You got blasted into the Fade. Physically. That's what Corypheus wanted to happen to himself, but, well. As it happened, the ritual failed = Cory's unable to enter the Fade = he has no other choice but retreat and come up with another plan. As for Justinia... maybe it was not really her, but the same spirit that helped you later? Idk. Need to think.
True, but Corypheus presumably needed a sacrifice to open the fade and cross it physically, which was Justinia. I assume that she was suppose to die if all had went as planned, but the inquisitor shows up and it all gets kindof confusing from there. Quizzy grabs the orb and somehow both you and justinia are trapped in the fade...but not corypheus? He was lunging at you as soon as you grab the orb, therefore closer and yet justinia is with you in the fade? Also she dies getting caught by the nightmare demon, so I think we can assume she was alive and not just a spirit.

7996FA: The Grey Wardens discover a number of intelligent darkspawn who can control portions of the horde even after Dumat’s death. Warden Sashamiri arranges a trap to restrain and study one of these creatures, Corypheus, believed to be one of the Tevinter Magisters who entered the Golden City and were corrupted into the first darkspawn two centuries prior. Corypheus is successfully imprisoned under the Vimmark Mountains in the southern Tevinter Imperium.
Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have confirmation of the rest of the Seven Magisters being active.
...Okay, so that was probably obvious. I just missed this part somehow earlier.
Also. Corpheus was captured two hundred years after his corruption, and twelve years after Dumat's death.
Damn, Dumat. You tough.
Damn, Cory. You wily.
EDIT: They spent ten years trying to kill or control him before they gave up. I think the Wardens got bored.![]()
This is as relevant a time as any to link an interview I dug up
In the Dragon Age 2 downloadable content, Legacy, players discover that Corypheus, an ancient darkspawn, was one of the original Tevinter magisters. I asked David Gaider if the Architect of Dragon Age: Awakening is also a former magister, and if he’ll play a part in upcoming events in the DA universe.
"Yeah," Gaider agreed, "he is the same type of character as Corypheus, absolutely. Whether he pops up, well, possibly. I think so… I mean, obviously not if you killed him."
I rather miss the Architect. He was pretty cool guy all things considered.

The problem is, we don't see her die, just disappear (or at least that's the impression I got from this scene). You don't see her corpse or anything like that, only spiders. I think it's plausible to suggest that she died with everyone else during the explosion, and that it was a spirit helping you all along. Could be mistaken, ofc.

Keep talking history to me.
Keep talking history to me.
Dean's pose is what I do whenever I find a Codex entry in DA.
I can confirm that if the Dumat=Andraste theory is correct, she's sixteen when she marries Maferath in 8000. Which would be completely normal for that culture and timeframe.
Shartan/(Solas?
) joins Maferath's army at the Battle of Valerian Fields, nine years into the war.

I think at least one of the Magisters is dead. Killed and apparently eaten by a fellow Magister. >_>

OH SNAP. OK. Here's a question before I create a crack-pot theory: WHEN did Corpheus get the orb?
Sometime after escaping the Warden prison, I believe. He must have gone poking around elven ruins until he found Solas.

True. The way I interpreted that scene what with the angling and the fast paced pull away shot we get right before our inquisitor turns around to see Justinia, is that she got grabbed away and presumably killed by the fear demon as you were escaping. When you enter the fade later in the game and your quizzy recovers her memory, she even says that the divine died then and what is before her now is just a spirit. If she DID die with everyone in the initial explosion, we could then theorize that Corypheus body died and he just re spawned elsewhere, but as of now it's too ambiguous to say.

Don't some old people attend classes where they learn about all the new technology and lingo kids these days are using?
Maybe he met Solas in one of those. ![]()
As for the eaten Magister, I almost think that that is the Architect. It sounds like his sort of luck. And as disgusting a fate as that is, if they also possess the body-surf, maybe he survived? Then again, if there weren't any other darkspawn at that time...probably not. ![]()
EDIT: I'm fairly certain the Larius/Janeka skin Cory was wearing was incinerated in the blast, and he kept Wardens at various locations as a respawn point. Hence his not having a direct hand until Haven. Going off his memory crystals in the Shrine of Dumat, he may have respawned in Nevarra or southern Tevinter, even. Trusting Alexius and Envy to do their jobs. ![]()

That's what I was thinking about: everyone, Inquisitor aside, died (Inky got saved by the Anchor sending them to the Fade), Fade!Justinia was a spirit, and Cory simply respawned afterwards. Morrigan says his body-surf ability has no range.

Ok, so what I am sure (almost) I hear: "Mythal speaks the truth" - there is a voice overlay, where the second voice says "calls" or "calling" at the same time. "Go to the..." - I am not sure about the last part. Dirt? Deer? (XD) "Bound to the same fate". "Travel far". "Don't speak". "She speaks the truth". "She's one of us" (another voice overlay saying "lost"?).
*continues listening*
I swear every time I replay it I hear something different in that part where I thought I heard "From the blood." When I first played it, I heard halt, blind just like the prompt text. Then I heard from the blood when I listened real close. Now I hear fought blind and fought blood. Still hearing from the blood too, but it could just be my mind trying to make a sentence out of mush. Just like I sometimes hear "him" right after Go to, but then on a repeat, I don't hear anything there but a brief silence. That whole part around the oddly loud Dir(th/t) is what's throwing me. I don't really hear Mythal after that either. It sounds more like "It's all" to me. I also hear Flemeth's voice following along some of the words, but not all of them.
'Tis interesting how we are listening to the same thing but not hearing all of the same stuff.
Still unbelievably creeped out by it though. I think I have room for a few more goosebumps. Must play it again!

The reason I was asking about when Corypheus got the orb is because I had a WEIRD idea that Fen'Harel gave the Orb to Corypheus PRIOR to the birth of Andraste and gave it to the Priest of Dumat/ Mythal because he thought they were on the same side. **** goes super down, Corypheus and the Magisters break through the Veil, First Blight. Mythal->Dumat->Andraste. Shartan (if he's Solas) joins up and the real reason they go against Tevinter is to get the Orb back.
But given that this is likely not true due to the very good references we have so far of Corypheus not having the orb until much, much later out of the Warden Prison, it's irrelevant.
EDIT:
This COULD still be a possibility if Corypheus HID the orb prior to being taken into the Warden Fortress and came back for it. Fen'Harel just would have had to have TWO uthenera periods. One after the sealing of the Elven Pantheon/ Forbidden Ones until the Magisters, another post-Andraste.
I believe the Orb is a substitute for not having six other incredibly powerful Somniari Magisters at his back, a mountain of lyrium to snort, and a few hundred elves to sacrifice.
You can't get good help these days.
EDIT: Why does Justinia glow in the shape of the Adamant Spirit in the memroy of the escape from the Fade? I figure it's either a spirit quickly saving your bacon by assuming a trustworthy form, Justinia's actually with you (somehow), or it's Andraste or a figure like that.

If they were capable of body-surfing at that time, he could have killed him, ate him, but that magister still survived in another body? I'm unsure. That cannibalism though... Yech.
Yeah, that's true. We don't really know if Cory's body-surfing is a Magister ability or a Cory ability, though. Still... getting so angry at someone that you eat them is... new. lol

My interpretation is that everyone died except the Herald. Justinia didn't survive physically- when you first see her in the Fade at the top of the stair, she's glowing like the spirit does later. That was the spirit who inhabited her. Corypheus died as well but later did his resurrection thing into one of the bodies of the Grey Wardens. Now that you mention it, the way the story is presented you DO seem like an anomaly. HOW did you survive the orb not killing you the moment you grabbed it? Cory mentions that you should have died, though whether he was just being a boastful villain in that segment, or honestly puzzled is debatable. How was it that only you and Divine Justinia survived and were in the Fade afterward? We know the orb tore a hole in the sky and could theorize that everyone in the room got transported...but wait, why didn't any grey wardens survive, then? And where was Corypheus at that point?

I've completed the Ancient Age translation into FA units. Starting on Blessed. Um...this is embarrassing but can I get a more explicit tutorial in spoiler tags? I messed up last time.
I figure I'll edit the post as I finish each Age.
I couldn't get the black background of the Wiki timeline to go away, so instead of copying and pasting I got to exercise my fingers. ![]()

Just throwing it out there, but what if Mythal was betrayed and murdered by Elgar 'nan? He does seem to have a bit of a temper in his codex entries and the rest of the pantheon seems to rally behind her when she calls. The way she is describe does suspiciously bleed into Elgar 'nan's territory as the God of Vengence. Just a crack pot theory, but maybe he grew tired of her overshadowing him as the leader of the pantheon?
