though she's quite possibly also a mage.
Elves don't have any unusual connection to the fade [much] more than anyone else. Sera points this out specifically when she is upset. Solas asks her what is wrong, and she says it is not an elf thing. Because the inquisitor (in this quote) is a non mage elf and she's not feeling anything.
There is a preferred choice to use elf blood for huge sacrifices. But if this means elves are more magical or not, or if they are just likely to be a slave is unknown. There are plenty of times when special human blood is used for blood magic though.

My Warden was a City elf because I found their situation in the world interesting and the origin was good (Shianni & Soris
).
During the game itself, the race kinda grew on me, because of the lore, the dalish legends and the fact that they were just so much more interesting than the usual ("boring") humans. Missed the option in DAII even more than I thought I would, and therefore rolled a Lavellan in Inquisition.
I don't know why darwes don't appeal to me, and I have a qunari PT on stand by, because I do my second Lavellan right now
Edit: Hope that all makes sense. It's pretty late here!
If given the choice I will play as an elf. I don't know why, I just like playing as elves. And mages. And mage elves.
The city elf origin was the first one I played in DAO and I loved it, and loved being a sneaky rogue. But then I ended up in a battle where everyone except Morrigan had died and it was just 'where has this class been all my life?' And I never looked back.
Yes, that whole scene from Dalish apostate's perspective is basically your worst childhood fears come to life with a giant hole in the sky to boot. And you don't even know that Fen'Harel is waiting for you just up the road. lolol Trifecta.I'd never finished Origins with an elf character, just humans and dwarves, and the Dalish got a lot more interesting in DA2, so I figured it would be cool. Also, it made the prologue more dramatic, in my head anyway. It's not sunshine and rainbows for a human Inquisitor either, but for a Dalish elf, getting captured, locked up and interrogated by a bunch of shemlen is kind of a worst-case "well crap I'm dead now" scenario even aside from the hole in the sky and the demons. Drama!

It's very frustrating, no? The devs seemed surprised to learn the Dalish Inquisitor gives that response, so it might be a bug or a glitch.
I don't know why, but when Morrigan says, "I believe we are at the Temple of Mythal," my Lavellan smiles and says, "Which is?"
I'm just going to headcanon that my Inquisitor is smiling because she's thinking, "Tell me something I don't know," and says "Which is?" out loud because she's trolling/humoring Morrigan. It's like, "You think I don't recognize a temple of my own All-Mother Goddess? Fine. I'll play along and have you tell me what you know, and silently correct you every word of the way."
Best I got. If it's a bug or a glitch, I hope the devs fix it in future patches. =/
Lavellan also constantly asked 'who is this' whenever they find the images of the gods in the temple. There's Dalish responses in the talks with Morrigan but still...
Thank you I will put that on my not to read list.
Crystal White is really good and well-written, though. It's sort of like replaying the post-Temple of Mythal breakup scene. IT HURTS SO GOOD.

NOnono, read it. There are a few sad parts, but it's very well-written overall and there are fluffy parts too!
Edit: Also, the tag says that the ending would be happy.

Cassandra: "Tell me why we shouldn't kill you now."
Lavellan: "Er... I'm not really coming up with anything here..."

Because the beginning of the game is a bit rushed, I headcanoned that my Lavellan came clean with Cassandra about the whole "spying on the conclave" thing when she first woke up. As far as she's concerned, she's already tremendously screwed. Trying to lie would be suicidal, so she figures the truth can't make her situation any worse than it already is.

I usually choose any race that isn't human 1st. Then when I found out I could romance Solas, I was thrilled. I liked him immediately. Is there any way to have him NOT break up with you? Or is it inevitable no matter how much approval is gained? Thanks all.

i'd roll dwarf but dwarfes can't do magic. so... qunari? nah, doesn't compute since there is no Tevinter area and i got the feeling they wouldn't pull another Arishok in DA:I. besides Tal-Vashoth? nuh-uh. human? never, humans are boring. a dalish mage? i wanted to do such pt since DA:O

Inevitable...
Well, inevitable for now.

Funny you should say that...because for now are two very important words, I will not forget them, I shall clutch on to those words until...until..things.
