I think it's more about who he is as a person.  He's principled - to a fault.  You watch as he backs up, his hands in the air as Lavellan steps forward and confesses that she too loves him.  One more second and he would have just stayed he's that on the edge - that's at least how I interpreted it.  If he stayed, forgot the past and just moved he would be betraying who he was.  He'd betray his cause - everything that he fought for and then messed up.  It would be all for nothing.

I still haven't done that scene yet, waiting to get all the other things done first. But that's an interesting thought too.

Just pointing out that Celene and Briala can rekindle a relationship if you find a a special piece of "evidence" in Wicked Hearts. You'll need to unlock the right Halla door for it, but Briala doesn't have to be banished.

Speaking of "go to him" and "dirth"...

You know what I find ironic?

Solas does not consider the Dalish his people. Just a result of his mistake.

In the Exalted Plains is where the elves fell to the humans.

Solas loses Wisdom in the Exalted Plains, a place he had no previous connection with...and place the Dalish consider a scar, a memorial to what could have been and the tragedy that happened.

The People lost more of their history there as well as a new beginning, and Solas lost Wisdom.

It sounded better in my head, but I was thinking about it earlier.

I turned all the music off at the temple of mythal and heard an extra word in the back masking.

Before all I could hear was "go to him"

Now I can hear "Go to him, Dirth"

and also "travel far"

and "mythal speaks the calling"

I like how everytime I finally come to grips with your previous discovery, I find you've posted a new one.

So we've got some connection to the Calling, Flemeth's constant illusions to singing and dancing, Dirthamen popping up all over the place. Hmm.

Worth noting that in the Old God=Elf God theory, Dirthamen/Razikale is next in line to become Archdemon. Maybe Dirthamen is buried under Qunandar and the Well is advising him to relocate to Starkhaven to better Blight up the place?  :P

Why would Mythal be behind the Calling? Is it possibly her way of getting vengeance on the buried Old Gods? Or does she want more power, more purified Old God souls, and the ritual is a sure-fire way of getting that?

And you can force all three of them (Celene, Briala, and Gaspard) to work together for the good of Orlais.  It takes a bit of maneuvering and blackmail, but it can be done.

Yea I found that in my last playthrough but I had already planned to let her die ><

Excellent point and your GIFs are most appropriate. Bravo!

If anything, I'm interested in seeing what would happen to Thedas if everyone were to get magic again. Think about the mass panic! The pandemic of self-hatred and fear that would come out of that! Magic is terrifying to the majority of the population of Thedas and the Mage Templar War certainly didn't help that reaction. While I haven't come to a solid throw-the-money-down conclusion on what Sera is, I feel like she's a pretty good gauge of how the common folk of Thedas would react to fire suddenly flying from their finger tips.

A question I've been mulling around is.. where did humans come from? Did they just show up out of the blue? Did they arrive on ships from some other land? What did they believe their origin to be pre-Andrastian Chantry? The humans appear to be different from the near-giant Avaar tribesmen.

I could be wrong because my memory sucks, but i believe a codex entry said humans arrived in a ship from par vollen. Feel free to correct me if I got my codex entries mixed up.

So Dirthamen is Falon'din's twin soul instead of sibling. What exactly does "twin soul" mean though? Some sort of alternative self existing in the Fade or otherwise? Is he even a separate person? Did Falon'din have multiple personalities?

*Gasp* Is Dirthamen the Tyler Durden to Falon'din's anonymous narrator?

"I know this because Dirthamen knows this."

According to "The World of Thedas"

-3100 Ancient "Records claim humanity arrives in Thedas around this date.  This is disputed by scholars, who ask where humanity came from and why they left."

- Humans are said to have first appeared from the north as a single tribe known as the Neromenians.  It's not known where they came from or why they came.  They were also the first humans to practice magic.

As for human origins, it's claimed they're from Par Vollen or Seheron or some islands beyond it. But there's definitely something weird going on with humanity's origins, much like the dwarf and elf ones. And Qunari.

My goodness, what is up with the Qunari?

But the (claimed) story of humanity is that they started arriving in waves of tribes. Some, like the Alammari, kept moving until they ended up in the Frostbacks. Some, like the Neromenians, settled in Tevinter.

It seems not all Avvar are giant. You fight a few in the Fallow Mire that are normal sized. It is curious how often they tend to be gigantic, though.

lol well this is probably my fault but when Solas is talking, I'm like...

mrw-when-my-teacher-clearly-catches-me-n

But I don't think we ever had an option to discuss with him what repercussions there would be if everyone came to have magic and living with spirits and what not? Solas just tells us is wonderful, and I believe anything that comes out of that sexy mouth but what about the rest of Thedas? What's good for you and me might not be what's best for him and her.

For a mage Quizzy it might be interesting because you already have magic but what about the rest of the people? Yes! people will panic like crazy and not everybody will be ok with it. Imagine the Inquisitor trying to restore order in that chaos? Oh man, that would be WORST case scenario.

I don't think I know anything about where humans come from? All we hear is Andraste this, Andraste that but I haven't heard much about the beginning of humanity. That is a very very interesting question!

From what I gather, it's a quintessentially elven relationship between two people that extends beyond friendship. Something like the Elven equivalent of the Star Trek Vulcan relationship of : t’hy’la - friend, lover, (life-long) companion, blood brother, soulmate.

It doesn't necessarily have to mean lover in the romantic sense as this word has been used to describe Kirk and Spock. Alright, stepping OUT of that Fandom as fast as I can because I legitimately don't know enough about it to present myself as any kind of authority and it's not my.. brand of tea.

My personal theory on this:

Twin soul=Kadan. But with pointy-ears and a future in poverty.

So I put my faith in something unknown
I'm living on such sweet nothing
But I'm tired of hope with nothing to hold
I'm living on such sweet nothing

It isn't easy for me to let it go

'Cause I've swallowed every single word
And every whisper, every sigh
Eats away this heart of mine
And there is a hollow in me now

Arrrgghhghg!!

Edit: This has to do with my previous post on the previous page! Taken on its own it looks slightly crazy...  hahaha

The twins Falon'Din and Dirthamen are the eldest children of Elgar'nan the All-Father and Mythal the Protector. The brothers were inseparable from the moment of their conception, known for their great love for each other. That is why we often speak of Falon'Din in one breath and Dirthamen the next, for they cannot bear to be apart, not even in our tales.

When the world was young, the gods often walked the earth, and Falon'Din and Dirthamen were no exception. Both were delighted by the many wonders of our earth. They played with the animals, whispered to the trees, and bathed in the lakes and streams. Their days were filled with bliss, and they did not know sorrow.

And then one day, while passing through the forest, Falon'Din and Dirthamen came across an old and sickly deer resting beneath a tree. "Why do you sit so still, little sister?" asked Falon'Din.

"Play with us," said Dirthamen.

"Alas," spoke the deer, "I cannot. I am old, and although I wish to go to my rest, my legs can no longer carry me."

Taking pity on the deer, Falon'Din gathered her up into his arms and carried her to her rest beyond the Veil. Dirthamen tried to follow them, but the shifting grey paths beyond the Veil would not let him. Separated for the first time from Falon'Din, Dirthamen wandered aimlessly till he came across two ravens.

"You are lost, and soon you will fade," the raven named Fear said to Dirthamen.

"Your brother has abandoned you. He no longer loves you," said the other, named Deceit

"I am not lost, and Falon'Din has not abandoned me," replied Dirthamen. He subdued the ravens and bade them carry him to Falon'Din. This they did, for they had been defeated and were now bound to Dirthamen's service.

When Dirthamen found Falon'Din, he found also the deer, who once again was light on her feet, for her spirit was released from her weakened body. Both Falon'Din and Dirthamen rejoiced to see this. Falon'Din vowed that he would remain to carry all the dead to their place Beyond, just as he did the deer. And Dirthamen stayed with him, for the twins cannot bear to be apart.

--From "The Story of Falon'Din and Dirthamen", as told by Gisharel, keeper of the Ralaferin clan of the Dalishelves.

One thing I've considered is whether humans used to be elves - in fact, whether everyone used to be elves. Because of that weird thing where a half-elven, half-human child just comes out human. What if the "quickening" involved people splitting into different races somehow?

Okay, it doesn't sound that likely. But still. Fun to think about. :D

I have the weirdest feeling that Solas/fen'harel and Dirthamen are the same person. I have all these images in my mind that make me think that but I don't know how to explain it in words yet.

Just the way Mythal touches Solas when they see each other. I just. I get that feeling.

Sebastian: So what do you believe, Merrill?

Merrill: Our gods abandoned us long ago. They haven't answered our prayers since the fall of Arlathan.

Merrill: When we've proven that we're elves again, that we didn't lose everything, they'll come back to us.

Sebastian: We say the same of the Maker.

Sebastian: Perhaps they're only different names for the same divine force that created the world.

Merrill: The Maker wants you to be elves?
