I'll just leave this here instead of that mess.
Somehow Cole ended up number one and Solas twenty-six... I don't even.

This is my 1st Dragon Age game, and I feel like I'm nursing an actual heartbreak. I saved before every conversation with Solas, jic I chose something that garnered disapproval. I would reload saves to get the desired approval outcome; I did this over of the course of 100+ hours of gameplay...only to have him turn his back on me...brutal. T_T
I think I'll go back to Hello Kitty Island Adventure..

It felt like that to many of us too...here, blanket fort.

(My "like" was a friendly/sympathetic like, just so you know!)
How did you enjoy the game overall? You definitely picked an interesting romance to start with, haha... was it your first BioWare game, or just your first Dragon Age game? o:
Elves don't have any unusual connection to the fade [much] more than anyone else. Sera points this out specifically when she is upset. Solas asks her what is wrong, and she says it is not an elf thing. Because the inquisitor (in this quote) is a non mage elf and she's not feeling anything.
There is a preferred choice to use elf blood for huge sacrifices. But if this means elves are more magical or not, or if they are just likely to be a slave is unknown. There are plenty of times when special human blood is used for blood magic though.
Well Sera is very invested in the idea that there's no fundamental difference between herself and other commoners. Solas, on the other hand, believes that elves are indeed fundamentally different, and I'm inclined to believe him. After all, elves were once immortal. It was apparently an intrinsic part of being elven. They lost their immortality, but elves are still very different. Only an elf/elf pairing results in an elven child, which David Gaider has hinted at as having some magical basis. Only elven blood could activate the lights of Arlathan in Witch Hunt, and only elven blood could activate the mask of Fen'harel in that live-action piece with Felicia Day. There's a magical quality to elven blood that is unique.
In addition, in the Masked Empire:
Since all magic comes from the Fade, all of this makes me conclude that elves have a special connection to the Fade. In that context, Solas and Cole's comments to Sera make a lot of sense. It doesn't require her to be especially magical, because her inherent elfiness is what they're referencing. That said, I do think she has some inborn magical talent, even more than your average elf, but not enough for her to be identified as a mage and sent to the circle. Her magic manifests as more practical stuff, like really good aim and special intuition. She's very insightful, even though she doesn't like to admit it, and I think part of that insight is her magical talent. But I don't think she needs to have magical talent either. I think it makes just as much sense if she doesn't.
Thank you I will put that on my not to read list.
(seriously thank you)
NO! READ IT! And that's not where it ends. There's more coming. AHHHH no don't have that reaction, it's a great story. I don't want to give anything away. It starts out set in AU Arlathan, the next part is going to be present day. Yes that one thing is so sad, but the journey up until it is fantastic. And like I already said there's more story to come. Sometimes something really bad has to happen, that makes you miserable because there's something so good to come that makes it worthwhile. I say that not knowing how the author is going to finish the next part, it might be more heart ache.
Their interpretation of Solas is fabulous. It even feels like him.

At the top, Solas, the Architect, the Arishok, Loghain...
At bottom, Isolde, Anora, Howe, Velanna.
Sounds about right for me. ![]()

AND!
If you upload a save in which Morrigan performed the OGB ritual, the Inquisitor encounters the child, who says when they first meet: "Mother didn't tell me the Inquisitor was an elf." If you pick the middle "humorous" option, the Inquisitor quips, "The ears gave me away, did they?"
His response? "No. Your blood is ancient. I saw it right away."
EDIT: (And the narrative makes it clear that's the soul of the Old God sensing it.)
Lavellan is my first ever elf in a game.
Because Solas.
Same.
And Elves were the "prettiest" face ratio wise, I was planning on romancing Cullen, but went the Solas route and was like.
haha, I love you but why

Yes yes yes, I didn't mean to make people not read the fanfic! It's really good. There's just that one part that's really sad, but I think the ending would be happy.

And what makes that part you're talking about so sad is mostly because of the journey you take to get there.
I would advise for anyone squicked out by the idea of more sadness, who reads Crystal White, perhaps avoid the last chapter in the first part until they get some of the next part up. I haven't checked it in a few days so they might already have chapters up for part 2.
We're are not the only one's obsessed with this fade nerd..

Can't take unhappy ending Solas fanfics right now. Even all the fluffy ones have major tons of angst and foreshadowing. Luckily there's one on kink meme about a tickling fight that doesn't have any "I'm a god and love you but can't be with you blah blah." Instead it's all just fuzz and warmth and awesomeness.

First! Aww, you sweet summer child. Go play DA:O with no walkthrough or spoilers. (unless you already spoiled it through the keep). In all seriousness, get the Ultimate edition - it's like 8 bucks. Alistair and Zevran will make you feel better.

But that wasn't the endingg. The story is still continuing. Now I wish I didn't make that initial post. T_T
Can I just say how I'm one shot-ing enemies with my bow at very low levels? I never did that even on casual game play as a warrior or mage.
Damn I love being an archer.
Playing an archer in DAI makes me warm and tingly inside. I have never before seen such love bestowed upon what is otherwise an underpowered and unloved class. Some nights it's hard to decide if it should be my bow or Solas next to me in my bedroll, lemme tell you.
I just wish I had more game to play through after crafting the kick-assiest of bows. ![]()
I just can't even. Lol.
Yeah. It's cool but I'm not a fan of hand or face tats..
Says the person who romanced Zevran.
